      K2SO4 + 4Mg = K2O + MgS + 3MgO stoich. ratio by weight: 25 K2SO4 / 14 Mg

      CuSO4 + 4Mg = CuO + MgS + 3MgO stoich. ratio by weight: 5 CuSO4 / 3Mg
      CuO + Mg = Cu + MgO (simple thermite reaction) -->
      CuSO4 + 5 Mg = Cu + MgS + 4 MgO stoich. ratio by weight: 4 CuSO4 / 3 Mg
      I'm not sure about the Barium sulfate one, as I don't know how exactly Barium sulfate decomposes.
      "at higher temps." are always temperatures that are definetly achived in a burning reaction, what I was trying to indicate was more that, in the first two reaction the second reaction releases less heat energy because the intermediate reaction leading from the first to the second one will consume a bit of the energy released.

    Hi. Can you do more tests about Copper Sulphate+magnesium mix? I have seen that if you heat it up to some point, then try to light it up from distance, it detonates violently. I am curious to know if it can be useful as primary blasting cap, while confined in casing

    You CuSO4(/Mg is heavily underoxidized, it should work a bit better with the stoichometric ratio of 13 parts CuSO4 / 2 Parts Mg, if anhydrous CuSO4 wouldn't be hygroscopic it would make a great and very secure flash (I did a few tests with it, it's nearly impossible to ignite it from sparks even with candle flame it takes quite a while). If you confine it but still left quite a bit of air in the container the same amount of it can actually produce more pressure in the container because the extreme heat causes the air to very rapidly expand (this is true for most flash mixes actually)
    Also try Mg / S in a 1:1 mix (which is also underoxidised, but weirdly it still burns faster than the stoichiometric ratio), it makes a pretty good flash (pretty comparable with the BaSO4 one), it's common among pyro amateurs in Germany because both chemicals are easy to get in bulk from amazon, while nitrates (even as fertilizer) are very restricted.

    • @Linus-nq2op
      @Linus-nq2op 3 года назад

      I just noticed I messed something up with the Copper sulfate one, the ratio is probably closer to 4 parts CuSO4 / 3 parts Mg, although it could be somewhere in between (but it's definetly closer to 4 CuSO4 / 3 Mg).

      @@darianballard2074 sir, please do confined test of that copper sulphate+mg mix. I tried it in confined paper, but it was just fast deflagration. I wonder what will happen if you trap it in metal casing and light via fuse, kind of like metal blasting cap. Will try out myself as soon i find proper metal casing, but still it would be good if you do video about it, since you are professional.

    Interesting, what if you shape that copper mix with a tiny amount of a binder? As for making stuff videos, definitely, could come in handy if you cover fabricating essential items from whatever people can find given there is a good chance that the logistics channels are going to be disrupted for a while.
