    You forgot to include "DEEP" staging, where you pull past the double bulb and only the bottom bulb is on. That's mostly in bracket racing but its a part of racing. However, still a very informative presentation.

      Deep staging is essential in real drag racing where reaction matters. It is a skill, not a way to cheat. If the other guys turbo car can't spool, too bad. I always try to double bulb or go deep when I race a turbo car. Maybe that way we will start to see more people go back to more interesting builds with n/a, blowers and nitrous. You don't need a turbo to run 8.50, just a good motor and a good setup.

    • @village_ram
      @village_ram 3 года назад +2

      there is no advantage when deep staging. Deep staging takes away a lot of your "rollout" while the ambers are on before the green light turns on. Getting a low or perfect reaction time while shallow staging as shallow as possible is more advantageous that getting a perfect or low reaction time when deep staging. Shallow staging allows you to leave on the ambers and cross the start line or stage beam with a significant momentum.

    • @geomodelrailroader

      yup and you need to be careful and the NHRA rule is do not deep stage your car when you are staging because if you go deep and your opponent is not up to the line and he goes deep you can get disqualified and your opponent wins by technical.

    The only reason people are saying "you burned Yourself down.." is because you just got up on the converter too soon.
    Understandable mistake because you have ALWAYS been a turbo guy, so you're used to needing a little more time to build your boost, but with the Procharger/Blower stuff (as you know) it's a faster process .. just wait til BOTH cars are fully staged before you get up on the Transbrake/Converter - that way there's NO chance of a "burndown" 👍👍
    JohnnyDough, I know you already know ALL this, but this comment was moreso meant for the window-lickers that can't seem to talk about things they ACTUALLY understand or know ANYTHING about. They just like to talk shit to other waterheads on here. So this is ONLY a clarification for that group of mouth-breather followers...
    As always, loved the daily uploads! Good Work brother!

    Also I seen this in the pro classes DO NOT DEEP STAGE YOUR CAR WHEN YOU ARE STAGING! If you go in deep and your opponent is not up to the line yet and he goes deep he gets blinked and you get disqualified for courtesy staging. Make sure both cars are in prestage before you go deep because if you go in deep and your opponent is prestaged you can get disqualified for triple bulbing. That happened at Topeka in August when John Force raced Cruz.

    Question...Im PROOOO noob...never been to a drag strip and dont want to embarrass myself...I never did a burnout in my car because the tires are so expensive and I never tried because I can’t afford anything on my driving record and dont wanna be caught somewhere practicing...but I want to go to a drag strip to see how I like the experience...im in C7 Corvette with manual transmission and is more worried about the water box...can I avoid the water box when going to stage so im not forced into trying to practice a burnout and possibly embarrass myself at the track or be kicked out lol or even from ruining my tires in general?...

    So the yellow lights come on for 4 tenths of a second does that mean the green light comes on 4 tenths of a second after the very instant the yellow lights come on?.....is the length of time between the lights the same every time...to put it the simplest way i can once both cars are full stage does the green light come on after the same amount of time every time?......or is the timing of the light randomized ever so slightly every race by a tenth of a second here or a 2 tenth of a second there?

    John check out the KC cash days video that 1320 put out and watch the part where the turbo foxbody supposedly burnt down the black f-body nitrous car in the rules they set for that race you had 5 seconds to stage and if you watch closely the cheerleader for the f-body gave the flager a thumbs up letting him know the driver was ready and they started the timer way b4 the thumbs up and they clocked it 7 seconds so they DQ'd the foxbody for bumping in late but if you ask me the foxbody bumped in 2 seconds after the thumbs up

      So long as you are NOT deep or too deep in staging...otherwise red light. I shallow stage and break off the button at early yellow for a near perfect launch, but practice makes perfect. Not all cars react them same

      Learn to deep stage and let the other guy panic about getting his turbos to spool. If you go deep you get the most time and the shortest track. Learn to put out that prestage bulb as soon as you go in. Look at the best of the pros. That's how you race.

    So how does having a guy help you stage actually benefit you anyways? I mean since you can see the boxes from your car shouldn't you be able to just get close and then start inching until bulbs are lit? I'm no drag racer so i'm just curious.

  • @AB-80X
    @AB-80X 3 года назад

    I don't know if it is just me, but I cannot stand the whole courtesy staging culture resulting from guys trying to be fast with junkyard LS turbo builds - especially in events where pro trees are used and reaction is key. Your car is either fast or it's not. If you can't spool fast enough to hang on, that's on you, not the N/A or blower guy. Part of being fast is having a car that is able to react and move out, and part of being fast is being able to keep cool when the other guy stages. Staging has always been part of the tactics in drag racing. If you want to have curtesey staging, you might as well lose the pro tree and just run time trials like you do at Drag Week and LS Fest. Last time I raced a turbo car, he got a low 10 second time in his turbo high 8 second car because I was able to mess with his mind. He thought I would play nice, but as soon as he took prestage not only did I double bulb him, I went in fast and fully deep staged putting out my prestage bulb. That's how you race, and that's how you win. This millennial shit where all have to win and everything is unfair if you don't win, is unhealthy and not worth a toss. You think John Force or the Pedrigon brothers got to where they are by being curteous? No. It's a race. If your hair dryers can't spool, tough. But don't blame the other guy.

