I agree some of it were downright ugly; but for me the gowns wore by Venezuela, Russia (2001), Japan, Bolivia are stunning indeed. For ugly gowns, if they cut the unecessary bows on the back, or change the frills on mermaid dress and transform it with flowy design, these gown can be pretty...I think the main point of the designer is to make the wearer look taller. With those design, when u wear it u look shorter!!!

Let's give it for Miss Puerto Rico 2010, that carried a very strange looking dress extremely well. Almost seamless. I'm sure at some point she speculated, or someone did, about the whatever is at the back of the gown. The color was perfect on her because she's a blonde. When she turned back she wasn't the spotlight anymore, the judges were trying to figure her dress out that completely forgot about Mariana Vicente 😩 so sad because she was one of the favorites and she was obviously top 5. She was very well prepared.
