  • The Chord Mojo 2… It’s got some big shoes to fill doesn’t it? The original Mojo was pretty darn good, and now that you can get one for around $200 on the used market, it made me wonder how much better the new Mojo 2 is. Is it worth $700? What does it improve if anything over the original? How does it compare to the Cayin RU6 (one of my favs)? The Mojo 2 is good, no question, but how good?

I’ve had both but personally prefer the OG Mojo - the newer one is indeed ‘cleaner’ with better separation, more linear bass etc., but the original just has (to my ears) a little more magic and excitement to the presentation, and the separation etc is still fine and clear enough.

I have a Mojo 2 which I use at the office with a DCA Aeon 2 Noire and gotta say I really like it as an excellent (moderately) portable rig. I also love the Clear OG on it. I find the Mojo 2 definitely scales up with more detailed headphones and has allowed me to justify keeping it even though it is a significant fraction of my overall gear budget.

You can still use the uhd eq on mojo2 to sound like og mojo.

Good review! The EQ thing on the mojo2 is big for me because when you listen to different kind of music, it can boost the bass of old recording (1970...)or lower some very bright modern pop music. The crossfeed is really nice on heavy panned mix (like the Beatles). Plus the input choices is very handy for me. I use the optical for tv or my apple AirPort Express, then usbC with IPad Pro and Spdif with my UAD Apollo audio interface. You don't get that at all with the RU6.

I use the Mojo 2 mostly for gaming, but it's extremely good for fatigue-less music listening as well when paired with easy to drive headphones. I adore the EQ on it. I don't use any other form of EQ with my other source gear at this point, it's pretty much spoiled me. Maybe not the best value for US consumers especially if you don't need EQ since the Mojo 1 have been flooding the used market. But if you own efficient headphones it's a hell of an all-in-one unit.

Hi. Potential issue I have noticed with Mojo 2 is that when mojo is connected to power source the electric current leaks into a chasis. It feels like slight tingling under fingers when you touch the mojo. I've tried many chargers and it is always the same. Does yours doing something similar or perhaps I have a faulty unit? Many thanks.

Eq is killer on the new mojo + poly is great for travel and on the go. Also good in a pinch in a 2 channel set up. My main dac went down for a couple of months and the mojo 2 did surprisingly well in the interim. Such a versatile piece of kit.

Personal preference & synergy is definitely important here. I compared RU6 & Mojo with my gear and liked the RU6 more, Mojo was technically better but RU6 was just more enjoyable to listen to.

This includes micro USB so that it's still compatible with their older wireless streaming adapter. I'd say that's better than forcing people to buy a new adapter as well.

Hi nice video, So I just bought the RU7 and compared to my pc's dac (pc is an msi gamerlaptop bought 4 years ago) iits actually worse. Worse imaging, worse soundstage, worse bass and dynamic response, bright overall, mid and treble agressive on my focal celestee... very disapointed. I am looking for a dac/amp that has enough descent bass dynamics and would be able do darken a bit the mid/high of the celestee that I find a bit sibilent. Do you think I should go to a desk dac/amp straight away or the mojo2 is actually an option to consider? The EQ thing is tempting. thanks and keep it up!
