  • Fletch (1985) follows the quick-witted and charming investigative reporter, Irwin "Fletch" Fletcher, as he stumbles upon a murder-for-hire plot. While undercover on a drug story, Fletch is offered a large sum of money to kill a dying millionaire. Smelling a rat, Fletch dives headfirst into the mystery, adopting various disguises and using his cunning wit to uncover the truth behind the shady proposition. This classic comedy is filled with laughs, clever dialogue, and Chevy Chase's iconic performance as the irreverent Fletch.

I have read all the "Flech" books and they are absolutely fantastic! This movie does NOT do them justice!

Completely wrong take by Roger Egbert. Chevy's nonstop wisecracking is what makes this movie entertaining and a cult classic. The story is great but Chase's glib and smarmy smart assery is what make "Fletch" a classic.

Ok! But in the books Fletcher is much more subtle and clever! The books are really much better than the movies
