Great work. The most to the point and informative, yet simple, source of information on the mechanics of a dual output microphone I've come across so far. Very appreciated!

I love this ORTF variant. It adds numerous perspectives to what is already a fabulous sound scene.

Well done! Very illustrative. Thank you for contributing to the understanding of stereo recording and microphone technique.

Great video, and I'd love to have a pair of those mics. Maybe someday. BTW, what you're referring to as distance factor is similar to what sound reinforcement folks refer to as "critical distance." The difference is that critical distance is used with loudspeakers, not mics. In sound reinforcement, the critical distance is the distance from the speakers at which the energy from the reverberation of the room is equal to the energy coming directly from the speakers. Beyond this distance, speech quickly becomes unintelligible.

Yes critical distance and distance factor are very similar

Hi, I was wondering if you can give me your opinion about the RK-47 vs the JLI-86u capsules? Thx!

I have built 4 mics with the JLI-86u and like them. They are good edge terminated capsule and all four were consistent. I have not built any RK-47 mics yet.

would adding delay between the mics in post create a wider base?

Yes it would. 1msec equates to about 30cm or so.
