The best flying machine ever. I'm sorry to see my old friend retired. It will always be in my memory thanks to Grumman, Pratt and Whitney and Hugh's Aircraft.
I was 13 years old when I was at that Airshow, I've been going to it since I was 2 years old and it never gets old, though I do miss seeing the F-14 perform. But that's progress, but either way though a great way to relieve that demo, nice job.
Not sure how this ended up on my feed, but My God She was a sexy aircraft. Swift, agile as hell, and tough. The Tomcat will ALWAYS be My favorite fighter.
As many times I watch videos of this aircraft, it never gets old. One of the ultimate aircraft built for our navy. Too bad, it had to retire due to high price maintenance. We salute you, tomcat baby...
Well, not just the maintenance costs. Gates wanted the tomcat KILLED! Tomcat 21 would've given the cat a 21st century revitalization and 2nd chance at life. But alas, Gates and Gdubz wanted the Iraq and Afgan Wars and the big ole girl just didn't fit in with the "battle doctrine" (if the DoD's planning could even be called that) of the early 2000's

That wave off maneuver and roll is a dangerous move in the Tomcat. At 3:35 you can see the left engine afterburner surge a bit. It comes off and on again. That maneuver caused a couple f-14 crashes.
