I have my male red sided Eclectus for 33 years now. He likes to be the center of attention and talks a lot when he is in a group of people. He is naturally raised by bird parrots and never hand raised and is still my most people friendly bird.
Omg, when you stretched his wing out I am just in awe of the brilliant purples and blues! Oh my gosh that is so stunningly beautiful! To be able to watch him fly in person must be so jaw dropping! I don't think I would ever take that kind of impressiveness for granted! That is really out of this world!!
Recommended time outside the cage for ALL parrots is way more than 1-2 hours!! It should be around 4-6 hours a day they have outside of cage time. The longer the better. If you can’t do that long that’s okay. The 1-2 hours is alright but then you really need to make sure they have a LARGE cage with plenty of toys and foraging activities to take part in to keep them busy and their brains stimulated. Engaged not caged!
Also all parrots (besides a select few I.e like lorikeets) should be on a mix fresh food diets and very little seed mix. Sprouts are AMAZING for any bird but they’re not 100% necessary.
You should also really work on flight training. You don’t have to free fly outside by any means but working their flight muscles is so so important even more so that they’re in captivity. They need to know how to ascend and descend. I know you said he’s mainly an in door bird but accidents happen and if one were to occur, you really want to set your bird up for success just in case. It’s also just a great way to bond and keeps them busy birdies!
Blow drying with certain blow dryers can also be dangerous if the blow dryer has Teflon or iron in it. It won’t be a instant death sentence but it could get them very sick.
Not hating at all by the way. Just wanna make things more clear as the explanations were a bit cut and dry and some of the things are not very safe to be doing even in moderation 😅Overall very great video though. I love jinky!
I got same male , but after years I can confirm that eclectus is amazing. Negatives: anger management problem (just 20% of time) the way of living really close with eclectus is reading him. There are moments he doesn't want something, if you forcing him the blood gonna pour ;messy : you need at least 1.5 kilogram of dry feed a month but 70% is waste. You would feed 10 cockatiels of just waste of dry food. Also need fruit and vegetables. Plus pellets. Some days their attitude is just amazing some day gonna bite 😬😁 most of eclectus just force you to let him be outside the cage when you are at home. So our average outside the cage is like 5-6 hours a day 🙈 I can compare with smaller parrots also, eclectus is higher maintenance parrot, but amazing.
agree with all you said
I HAD THE FEMALE , SHE WAS REMARKABLE AND TALKED NON STOP ,,, AND WAS SO BEAUITFUL
@@loveSAVE-e7k how old was she?
@@masakeris i hand raised her since 5 weeks old i had her for 5 years , and had to find her home, due to some problems with noise neighbors and my allergies , anyway miss her dearly , she talked and they scream plenty for attention
That head bobbing is probably due to your hand movements and your voice while making the video -- hormonal responses. Head bobbing says "I am an awesome male Eclectus -- males should back off and the ladies should be impressed!" . But he doesn't take it to the "next level" which is good. In a couple of cases you were rewarding him with a kiss or eye contact after he did it. Head bobbing and "marching" are behaviors that should not be affirmed. He is a beautiful boy and seems very happy as do you! Great video. Thanks for sharing! Subscribing.
So interesting. I’m always impressed to hear what these little movements mean 💚
What a beautiful parrot. I had a female Eclectus but sadly she passed away aged 8 years due to a chest infection at the vets. I loved her so much and still miss her. I now have an Indian Ringneck in blue which is untamed. Taming it is provoking very difficult but I still enjoy him.
Sorry for your loss. ❤
He is still kinda young right? You might not hormonal issues until he is 3+ years old. Id recommend not petting him too much below the neck in any case. I have a male too and they are amazing birds ^^
He’s 3!
I’ve heard this before. However, Jinky doesn’t respond to it and I haven’t seen a change in his behaviour. Hence why I do it.
They are beautiful souls 💚
