She was the opening act for Elton John, when I saw him at the Inglewood Forum. I went out the next day and bought both her albums. Great singer!

SUCH an underrated track! The musicianship is off the charts and complement her tremendous vocal prowess. Beautiful!

She was a fantastic singer - with a great band. Her first few albums were sensational.

Those Roto-toms; that key change! One of my favourite songs, and still enjoying it forty years on. Sukarita, let me be, I've gotten used to being free again. Sukarita, walk on by; gotten used to living without you.

I thought they sounded like roto toms...but that would mean the drummer is miming! :)

@@wjb270 I wouldn’t offer it as proof of one sort of drum or another, but the performance generally doesn’t match the sound track too well, noticeably on the vocals from 1’03”

@@wjb270 It's mimed playback, the real drummer on the track is Simon Phillips, not the guy in this video, and at the time he was using a Ludwig Octoplus kit - high to low tone concert toms. He switched to Tama later in 79 after touring Japan with Jeff Beck and Stanley Clarke. The 'roto tom' sound is also apparent on the live recordings of that tour but he was definitely using the Octolplus then, before he moved to Tama.

Nashville checking in ... I don't think there's a bad track on that album. Great songs, great arrangements, well-produced. A classic that a lot of people in the US never heard.
