    Got my abyss 3 last week, worn it everyday and it’s fine as an everyday watch (I don’t wear a suit). It is different and every time I look at it I smile. I have the full bronze and looking forward to the patina developing. Only 150 of each model, so never going to meet someone with the same watch. No need for diving extension as I have the rubber strap. I will be getting another strap (custom velco) which will be fine for diving. It’s a marmite watch, I don’t like marmite but love my abyss 3 and well worth the money. Great review thanks 👍

    I own a couple Zelos, and love them. For a micro they have some of the best fit and finish I've seen.
    That being said, they do not compare to an Omega. The movement, the details, the edges, Omega wins.
    You do get great value out of Zelos tho. I do think they are one of, if not the top Micro I like tho.

    I think it's fair to say as time goes on these micro brands are narrowing the gap between certain more prestigeus brands, but what's the longiverty of certain areas of these micro brands ie bezal action, Lume, clasp action, movement accuracy and so on, the law of diminishing returns I wounder what is the price for a diver where you get the most from the least paid.???

    4 out of 5 watches in my collection are micro-brands. My Hamilton Khaki Mechanical being my only non micro-brand. I believe that not all micro-brands give you a lot of value for the money, but a lot of them do, and the same could be said about your big name brands. It is my opinion that you can pay to much just because of the name on the watch. But in the end it is what you like and what you will wear regardless of the cost. Thanks again Chris. Brian.

    There are some very good microbrands on the market. Check out Brellum. I have their chronometer, and it is a phenomenal timepiece. I also like Norquain. Granted, both these brands are a tad pricey so check out Tourby. This is a German microbrand and my personal favorite. I have both their diver and GMT. A couple of my friends are into Monta and very happy with their decisions away from mainstream brands.

    Great comparison.
    Of the Omega Divers, I like he Planet Ocean the best. Like this version with just the black, If I ever was going to get a high-end Diver this would be it.
    I recently got a Doxa 300T, the lume is also ok, no where here many microbrands. It seems a lot of the Older Swiss brands don’t go crazy with lume while microbrands are almost required to go all out.

    • @jamesweaver67
      @jamesweaver67 4 года назад +3

      surfitli I think that the micro brands see areas of improvement and produce watches thinking of the diver, customer; unlike many of the high-end brands who tend to get comfortable over time and depend on name and brand horology to sell watches!

    Quality content Chris, I think this really helps those who like you say are really about value for money and the look of watch more so than the history etc,like you its hard to know having both high end ( admittedly not as high end as your collection ) and Micros and if starting collection from scratch again knowing what I know now, I am not sure what I would spend my money on, so much snobbery in the Swiss watch industry I think they are going to have to evolve otherwise the Micros will continuously eat into their business. In 15 -20 years time Zelos will have made that jump to a next tier up I believe, same with Gruppo Gamma, you really need to get a Divemaster in from them for review, you would love it !! You still got the HammerHead ??, Great video my Friend !!! all the best - Nick.

    Purchased Abyss 3 with Eta; while good value for Swiss automatic, far from Omega or other luxury brand. Those luxury brands maybe overrated; however, up close examination, Zelo reveals somewhat rough not so clean precise finish. Other micro brands that may cost little more could be better choice...

    I love this kind of comparison. For what it's worth, it's not just the PO that has awful lume. I think the entire Swatch group is filled with products with awful lume. I don't know why they even bothered on my Sistem51. It's worse lume than any Ali Express knockoff. It's barely better than the expired Tritium on my early 90's Speedy Reduced, which effectively has no lume. Swatch Group, step up your lume game!

      Interesting. I have a Seamaster Professional and an Aqua Terra and while they both have decent lume, when I wear my Turtle or SKX or Mako, the first time I go from a light to a dark room the brightness of the lume catches me off-guard.

    Omega is not going for super duper lume. They want a classy looking lume that allows you to see what time it is at night, nothing more. It's not really a matter of who applies the most lume, it's a matter of finishing. The Omega has better finishing and a better movement. I have a Mako v3 and the caseback design feels very sharp and unfinished. It's a nice watch though, but definitely no Omega.

    • @WatchChris
      @WatchChris  4 года назад

      I agree no comparison on finish but the mako has alot of value

    • @patricko9170
      @patricko9170 4 года назад +1

      Yeah, I thought the same thing about my Mako 3....rather poor finishing, especially on the case back. At least my Zelos HH2 has a smoother case-back.

    • @dommerdom
      @dommerdom 4 года назад

      I was going to say exactly this. Perfectly stated. One of your first interactions with a watch is running your hands over it. When they run over something sharp, it really alters your feeling. The caseback is all sharp, from the shark to the surround. There's two other areas that show the cost are both on the bracelet for me. I know it's a $50 bracelet, so probably about 5% the cost of what that PO bracelet would run you, but the clasp, while a definite improvement over prior designs Zelos used, is still nowhere near as well constructed, and the champfer or bevel on the edge of the links was clearly done on the assembled bracelet, which results in it not being even around the border of the link. If each link were individually machined, it would look so much better. Again, it's a $50 bracelet, and it's much better than a $50 bracelet has any business being, but it's just in the same league, finishing-wise, as the Omega. By the way, lest it seem like I'm crapping on Zelos, I'm not. I'm wearing a Mako v3 while typing this. I love it for what it is. It is astounding value. Also it might be I'm just lucky but it's running about +1s/d fast. Just fantastic.

  • @imranchowdhury4972

    The Zelos being a 3000m does not have a dive extension!!! Isn't it bit surprising? Atleast the Omega has. And finally who is going to wear a 20mm thick watch as a every day piece?

    • @WatchChris
      @WatchChris  4 года назад

      I agree 20mm is too thick for day to day really I think it's only useful for real divers and even then it's over kill...

    • @DienekesShade
      @DienekesShade 4 года назад +2

      I am. No problem with wearing it daily. I understand that it isn't for everyone but the amount of little bitches hating on watches their frame can't support is disgusting. That kind of comparisons makes a lot of sense. Especially nowadays. They show how overpriced watches can be and that we don't need to spend loads of money to get nicely executed timepiece. I love Omegas (not the Planet Ocena though) but such comparisons show how much is for the logo and history alone. Thing is, those attributes don't show time and for the most people (outside watch community) are simply irrelevant ;)
