    I have a pair of DefTec AW6500s powered by an old Parasound HCA stereo 150W amp, with a Raspberry PI running Ropieee as a Roon endpoint. Sounds great. They are under an awning and taken down in the Fall in upstate NY. Glad to hear you are using Blue Jeans cable and I hope you show your neighbor up!

    You had me at Florida didn't have any fall or winter. 😁 I hate winter here in the North East. I drool when I hear it's hot all year round in Florida. Just once I'd like to wake up on Christmas day and it's 72 going to 82! 😀

    Paper seakersI made a solution for dry rot speakers that were so brittle all you had to do is touch them and they would crumble, back in the late 70's 80's on I had to change the formula when we started to see the rubber suspension because the like to crumble without touching them and they didn't like to absorb the liquid mix. The old skewl speakers were a lot easier to work with, I just used a clearcoat thinned out with hot reducer and a flex additive that allowed the speaker to be pliable, now don't forget these were worthless, I saturated the paper until the back side was wet and I sprayed the spider as well, not dripping just wet and you could still recone them, but this worked after testing them with a tone generator. I used to dump the excess into a container and watch it over time with the exact amounts of each and it turned to rubber, I kept doing this until the rubber became good and firm. I still have a set of speakers I did back in the late 70's and they still sound great. If you do this use a cheap set of speakers first, mix it thin, use polyurethane and a little extra rubberized additive and not as much activator (hardener) and give it time to heal, don't forget the spider. Look at the inside of the speaker and verify it's wet. I even repaired a tear and some cracks using this method using my thumb on the outside and a finger on the inside.

    I'm using a pair of the OSD AP840. When I set up the outdoor HT I use a Polk audio CS1 center, the OSD AP840 L/R, Optimus pro LS 3 for rears and a pair of polk audio PW10 subs

    I have sonance inceiling speakers. I love them. No big goddy boxes on the floor taking up space. My out door ones are infinity. There not to bad. There loud though.

    Even our summers have a lot of rain and besides that I don't think it is even allowed to play music outside. You can have a party but not after midnight and you have to inform the neighbours to prevent having the police at your door..

    Run two Boston Voyager 8s for my deck hooked to Sonos and an emotiva A300. They are awesome. Wish someone would make 10inch speakers for outside.

    Hi Gene and thanks for all your audioholics videos! After doing the review for this outdoor speakers, Is it possible if you can do some episodes reviewing and discussing in-ceiling speakers for home theater? I looked around in youtube and there aren't many videos about it. I currently have a 5.1 hometheater setup and want to add 2 in-ceiling speakers to get dolby atmos and dts:x. Thanks very much.

      Yes actually was planning on reviewing the RBH SI-615 in-ceiling speakers that I recently installed for Atmos.

    On your dry rot comment, I have a external dedicated theatre in a garage, it’s insulated and I have thermostatic controlled heating installed. My question is what temperature should I keep the room at when not in use that will not cause problems to my speakers, subs, projector and amp? I am in the uk so the temperature gets a little below freezing in the winter. I had been keeping the room at 50f when not in use but a friend said why bother when that type of equipment in your car has no problems getting cold when not in use

    • @Audioholics
      @Audioholics  6 лет назад

      Getting cold isn't the problem as much as a warm humid environment like we have in Florida. Obviously try to avoid sustained freezing periods if you can and don't try to operate ANY of your equipment beyond their rated temperature limits of operation.

    • @Stevo19801
      @Stevo19801 6 лет назад

      Audioholics so you think I would be fine keeping the room at 40f when not in use and warm it up when using. I have svs subs and jbl305 monitors in there along with an avr and projector?

    • @Audioholics
      @Audioholics  6 лет назад

      Stevo19801 Yes as long as the storage requirements for any of the equipment you listed spec down to 40deg F.

    im just trying to figure a way to mount my rear surround satellites to get good sound in an open concept living/dining/kitchen area which makes up the downstairs of our home, any suggestions?

    • @pabloosvaldopenizzotto1098
      @pabloosvaldopenizzotto1098 6 лет назад

      NES3N1 , I would mount them hanging from the sealing right at the “boundary” of your listening area. Of course to find the proper mounting bracket to do so could be difficult

    You bl#*# lucky #%##, we are having 50 degrees F and the largest rainfall in 13 years.... If speakers can be used at Mars, it is probably possible to use in Norway too :-)
    Although, I don’t use outdoor speakers as I don’t see how they’re gonna survive
    great to see your videos Gene, as always :-))

    @audioholics / Gene. Got rabbit trailed to your videos. I was about to click off when I saw you wearing a Starwars shirt with a Trek cutout in the background. I wonder if you have ever heard of a game called Star Citizen. Its a long way off from being complete but Id bet you would enjoy it.
