      Really? I tried that cream from Carol's Daughter awhile ago and didn't care for it too much. It made my hair feel heavy with buildup and I got a lot of shrinkage. There's glycerin 5th in the ingredients list so maybe thats why my hair shrunk a lot. I'm really glad you're loving it though! That's awesome. How do you use it? I've only tried it for a twist out. Maybe I should try it for a wash n go?! ❤️❤️

    Girl this is one of the few summers that my hair is out during the summer and the frizz is nothing like I’ve ever experienced so so glad to look back on this video. But GIRL that Melanin took my hair out. It’s too heavy for my hair and the glycerin played games with my 4B/4C, high porosity, fine strands, medium density, medium length.

    Girl! The Melanin Twist Elongating Cream made my hair shrink up so bad yesterday. It's so funny how everyone's hair is different. I haven't had any problems with humidity for years using Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting Butter. Lately I've been using Melanin twist cream and yesterday I went for a walk and by the end I had a shrunken undefined fro. Glycerin is just not my friend in the summer time. I'll have to stick with it in the winter months only.

    • @NakiasHideaway
      @NakiasHideaway 5 лет назад +1

      Will give the Melanin Twist Elongating Cream another shot. I forgot I sealed it with Shea Moisture's Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Finishing Elixir. It has sea kelp in it which I've read is a humectant. So I'll try the Melanin cream again without the Shea Moisture Finishing Elixir and see how it goes.

    3:20 honey is a less potent humectant than glycerin so that could also explain it. Also, I think you mean the melanin hair care cream has less hold, because it IS quite moisturizing. Just lacks hold which is different.
    Thanks for the suggestions though. Will try kinky curly leave in. I'm just concerned since I've heard it doesn't pair well with anything else but kinky curly custurd and I prefer gels for twist out in humidity..maybe i could try with a mousse.

    Hi my Lil Glam Madame my favorite cream to use for twists, and braid outs would be by Carrot and Hibiscus Butter. Oh I actually wanted to recommend a brush to you for great detangling. When I got my braids done I saw one of the beauticians in the shop use this for a woman with 4c hair like mine. It was about waist length, and it worked amazingly well, and she detangled her hair very quickly. Its the Wet Brush Pro Epic Quick Dry Hair Brush, and you can purchase it at Amazon.

    It’s so hard for me to find products without glycerin. I don’t think my hair cares too much for aloe either. But if I do find some without it, there’s almond or macadamia it then and I’m allergic to those. 🙁

    Hi Khadisiac, Thank You for the video. I was one of the faithful asking for a video on how you deal with humidity.
    I would like to see your braid out video . Lastly can you do a video on your night time hair regimen; how do you care for your hair at night in reference to products, sleep and next day style?

    • @AfroKhadisiac
      @AfroKhadisiac  5 лет назад

      Hey Makeda! Thank you so much for the request. The braid out video will be up this Sunday! Also, when I style in a braid out or twist out I do the pineapple method to care for my hair at night. When I do wash n gos I do the braiding method. 🧡 🧡

    Thank you for this video AK 🤗🤗. I've been using my clip ins this summer with the front of my hair left out using the oyin whipped pudding and it has been great. Today I decided to use the Carol's Daughter for my wash day and take a break from clip ins. Both products are my fav btw. CD gives me a little more shine tho. And yes KK is the leave in of choice for the summer. I live in high humidity so this video just let me know I'm on the right track. Nice to know I can switch up especially with Mielle's. Also Eden's body works curling cream did good earlier this summer. It's thick and buttery as well. Excited for upcoming videos. You're a super star now girl!! Hair is beautiful as usual.

    • @AfroKhadisiac
      @AfroKhadisiac  5 лет назад +2

      You're so welcome Shayna! Thank you😄; Yesss clip ins during the Summer is a brilliant idea 🙌🏾 Not as heavy as a wig. I love it! ; Ooo Eden Bodyworks Curl Defining Cream is another good one! I like that one for a wash n go paired with the matching leave in conditioner. I believe the cream has Glycerin in it, but I don't think it's within the first 5 ingredients. I'm glad that you're exploring protective styles and trying different products to use this Summer Shayna. I feel like if you switch it up during the Summer and have fun playing around with your hair, you're less likely to feel frustrated with the humidity. You're definitely on the right track. I hope you're enjoying your Summer!

    This was very informative. I also avoid Glycerin in the first 5 but also feel my hair doesn't look it's best with Shea Butter or some Coconut Oil based products although I do get nice results with the Melanin Twisting Cream but not the amount of hold that I like, any recos for a gel to pair it with? My go to combo for long lasting defined twistouts is Soultanicals Knot Butta paired with the Cantu Wave Whip Curling Mousse BUT I achieve the absolute best results using these on at least a day or 2 day old wash-n-go or coilout using the Jane Carter Curl Defining Cream. I've been playing around with a few Mousse products and keep going back to the one by Cantu. This combo and "technique" works for me year-round! The next combo I'm going to try is the TGIN Sweet Honey Hair Milk paired with the TGIN Honey Curls Custard. I'll have to be mindful of the humectants honey and I think agave but hoping for great results.

    Also AK what ingridents are humectants ty😊

    • @AfroKhadisiac
      @AfroKhadisiac  5 лет назад +5

      Glycerin, Honey, Pectin, Sodium PCA are just a few. I don't know every humectant there is, but those are the most common ones that I know of. A lot of naturals try to stay away from glycerin in their products because it's a beast at drawing moisture from the environment and putting it into the hair, causing frizz. I feel like I get the most frizz from glycerin products too so I try to stay away from it as much as possible, or just make sure it's not within the first 5 ingredients.

    • @janthomas9542
      @janthomas9542 4 года назад

      Also my favourite product Aloe is a humectant, which I grow and blend myself 😟 and was using this with veg glycerin on a daily basis as I thought they would help my hair dry and frizzy hair!. Anyways Ive discovered my hair responds better to this combo in the winter than summer, which this video confirms why. I cannot avoid them completely as I need to use up my stash, but going forward I’m going to follow her advice and check they are are in the middle or end of ingredients list and see how I get on. Fingers crossed and great video from London, UK.
