I'm curious about the strat o timer, is it worth the premium? Most other watches using that movement are a couple hundred cheaper. Is the jack mason worth the extra?
@@direwolf1883 good question. sort of subjective, but to me, I think so. I really, really like the watch. The level of finishing, and the very cool design go a long way for me. Also the bracelet is just crazy comfy. with quick adjust.
They sell more watches than the rest of Swiss industry combined. They are not just common on the wrist, they are common in people’s minds, even if they can’t afford them.
Hi Cris. the first time I heard of CW was three years ago right here wiht you, I began curious and after that I bought a C60 pro600 that very same year, and still love it., I live in MX and not even my watch guy knows what it is, his impression was "this rivals RADO and is superior"., thanks a lot for making me aware of CW. Greetings from MX.
I think formex is still kinda of slept on, and is similar in quality as C.Ward but less known. Also as a MD resident gotta give love to Tsao Baltimore. Really nice watches with unique dials and finishes. I own their Natty Boh collab and love it. Honorable mentions: spinnaker (50 phantoms, Scottish watches collab) and Avi-8 (1942 capcom, fly boy x islander)
I have a Zelos Comet in sky blue as my daily wearer. It just ended up being the one I'm most comfortable with, and it keeps great time for a manual wind movement (Sellita SW215).
12:33 man I love the look of that Empire Stratotimer... I just afraid it'll wear too big on my wrist. Also, WISE and MAEN really deserve recognition for what they're putting out for very affordable prices.
Any way you could put in the description rough prices at time of making this video. Affordable is always subjective but would love to have ballpark numbers
Interesting selection, but Zelos surely is definitely not one no one knows about - I sometimes wished they were when I did not get my favourite model... Christopher Ward is also very well known, especially in Europe.
As someone who can't afford anything on this list myself, I don't think it's a "fortune." Quality watches, especially mechanical watches are not inexpensive to make
Would love for Chris to curate a similar collection but in the 3k range. For example, you could score a Monta Noble, a Nodus Deep and Lorier chronograph for the price. I bet you would rarely see a person in the wild with the same watches. 3k is a lot but could be a point of comparison.
Ophion are great love them a lot. Impossible to on someone else wrist. Another brand that is making fantastic watches is straum. I m eagerly waiting for kollokium new release...love the look
The new day night watch ochs makes is insane. I think what he has done to the UN-320 is something you would only expect to see in watches costing 50 to 70k and you will probably get this around 10k
Thanks for introducing us to these relatively unknown brands. If you had more space on your list, would RGM Watch Co. in Pennsylvania, and Sartory Ballard in France make your list?
Well, I wouldn't say that no one has heard of Zelos or Chr. Ward - but the others are a revelation and an education. You could teach a watch class at NYU or the New School.
Angles watch and Azimuth. I own one of each, and I've never seen another one, either in South America (Colombia) where I live and/or in the US (there must be more but I haven't seen them).
Chris if you could repeat the brand a couple of times during the review or maybe graphic it would help. You normally say it once at the beginning and once at the end. Thanks
@@WatchChris I saw that and appreciate it. When you are doing multiple brands it’s tough to track which watch you are talking about. I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the AMZWATCH has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
Cincinnati Watch Co Towson Watch Co Visitor Watch Co Fledderman Von Rieste Watches Tsao Baltimore Zenea Watches This is enough to keep you busy for a bit😂😂
Yes, they are expensive. And you can find better options for less. I’ve seen spaceone and Atowak in person and the second is miles better than the first.
"I don't regret (selling the Ochs und Junior) because I really love the watch that I got." 10 seconds later... "...however, I sold (the OuJ) and I *do* regret it" Well which is it 😂
It's sad that watches that look good cost over 1k+. AMZWATCH watches are REALLY well made, and it just shows how a brand name on a watch can make its price 10x higher. I understand that if you look under a microscope, you'll find the difference, but just how many of you really inspect a watch at that level when you see someone with a watch?
Great job Chris!!
please always say the price of watches, thanks
I love the Dufrane -Travis collection
Traska. I just purchased a Venturer GMT and I love it. It also uses the Myota 9075 so it’s a true GMT.
I have the same Traska. Wow it’s an awesome watch. Unbelievable for the price actually.
Came here to say this. Have yet to see one in person, but love the designs, and have heard nothing but great things!

I have a Jack Mason Stratotimer. It’s a fantastic watch with excellent finishing and super comfortable.

Interesting watches! I really like the variety of approaches.

Dan is the best. Finishing is outstanding
RZE is a brand I think should be on this list. I don’t think they get enough love, even by true “watch people” in the know.

It’s all relative
"only collectors know" should've been your first clue

Horpa. Out of Mumbai. Great guy forging new ground in India.
Well, I own a watch from a micro brand not listed here: AnOrdain - model 2, orange fume.
Sinn is a good brand too
Hanhart every day for me 😅

How about Martin Designs?
You need to look at Itay Noy
Please try to get and review a Vayth. They look amazing but aren't covered at all except a couple of videos in their native language

Eberhard & Co. Swiss independent less than 20000 per year known for their chronographs.

I would never hear the end of it if I bought a "Royter"

Agree, Christopher Ward is certainly no longer "obscure" nor is it really a microbrand anymore. Great watches though!

A good collection can include main stream and independents. I would avoid being on the extremes. Name dropping Rolex is predictable. 🙄
