This should be played to every classically trained singer. YOU DON'T NEED TO VIBRATO THE HELL OUT OF EVERY DAMN NOTE. This lady achieves maximum emotional impact with no vibrato whatsoever. Absolutely mesmeric performance.
She's certainly was/is. Never had a really strong voice and apart from this album had limited success. The single Stay with me til dawn should have been a No 1 hit but never achieved that status for some unknown reason. The song really suited her voice.
They simply don't record 'em like this anymore -- one of the most magnificent album tracks of all time. Soaring vocals. . . majestic guitar solo. . . plus those Technicolor-meets-Cinemascope woodwinds and strings. Absolutely epic!
She had such a mellifluous tonal quality to her vocals. The double-tracked harmony sections are sublime and she is so expressive in a yearning/romantic way. I find her music mesmerising. She was an understated and subtle performer. The band are also rather brilliant - led by the magnificent Paxo. They don't write or sing 'em like that anymore.
my first record i bought was this album i still have and have followed her since for you she is absolutely englands finest singer bar none my car number plates are JTZUKE :)
i was in my twenties in the 80's in the US and lucky enough to hear Sportscar and Welcome to the Cruise(the albums) and they have remained two of my favorite all time albums.
Nearly wore out this record - sang every word again and again. Yes there is no-one like Judie - phenomenal voice and superb songwriter. This was the soundtrack to my teenage years.
I heard 'heaven can wait on a radio while working in the middle east, Took me years of searching to find. out who That Voice belonged to. Love at first listen. How she passed under the radar in the days of bananarama!!!! Aaah the music business. God bless her tho' her vocal on Morcheeba's blue chair is the making of that whole album.
Excellent sound quality....thanks for that, it makes a refreshing change! Always loved Judie, even used to be in her fan club in the 70's, first female pop artist I had a crush on! Thanks again!
A stunning album, it is mind-boggling that this was not the biggest selling album in the year of its release, the arrangements and levels of musicianship are brilliant.
an awesome voice, its great that she still tours with family..total respect.please play at mr kyps in poole if your reading rhis...would be a pleasure if you could..spoken as a fan
Why was this frickin' FANTASTIC song NOT released as a single? What the hell was her record label thinking not releasing this "should-have-been-a-smash-hit"? It COULD have been her break-through hit over here in North America, it had mainstream radio potential out the yin-yang! Although I WILL say that it's downright criminal that "Stay With Me Till Dawn" failed to crack the Billboard Hot 100, having bubbled-under at #101, for shit's sake! Judie should have been a BIG STAR is all I'm saying. And much bigger than she actually was in her native U.K. as well.
i love hearing of all your memories connected to this song. now i feel like going to lanzarote in a renault 12 :) well here's my story: someday i discovered her on the internet - meh.
Hi there, hello, it's me from the future. Judie is still brilliant, fresh from a 2022 UK tour with Beverly Craven, Rumer, and my homegirl Julia Fordham!
@MajorSirGerryPending I was also at the Anvil on the 14th. Sat in the second row from the front, and had an amazing view of the lead guitarist, Graham Kearnes, when he was strutting his stuff on a couple of tracks. This is the first live concert I have ever been to. As I am a bit of a studio purist, I was worried that they might mess around with the songs a bit too much, but Judie's voice was just as good live, as the studio recordings. This is when you can tell how good a singer really is.
Very nice voice, and without all those "vocal gymnastics" you hear on a lot of modern day female vocalists. From an engineering point of view- this sounds as though it has been double tracked, or some possible digital effects, given this was recorded in 1979, when the studios started to get in the latest digital lexicon reverbs and delays. If you compare her natural "unprocessed" voice , then listen to her voice at 4:52, you will hear her vocal without effects, except added reverb, singing "no more goodbye" -(especially the word "goodbye" pure and simple single tracked voice, be it with tons of reverb on, but not the voice double "tracking effect"

Apart from Annie Lennox, no pop singer is classically trained.
@@janetalbot431 I was referring to classical singers (of lieder etc.)
@@diogenesagogo yes, I get your drift. You're right.
One of the most under rated and forgotten about singers of all time.
Not forgotten by anybody who MATTERS❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗😁😁😁
@@altheadickerson4771 Very true Althea. once heard never forgotten Judie was/ is like a breath of spring air
Stay with me till Dawn..one of the greatest songs of all time..my next port of call.😂
40 years later and I still regularly listen to this album.
Make it 43
Judie is one of those underated artists. She is brilliant!!!!!!

Absoulutly
One of times biggest mysteries how this album managed to avoid being a number one!
this was good in the late 70,s and is even better today !!!!

100% agree, almost ethereal in parts and her tone is exquisite, dont worry in a parallel world she has a greater success than she did here!
This, sports car, Phoenix, all fabulous albums.

Fantastic lady sings fantastic song. And in concert she takes it to another level still.Brilliant.👌
The best female vocalist I've ever heard and probably will ever hear!! I absolutely hope that when I die Judie will be waiting for me in Heaven! xxx
I bought this album when it was first released - played it for the first time in many years this week. Wow....It's as fresh as it ever was.
Excellent sound quality....thanks for that, it makes a refreshing change! Always loved Judie, even used to be in her fan club in the 70's, first female pop artist I had a crush on!
Thanks again!
I remember being at Glastonbury festival and working there , and being on stage at the side I think that was the year of the lazer show. Strong voice.
1982, my one and only Glastonbury mainly coz JT was on the pyramid stage :)
Best F'kin song ever

I must have worn the vinyl out on this. And I can still remember all the words, and every note of the solo in the middle!

she was brilliant. she could sing the telephone directory and make it sound wonderful
Was??? I think she's still gigging.

She could sing a page from a Haynes manual and it would sound so beautiful .

Looking forward to seeing you at Fareham in October. I have always treasured this album since the day it was released.....
Beautiful song, beautiful person.
Such a great song and so beautifully sung.
Wish i could have been there for the live version, best track Judie has ever done
Wow!

thankyou P J...sorry been out of country...a santa wish...!!
round about 3:40 ... one of THE best guitar solos ever.

Waiting for Sukarita to come in at the end...why the 10.08 running time?
yo tuve el "cassette" de este albùm!....precioso!
tiene canciones muy buenas gracias a morcheba por conocer a esta tremenda artista
I used to listen to this album in the ' 90s...it was awesome...what happened to her?
She never went away, why don't you search for all the great music you missed 🙂
Cannot find a live video performance of this song anywhere.
Has a bit of an Alan Parsons feel about it....superb
Where can I get this album on CD in Australia, dammit? Searched everywhere... nada.
Still going strong, I've had to remind people she's British, most thought she was American, so understand it's criminal.
Did you hear that last tone? It lasted some 5 minutes! ;-)
My dream partnership would be Judie with Morten Harkett.
Me and my brother react to Judie Tzukes' Album on our silly show... check it out here! ruclips.net/video/sf3-nq0_vM4/видео.html
