    Let's go! Great vid. In 2 years I am on my 4th wheel base (G29, CSL DD, DD2, SC2). This is great and I wish I had it before! No more ecosystems!

      And ecosystems aren't for me, they are easy to get going, but you quickly realize, the best stuff is made by various companies. I think ecosystems have good setups, but great gear is made by so many. It is more an a-la carte world. lol

    Great guide my guy! Totally right about the buy once cry once, but like you said we always want more. I have found half the addiction of sim racing for myself is upgrading my rig and keeping up on new sim tech. I wish there were more places you could go to try out gear before you buy. It would be cool to be able to experience the different levels of ffb and the different wheel base models + rims +pedals, because it is pretty subjective if you will like the feel or not, and it is hard to tell from reviews without actually trying them out. This would have saved me a lot of money along my upgrade path.

      Dude, you and me are the same guy. lol. Microcenter is getting into the sim game, and honestly, if I had the capital, I would open a pit lane sim race shop. Where you can test the popular gear and get races in. Just the capital is crazy to start those businesses.

    Some great advice and suggestions…. I definitely went down the route of buy once cry once 🤣 took a bit longer to save up but worth it in the end. I also built a diy rig to my own design which was great fun but also allowed me to keep tinkering with it as I picked new ideas from Rig pics. Being able to try or handle items before you buy is a valid point as many of us rely on RUclips reviews. One thing I find amazing about this hobby is how it is developing and more options are now available than when I first started dreaming up my build. I also enjoy seeing how different set-ups are put together and how folk have maximised their budget.

      You are 100% correct and you were the smart guy. You waited patiently, and went more methodical. It’s the smart thing and the smart play. It also great to see it grow. I am relatively new to sim racing but have played racing games my whole life and this is just awesome where it is now. My buddy just built his rig out of wood and it’s pretty good. As fund and budget go up, it will allow people to do more things with the money they have.

    Thank you so much. A wealth of information in this video.
    I know I would have "wasted" a lot of money if I did not take my time and researched what options was avaialble and what I would actually want to spend.
    I still have a way to go before I get exactly what I want, but I am happy with all the descision I have made so far.
    [EDITED]
    I would agree most heartedly with saving to buy what you want and not spend on a product that you eitehr regret buying or will upgrade sooner than later.

      Glad I was able to help in any small way. Yeah it is a looooong process. My long term goal is a motion rig, active pedal when its a reasonable price, triple 32" monitors and a proper review area in the basement of my new house. Definitely years away, but the process is the fun part to be honest.

    Good video! Just came across your channel. I just got done ordering my setup. I jump in the deep end right off the bat with a used moza r16 I got really cheap. Lots of option and very confusing on how you should plan your build path. You did a really good job breaking it down!

      The sim path is a tricky path for most of us. We learn on our own and spend way to much money in the process. Hopefully people can learn from my mistake. And honestly you made a good choice. Jump in and cry once. You should be good for quite a long while. What wheel you get first?

      @@grayzedynamics I got the ca v2 for now due to cost and versatility. I wish I waited though I didn’t know the r12 was coming out but I’m definitely gonna grab that f1 wheel that comes with it. 400+ for a wheel is a little high right now. It’s killing me I waited till last to order a rig so now I have everything sitting here torturing me lol.

      Cost and versatility is a good thing to be honest. Yeah, in the sim world, things change so much, that when you buy, there seems to always be a modicum of regret. There are so many wheels out there to purchase and that are pretty good.

    18:35 - you are talking about how the NM output from these bases is based on the power supply size. In the past I had been worried about beefier bases increasing my energy bill, math time.
    Moza R5: 95 watts
    Simucube 2 Pro: 450 watts
    Say I use both wheelbases at 100% capacity (unrealistic), for an average of 5 hours per week, for a whole year. If electricity costs $0.139 per kWh, then:
    Moza R5 : $3.45
    Simucube 2 Pro: $16.32
    So it is negligible!

    • @trevz1048
      @trevz1048 Год назад +1

    I started with a g25 wheel with the original wheel stand and used it quite often but stoppped using it as i diddnt enjoy any of the racing sims and interest fell off.
    My interest fell off because the original wheelstand was not a true indication of using a wheel and pedals. Ergonomics it was not fun and if you are not setup correctly, you wont enjoy it and thats what happened to me.
    Long story short, my pro tip is skip using deskmounting or the basic wheelstand(with the single pole running in the middle and invest at minimum a wheelstand 2.0 from NLR or ideally a actual cockpit .
    You will not enjoy it if your position and comfort is wrong

    • @grayzedynamics
      @grayzedynamics  Год назад +1

      I agree the comfort will be wrong. I started w/ the used CSL Elite base and the GT Omega wheelstand. I was addicted the moment I started on iRacing. It was fun and I wanted more. I should have taken Glenns approach and started to save, but I incrementally upgraded and spent more money in the long run. It all depends on the individual, that is why this is all so subjective, b/c my experience clearly was not yours.

    Are you skipping Logitech because the entry level DD prices have gone down?

    • @grayzedynamics
      @grayzedynamics  Год назад

      I do include Logitech in both the used section at the start and the individual wheelbase section. The problem w/ Logitech and their DD drive for me is you cannot purchase w/out the wheel. So for their 11nm base, it is $999, and for that money, you can get the 12nm Moza R12 and a KS wheel for less. Or so many others. I think their price point is too steep for entry into the lower tear, 8 - 12nm range.

    • @akpanjennings
      @akpanjennings Год назад +1

      @@grayzedynamics true the cog driven models probably aren’t event worth it now since CSL DD packages are $399

    • @grayzedynamics
      @grayzedynamics  Год назад

      Right. And if i had to choose. The CSL DD 5nm is the better buy. Because the upgrade to 8nm is just a power supply away. Whereas with Moza you have to get a new wheelbase.