Because he’s still a youth and hasn’t hit puberty yet. He will. Plus I’ve read about how the oils from our hands can disrupt the oil glands they access for preening.
@@madebynicolezan please please please research this issue. You should should not pet them on the back or under the wings because on the back is where their organs are their sex organs. Google this. His behaviour will change trust me. I mentioned in another video google hormonal behaviour BirdTricks, their RUclips channel is so informative.
Hormonal behaviors often kick in after 2 years. 3 years is a bit of a stretch.
Hi Nicole, I'm so grateful that I discovered this vid and your channel. Jinky is so charismatic and such a handsome boy! I've had a female ekkie myself for about 16 years and she's an absolute doll. I've been feeding her pellets along with fresh fruit/veggies but never considered sprouted seed so will be looking into this. Looking forward to more Jinky content and keep up the great work!
Thank you so much 😊
Wow! That’s amazing. I can’t wait to grow old with my Jinky 💚
Thank you x
I have both male and female. I’ve had Freya for over 5 years, Fen for 2. Fen is 23 years old. Neither will let you pet them. I let them have free rein over my house, all day, every day that we’re home. I cannot stand the thought of keeping them locked up. Freya is quite aggressive at times, while Fen is really laid back. Both jabber all the time. I will say they are absolutely hilarious. Especially when they chase the cats around (just playing). I just wish they were more affectionate. They absolutely love fruit and vegetables. I use those as treats-or nuts. They’re not afraid to try anything new. They also love scrambled eggs and string cheese. They basically steal whatever I’m eating. I have to say their absolute favorite is cooked noodles of any type lol. And berries! Basically just food. Their favorite toys are cat balls with bells in them. I love them to pieces, I just wish I could snuggle with them 😢
Jinky is so cute! Omgosh 💕
Isn’t he just?! 💚
@@madebynicolezanhe’s not cute or beautiful
he’s adorable
4:00 the way I gasped! Those are beautiful feathers. I’ve been considering a elected parrot but my question is, are they good with conures? Would I be able to train them to atleast get along?
I've had my 16 week old male Eckie for about two weeks now, he eats like a horse ( two bowls of fresh chop a day and a kebob of fruit and veggies).
Eat and poop is all he does.......that's it , doesn't do much of anything else so far🥺. He'll step up and allow a little bit of petting but he's not very interactive or excited about anything, just sits on his perches or a shoulder and watches the world. I really hope this changes over time, otherwise I could have saved thousands and glued some feathers on a rock.
How's he doing now?
Goodness sounds like a growing eckie 💚💚💚
Thank you for sharing about your beautiful boy x
How is he now??
@madebynicole how did you get him to be so comfortable being held like that? Did you do clicker training or just shower him with love and handle him a lot?
Jinky was in the spotlight today and it was adorable to see dear nicole !!! he is just so beautiful and his colour so so beautiful !! loved hearing some facts too !!! yes i cannot imagine now your channel without him! how cute when you look at each other !!!! aweee you wash him thats adorable nicole !
Isn’t he just? He loves it too!
Thank you so much ❤️
He’s definitely a big part of it 💚
This is just the cutest 🦜☺️✨
Thank you 😊
@@madebynicolezan your welcome
Your parrot is a beautiful shade of vivid green! Parrots have the most beautiful coloring of any animal I've ever seen! Yours is no exception! Quick question - the accent over the N in your last name, I've never seen that before! Is that Eastern European like Czech or Hungarian or something like that? I'm very curious to know! Thank you for this great video and introducing us to your pet Jinky!
I have a couple ekkies that I got here in PNG as babies...paid like $15 US!! Lol anyway, I would highly recommend a birdie mash with more of a focus on veggies. You can keep it much longer of you freeze it. I get my ekkies eating veggies they normally wouldn't by processing it and getting it finer than just chopping. I put about a cup of mash with his daily probiotics and stuff along with a fresh piece of fruit...
He gets plenty of veggies! A wide range of veggies, fresh and frozen ❤