    You know what's sad? This video is SO needed to be watched by too many drivers.
    There should be a sticker attached to every single racing wheel.
    A> install wheel in your hotrod
    B> Sit down in your new seat and envision yourself doing 200mph despite your car having an old non refurbed LS1 and two self-installed/self-activated nos solenoids spraying directly in the top of your intake/carb(read the sticker)
    C> If you don't have somebody behind your damn car to stop you from backing right back into the burnout water in the water box after you just did your burnout, put your shit back on the trailer.
    D> Go watch the fucking video. Seriously, don't be that POS guy burning people down because you CAN'T stage let alone pull a little Stevie Jackson waiting on you to finish double bulbing and fucking with your mind kind of stage
    One thing you did miss. Reaction times. If you wait for a green light and actually see the mother lit, if you are average, you are already .25 behind the light/other person because from the time you see a light to your hand. That's IF you use a button on your wheel to launch. If you're on a pedal it's .41 or more for the signal to go from your brain to push the pedal down all the way to your foot.
    If you are facing cars that are heads up the same as you and you cut a .25 or .41 light, you will be DEAD because decent people who time a light are in the 0.09-0.15 area. Just them launching quicker than you means your car has to be hundredths of seconds faster which on an eighth you might just as well not even hit the gas or on a quarter you better hope his car or his driving fucks up because competitive racing has gotten to a point where your car, same weight, similar engine, etc etc are generally within a couple hundred or even thousandths of time from start to finish IF they launch at the same time. If you start .25 or .41 behind, that just means you will be that much slower unless your car makes it up for you. The point to that is if you can be fast off the light, your car doesn't have to be the fastest on the track to win.
    Smart people who race a bunch put tons of time into guessing lights. What a lot of people DON'T know is that you can train your eye to hand/eye to foot coordination to be faster. NHRA drivers do it constantly. Juggling and doing things while watching TV where their eyes to hand or eyes to feet are being tested nonstop. It's not a guess, it's science that you can make it faster. Go watch your average NHRA driver when it's racing time. They're twitchy like they're on hour 24 after the Methamphetamine wore off and need a fix. I've seen soooo many NHRA drivers that look like they're nervous wrecks. Probably some sort of upper in them I guess?

  • @MrLightning54
    @MrLightning54 5 лет назад +1

    I like your videos, but I have to say that on your burn-down video, and with you being a blower car, you have almost every advantage to sit there and make the turbo guy sweat and do Everything first. You staging first, and in a hurry was a move I would never ever do in your car, especially with a turbo car in the other lane. Keep up the good racing, and good videos though.

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X 3 года назад

      Unless you run some oddball event where you don't have a proper tree, there's always an advantage to go deep. The tracks should not be allowed to do this crap where turbo cars get a lunch break to spool. Once the timer is on, that should be it. The cool thing about deep staging in a fast spooling blower or n/a car is that if the other guy don't stage or don't prestage, you can just count to three after you go in and you know that the tree is about tp come on. This crap about giving the other guy all the time in the world as long as he does not prestage is unacceptable, and does not belong in an event where you run pro trees and fast reactions. That crap is for nights where it is just for times, testing and training - it is not for racing.

    @john doc Question, why do people, usually a few, put their hands on the car during a burnout and then semi-push/chase it up to staging. What is the point of that?

    • @justin_parks

      To keep the car straight so it lays rubber down straight. Mostly important on the street and no preps

    • @TheTrueAdonis1

      Yeah for sure. When the tires are spinning you can easily push the rear end either way. Try it next time your buddy is roasting them off, just watch where you put your feet. And both rear wheels have to be spinning.

      Tell us all why a blower car would fully stage and go up against the converter first against a turbo car please.

    • @jkfonyi
      @jkfonyi 5 лет назад

      He waited for turbo car to start staging when it didn’t he went to full stage to start the clock because the car is heating up and he can’t idle for ever waiting for someone to figure out how to do there job. There is not much marching for error on temperature on a waterless billet engine. You warm it up in pits drag to staging start it pull up do burn out back it up wait a short amount of time to do staging process then make your hit. By the end of that process the temps are hot there isn’t time to wait around running cause someone can’t figure it out so he tried to start the timer not knowing the timer was turned off. So there’s your explanation.

    • @MrLightning54
      @MrLightning54 5 лет назад

      I don't see why on earth he needed to plant his right foot before the turbo car was fully staged, but yeah...Sounds good!@@jkfonyi

    • @jkfonyi
      @jkfonyi 5 лет назад

      jeff skaarland Johns car was getting too hot waiting so he went all the way in to full stage. Normally 7 seconds later the bulbs would drop and go green , so he went in waited a couple seconds revved car to clear it out then when he thought he was close to 7 seconds he started getting on converter. The problem was the bulbs didn’t drop so he let off gas wondering what was going on why he didn’t get the green. Then finally other car got in after 15 seconds or so. The real problem was the tree didn’t have timer turned on to auto drop bulbs after someone is full staged for seven seconds.
