@madebynicole how did you get him to be so comfortable being held like that? Did you do clicker training or just shower him with love and handle him a lot?

I have both male and female. I’ve had Freya for over 5 years, Fen for 2. Fen is 23 years old. Neither will let you pet them. I let them have free rein over my house, all day, every day that we’re home. I cannot stand the thought of keeping them locked up. Freya is quite aggressive at times, while Fen is really laid back. Both jabber all the time. I will say they are absolutely hilarious. Especially when they chase the cats around (just playing). I just wish they were more affectionate. They absolutely love fruit and vegetables. I use those as treats-or nuts. They’re not afraid to try anything new. They also love scrambled eggs and string cheese. They basically steal whatever I’m eating. I have to say their absolute favorite is cooked noodles of any type lol. And berries! Basically just food. Their favorite toys are cat balls with bells in them. I love them to pieces, I just wish I could snuggle with them 😢

Awesome video, awesome looking bird. Sadly many wannabe bird owners do not realize the commitment involved in owning a bird. I have an African Gray, inherited from a friend that sadly passed away due to covid vacs adverse event, and it took me almost 2 years for us to bond and develop a mutual respect and trust in each other. The amount of commitment involved is almost as much as having a 5 year old child in the house. And you 100% correct, once you have mutual respect and trust for each other, biting is no longer an issue. PS: But I must say, after doing lots of reading/research on my African Gray, I ran across several articles & videos on the Eclectus, and I doubt I would be able to handle one of them, because it seems like it is supper difficult to read their mood or intentions.
