I mean yes, it’s beyond our control, but you can’t tell someone that they will make a mistake again and have that person pay the price for it, just so that that person can suffer again, get yelled at for it again and have the whole world go against him for it because you don’t know that. What if that person doesn’t make a mistake again, what if that person was smart enough to do what’s right and does his or her best to avoid making bad decisions and causing chaos, even if it’s beyond our control. That person should get thanks and praise for it and for a job well done

@@TheMightiestAvenger Everyone makes mistakes. Being perfect for the rest of your life is impossible, so the important thing is to learn from them. The point of the dialogue is to acknowledge that yes, things go wrong, it's how you deal with it after that counts.

@@ariaflame-au what I’m saying is that you can’t tell someone that they’re going to make a mistake again, what type of mistake, and when they’re going to make it. It’s not how it works, mistakes happen naturally. There’s no telling someone to make one, there’s no calculation, or prediction that’s it’s going to happen. It just happens naturally

@@TheMightiestAvenger "What if that person doesn’t make a mistake again" Like ever? In their entire life? I doubt that. If there is one certainty, it's that mistakes will always happen. And in fact, as Luca points out in season 2, thats where you learn and improve the most. I think that's the point Carmy is making, don't get hung up on your mistakes because they're inevitable. Just learn from them and move forward.

From my experience, the best talks and times to connect with your superiors in the kitchen is outside in the alleyway, both smoking a cigarette and talking not like employer to employee, but like a person to another person. They nailed this scene and I can tell the writers either worked in kitchens, or studied their asses off.

That's the main reason why I like the show. I know nothing about the hospitality industry, I've never worked in a kitchen or anything, but I can for sure tell when a writer knows what he's talking about and when actors, crew, etc. really care for a project. There's a plethora of small details that you don't even notice on their own but somehow end up making it feel real.
I'm really glad a small budget show without a cliche theme is receiving such an acclaim because they really deserve it. Stories like these need to be told and need to be told honestly. Can't wait for the second season

Speaking as one of those perceived uptight assholes, we have the best of intentions, and want nothing but the best for all of our comrades, regardless of our tone, or how we may come off to others who simply don't understand where we're coming from, or what we're trying to achieve in the bigger picture. More often than not, we're trying to elevate everything, for the benefit of everyone, and doing our damnedest to bring everyone along, making sure that no one is left behind. It's anything but as black and white as it may seem. At the end of the day, it's not personal, it's professional, yet it's all Love. In some strange way.

Because they both know they fucked up and also that Carmy fucked up. It was an extremely high stressed situation, it didn't matter if they needed to apologize if everyone was remorseful about how things were handled. Sometimes the best apology is that head nod and you move on. Also, it's something we are going to see in Season 2, that plotline is going to be enhanced more with the tension between Syd and Carm. The plotline isn't done, far from it. It just shows how beautifully written the show is, because of how the plotlines intersect with everyone's motivations and how the ending of the season was achieved.
