During beta minus decay, a neutron in an unstable nucleus transforms into a proton, releasing a high energy electron and antineutrino in the process. During beta plus decay, a proton in an unstable nucleus transforms into a neutron, releasing a high energy positron and neutrino in the process. Beta particles carry away energy lost by the nucleus and are ionizing radiation.

You can tell the teacher’s enthusiasm from the way he teaches!😃
Yes indeed he makes it very clear
That child like Wonder.. That strong sense of awe😍.. absolutely love Science when it's approached with passion ❤️💯
It's the first time I learned something about chemistry. It's a good channel.
This vid is amazing, but pls upload gamma decay also soon, plsss
I love how excited he is to teach us about this it's so cute and makes me excited and interested to learn😊 alpha beta and gamma radiation and their real life application is so fascinating
Lovely explanation sir ❤
This was so simplified and well explained. Thank you!
Thanks for teaching us! You have made it very clear! Keep it up!
Mahesh sir do u work now with normal khan academy?amazing!
@@9-volt247yes he works with khan academy India. Amazing tutor!
شكرا جزيللا على هذا الشرح المبسط والمنظم ^^
This video made me want to study more!
Around 6:00 You talk about a Positron. You say it has the same mass of an electron but the Mass number of the daughter didnt change.
Whats the explanation for that?
Protons and Neutrons have the mass, right? So when the Proton turn into a Positron it should have less mass, right?
what a positron is is a tiny particle that carries a +1 charge, but no weight. so imagine that a proton= neutron+positron
How is it possible, that this video has only 189 likes?
The positron is the electron’s antiparticle right?
What properties do anti neutron have?
Perfect Perfect Perfect Perfect 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
What difference between neutrino and anti neutrino if they are neutral in the first place?
They help balance out the Lepton number (sort of like another charge), which are what electrons and positrons are made of. Lepton number is +1 for any particle and -1 for any anti-particle. Hence, if a positron is emitted (which has a lepton number of -1), we need to add a neutrino (+1 lepton number) to balance even further
Isn’t the positron the electron’s antiparticle?
What properties do anti neutron have?
