If this were a Galaxy S5 it would have survived over an hour underwater as it is EXTREMELY waterRESISTANT for 30 minutes in 1Metre deep water but unofficial tests have had it last well over an hour in the deep end of a diving pool - would you classify that as a fail as you all expect phones to die underwater? My cousin has an s5 and I was debating which phone to get and I just cant get use to the look of the samsung software even though the features are better such as 1080p screen and 16 mp camera and the fact that its water resistant, but samsung cant touch apple with its user friendliness and itunes, and if you turn off both phones and put them side by side and just observed them, the iphone 6 looks better than the s5. That's not bad. At least if you drop it in water, you have time to save it. It's not as water durable as some other phones. I just watched the Galaxy S6 water test. It lasted 20 minutes no problem. I only need a few seconds to save my phone though.
But what if your kid dropped it in there, without you knowing, you don't know what the future has in store for you. Since the galaxy s6 can last 20 times longer, I think I rather be safe than sorry.
When I first got my iPhone 6 I dropped it into the ocean for about 2-3 seconds . Picked it up and still worked! Amazing this phone lasted that long before it started Wiggin out .

Is it just me or would it be more helpful if you did it for say 5 seconds under water then took it out because unless your planning on giving your phone a bath going for 50 seconds doesn't matter but I kinda want to see if it would be ok after some time from being underwater for just 5 seconds

What if I have a crack? Will that cause it to survive not as long? It's in the top right, that's all, and I'm not sure if behind the glass is exposed but let's just say it is. Would it fry faster/right away?
I guess it really just depends on how deep the crack is. if it's just a small crack in the corner it probably won't affect the phone that much but if it's a deep crack that exposes the inside of your phone, chances are it's not gonna last AS long as the phone did in the video. the water went into the ports. but with cracks on the corner, water might sip through the small parts and your phone might "fry" faster. just don't use your phone in the pool, or in the tub, or at the beach while you're swimming. but if you're worried that you might drop it, you might want to find some lifeproof (that includes waterproof also) case. if you DO have a lifeproof case, don't take it for granted and just drop it in the water and might risking your phone not ever working again. But if you WERE to drop the phone, I'm pretty sure a few seconds in the water won't completely damage the phone. Unless you keep it in there for a minute or so then by then, your phones long gone
JM Maya The test wasn't exactly fair, they tried to charge the S6 but not the iphone (as far as I can remember). Either way, water damage to any phone will most likely mess with the power jack, so I recommend being careful with charging after water damage.
Can you repair it? My mom dropped her phone in a bucket full of water for hours.... Then someone else take it out (my mom does not eve know that she dropped her phone ._.) and now, we don't know what to do with it. We put the phone in rice for like three days and still doesnt work

I just let it stay open until it turned off by itself. But i put it in a bağ full of rice, Will anything happen? Will it still work? Even if it turned off by itself?
If it turns off by its self, it's there is a very good chance that it is fried for good. Sorry. I have some experience. At that point even the bag of rice trick is not likely going to be effective, if you still want to try to salvage it at that point the only option really is to have a professional repair shop have a look.

Guys, thanks for writing back, what happened exactly was that my phone was still working, but it went off by itself, then i turned it back on and the screen turned blue, and it didnt work again since. I was in another country with my mom, and my mom was going back before me, so she took my phone with her, so my dad can fix it, and my dad opened the inside of the phone, and dried the inside completly, and later it worked perfectly fine, nothing is wrong with it. So, yeah... :)

If this were a Galaxy S5 it would have survived over an hour underwater as it is EXTREMELY waterRESISTANT for 30 minutes in 1Metre deep water but unofficial tests have had it last well over an hour in the deep end of a diving pool - would you classify that as a fail as you all expect phones to die underwater? Just wondering. :)

You are saying it died after being under water (at an unknown depth - the deeper it gets the more pressure is pushed upon anything under water thus less waterproof) Anyway, you are saying that it having lasted over double the maximum time that Samsung says it is able to survive under water for is a negative? It is a positive thing! lol Why do you interpret that as a negative when it is actually a positive? 1 hour underwater then died yet it is only meant to last 30 minutes underwater... It is when you like to be around water and not kill your phone in less than 1 minute in an 'oops' moment... :) Also, the point of waterproofing is not just those accidental drops into water - it is to allow you to not limit your life and opens new opportunities such as going to the pool or beach and not worrying about the water also being able to take great videos and pictures underwater then put the phone in your pocket while wet and such is also handy.
You shouldn't have turned it on. You should've put it in a bag of rice overnight and then checked if it turned on.

That's not bad. At least if you drop it in water, you have time to save it. It's not as water durable as some other phones. I just watched the Galaxy S6 water test. It lasted 20 minutes no problem. I only need a few seconds to save my phone though.
But what if your kid dropped it in there, without you knowing, you don't know what the future has in store for you. Since the galaxy s6 can last 20 times longer, I think I rather be safe than sorry.

Is it just me or would it be more helpful if you did it for say 5 seconds under water then took it out because unless your planning on giving your phone a bath going for 50 seconds doesn't matter but I kinda want to see if it would be ok after some time from being underwater for just 5 seconds
I know but we dont know that if he took it out at 10 seconds that it would work 10 minutes after do we? We know it will last that long submerged but as I said I want to know if it works after its taken out of the water and left, because that's what happens when you actually drop it in the bath ect.
What if I have a crack? Will that cause it to survive not as long? It's in the top right, that's all, and I'm not sure if behind the glass is exposed but let's just say it is. Would it fry faster/right away?
I guess it really just depends on how deep the crack is. if it's just a small crack in the corner it probably won't affect the phone that much but if it's a deep crack that exposes the inside of your phone, chances are it's not gonna last AS long as the phone did in the video. the water went into the ports. but with cracks on the corner, water might sip through the small parts and your phone might "fry" faster.
just don't use your phone in the pool, or in the tub, or at the beach while you're swimming. but if you're worried that you might drop it, you might want to find some lifeproof (that includes waterproof also) case.
if you DO have a lifeproof case, don't take it for granted and just drop it in the water and might risking your phone not ever working again. But if you WERE to drop the phone, I'm pretty sure a few seconds in the water won't completely damage the phone. Unless you keep it in there for a minute or so then by then, your phones long gone

JM Maya The test wasn't exactly fair, they tried to charge the S6 but not the iphone (as far as I can remember). Either way, water damage to any phone will most likely mess with the power jack, so I recommend being careful with charging after water damage.

i dropped my iPhone 6 in the toilet yesterday (its in a bag full of rice now)
Ik now that i had to pick up the phone and turn it off completly but i didnt do it. I just let it stay open until it turned off by itself. But i put it in a bağ full of rice, Will anything happen? Will it still work? Even if it turned off by itself?
If it turns off by its self, it's there is a very good chance that it is fried for good. Sorry. I have some experience. At that point even the bag of rice trick is not likely going to be effective, if you still want to try to salvage it at that point the only option really is to have a professional repair shop have a look.

Guys, thanks for writing back, what happened exactly was that my phone was still working, but it went off by itself, then i turned it back on and the screen turned blue, and it didnt work again since. I was in another country with my mom, and my mom was going back before me, so she took my phone with her, so my dad can fix it, and my dad opened the inside of the phone, and dried the inside completly, and later it worked perfectly fine, nothing is wrong with it. So, yeah... :)

And it's nice to have a phone that you accidentally drop it into water for a second that it doesn't fry it. I was taking on my iPhone one day when it was raining and one rain drop went down in the headphone jack and it fried it. I pay over $600 for something I'd like for it to be a little more damage proof than that:/