awww thats a cute little parrot! Beautiful colors!

Pretty bird
such a cute little cutie!!! I bet they are social 😅😂
Isn’t he just?
So social 🤍🤍🤍
I’m watching the video because of you, seeing the parrot is a nice extra…
I'm hearing you talk about soaking their nuts. Can they not eat whole dry nuts like almonds and walnuts? What about raw (without salt) sunflower seeds? I see you throwing some pistachios in the mix, so I'm assuming hard nuts are ok. They certainly have the beak for it!
Hi Nicole ✨ Jinky is sooo adorable & such a beautiful lorikeet 🦜 We have 17 parakeets & I also love birds so much 🐦 🐤 🦜 Very beautiful & very engaging vlog & it was very exciting & fun watching till the end 🎥 You are looking so pretty sweetheart 💖 Very beautiful & joyous presentation ❤️ Thank you for this lovely sharing 💕 Have a nice day 🌤 Greetings 🇺🇸

Jinky is a magnificent specimen, good luck to you guys🙏🏽👍🏽🇦🇺Hi from Tuncurry
Hi Nicole! I didn't know he could do all that... He is amazing!! 🥰🥰🥰
he absolutely is! thank you for your lovely comment x
He’s a beautiful boy. I’m thinking of getting one because I’m stuck in an apartment now and I don’t think it’s right to bring a dog in one. My cats have passed away, one was 21 and the other 20. Had them both since they were 8 weeks old. I’ve never had a bird so I’m thinking I should probably start with a budgie, what do you think?
What's the benefit of having their seeds sprout? Are there some extra nutrients or something? I'm trying really hard to figure that out.
Love your ekkie 🥰 what kind of eclectus is he? Mine is a Solomon island eclectus.
Thank you so much x
I actually don't know what ekkie he is exactly 😆
Jenky is a rockstar
Absolutely is!

I have an Alexanderine parrot it has chewed my headphones i hide my phone charger and other accessories before leaving my room and going to work most of the time it open not in its cage
Are birds like Jinky sensitive to high pitched sounds like dogs? Can they hear sounds we can't hear that are out of our hearing range? I'd love to know that if you know. Thank you!

Oh yes!
Wow that a Beautful parrot dear love this dear❤
What subspecies is he from?
I don't understand, I feed my eclectus the same things you feed yours and yet mine has black feathers (they don't grow in that way but they turn black over time). Yours has such beautiful feathers!
Stress marks supposedly are what black feathers are called. Mine has them too. His feather quality is not good looking, but I swear mine has a very low stress environment, and gets tons of time to exercise, so it must be too much petting I guess.
m.ruclips.net/video/6X8v4BkcLE4/видео.html
This video explained that the black feathers have something to do with the oils reacting to the oils on our hands so I guess less petting may help
The oil they produce for their feathers interacts eith the oil in our hands so if they are over handled or touched too much u can get the black feathers
I have the same issue with my Ekkie. I’ve tried everything i can think of to help him have healthy feathers. I also noticed he’s very rough when he preens himself. His environment is pretty low stress. He’s out of his cage most of the day until it’s bedtime. We don’t even give him nuts. Just fresh fruits , veggies and pellets
@@deeta702 That sounds just like my story :/. After speaking with several vets and my original breeder, apparently it's a problem with many domestic bred eclectus who aren't genetically diverse enough. They produce either too much or not enough keratin, making poor quality feathers that aren't stress marks but easily damaged over time. My breeder tried to sell me my eclectus male's sister to breed with :O. Later I found out that it's common practice to do this as eclectus parrots aren't imported anymore and don't have enough others to breed with to make their line diverse enough. It's far more common in the US than in Australia due to this.
Thay are great pets I had one year ago he was the best
That is a mere.
Look at my smarty pants girl
Congratulation on the vídeo and I wish a great day
Thank you for watching ❤
You mentioned toilet training. How did you do it?
He came to me toilet trained 💚
I wish I knew the key 💚
I know Jinky can hold it up to 20 minutes and sometimes I will put him on the cage and he will do it and come back out for play 😊
I have two of them. What special diet can I use?
You know what my girl enjoys is corn kernels and there is onenut, cannot think of it now, she loves, apples, brown pears, tomatoes, oranges, tangerines and her dad. I were mad
LOVE Y'ALL CAN Y'ALL WHISTLE FOR ME?
Where is he now??

Nothing says love like a lil vomit 🤢 😂
Haha! I couldn’t agree more 💚
Not vomit which comes from stomach and contains acid. Parrots regurgitate food from their crop.
Apple seeds toxic
Absolutely! And avocados 🥑
