I might be old but I like these "talkshows" more than any of those hyperactive Action Jackson videos.
This was once again a really nice listening.
Thanks John.
It's actually becoming more of a thing for people who use RUclips, fortunately. People are watching more discussions, debates, videos longer than 5 mins, people expressing their thoughts on things.
Rather than this popcorn garbage that trends on RUclips.
I for one love the fact that you focus your channel on being authentic, laid-back, and unassuming. Hyperactive, in-your-face videos may work better for clickbait, but they're a dime a dozen. Keep the quality content coming, John!
I think to have a teacher who collect videogames is very cool. 😀
mia san mia
👍yes
honestly the quality of videos coming out of your channel is great and I think you to deserve over
100k
The loveliest man on RUclips 😊👍. I hope you get your museum someday.
Found you thru metal jesus. Dont worry about the camera i enjoy listening to you ...dont sweat the editing
Agreed, the cam's fine. I also came to your channel via MJR whom I also discovered only a few weeks ago. All of you (as in Metal Jesus and any one of his guests) deliver great content and great entertainment. Keep it up!
You have a very contagious smile.
I love this channel. It's the RUclips equivalent of comfort food. Keep doing what you're doing, John, because you put a lot of smiles on a lot of faces.
The best conversation... is always with the "Immortal John Hancock". This is my favourite RUclips subscription. I will keep watching because of your passion that clearly shows concerning preserving retro gaming. I personally thank you.
Love your videos John. If I can just give you my 2 cents. Don't worry about what other youtubers do, or what content already exists. If I want to see a retrospective on Frostbite, I'd watch your video first. Same goes for any gaming subject. Just because there's a bunch of kids out there who might have already done everything you can think of, it doesn't matter. Another thing. Why not do a quick 5 minute review of a random game? And tell us it's history, and your stories around it whilst playing it. Quick snappy videos. A couple a week.
Keep up the good work. All the best to you and your family.
matt payne I love this quick video idea!!!
Do not compare yourself too what others do on their own channels. You do a good job, and the underlying excitement that you have about collecting is awesome.
Like others I like this format, so easy to listen too.
John, Thanks for all your videos. I always look forward to them! Your content is always fun and genuine. Just wanted to say thanks!
What he/she said.
i just have to say john your videos keep me positive about are hobby. And your fan base are the nicest i have ever seen. You are truly needed on youtube. Thank you for your time.
My wife calls you "The Immortal Bob Vila". We enjoy your videos. You seem very genuine and remind us of a time when things where simpler. It's a great channel and we hope you continue on for many years to come.
Thank you for such an honest and refreshingly from the heart video John. I can't wait for the museum
I wish more people in this world were like you. your really genuine. keep on posting.
You have become one of my favorite people to listen to! In the morning when i'm eating my breakfast and having cup of coffee before work I always come on here and watch/listen to a few videos. It puts me in a good mood for the better part of my day. Thanks for the quality content John, keep it up man! I agree with you on so many things - besides that OUYA!
It is clear that you want to share every ounce of video game knowledge that you have - and the topic of a museum is one that you bring up often. To that end, you live in a video game museum that I doubt you would want many strangers to come and visit.
If you were to take 360 degree photos of your game room using something like a Ricoh Theta S (spherical camera) you could share those images with the world and allow people to virtually see your game room using Google Cardboard and their cell phone. I have this camera, and if you are interested maybe I can loan it to you.
I don't know if I would be interested in going to a real physical museum, but I would be very interested in viewing your cluttered walls and then using that info to ask questions in the future. DM me if you are interested, I live in the future :)
Matt Manhattan in the future, I plan on doing a major overhaul and will cover more of my game room
... in vr? Think about it.
I can't think of another channel I watch that's so light on editting, rich in content, and this entertaining. We don't need some showy graphic or effect in our faces every 15 seconds.
Your style works great and is appreciated.
You're the most genuine dude on RUclips and I adore that. Great job man
that's exactly right, that's why I love this channel,I feel your just taking to me! your not phoney like the others. I like the older camera, and from your man cave. not some fancy expensive monitors and set ups! stay you bro and keep it up
I definitely advise coming to Australia, it's a great place to live and visit.. but don't expect to come here and find mountains of games just lying around haha. I live in a pretty small city and there are SEVEN retro game stores in my area as well as a dozen or so regular resellers on Gumtree/Facebook.
Retro Collecting / Gaming is definitely NOT crashing here. You can find the games you want fairly easily, but expect to pay eBay prices (or more) for them at stores because they all compete heavily against each other to get them. I regularly check out markets, swap meets, garage sales, thrift shops but often come out empty handed.
youre awesome john we love the videos thank you for being a kind person and sharing your collection and knowledge
Thanks for always posting entertaining/informative down to earth videos! Cheers from Canada.
Love the fact that ur such a passionate and genuine guy! A pleasure to watch every time
Hi John, I found your channel while searching for Genesis games recommendation, and I'm following since.
I really like the way you make videos like a conversation, and not like a scripted tv program.
Thank YOU for the amazing content and personality. You've been a great inspiration to me as a collector and starting my own channel. Cheers from Spain!
I'm now playing Wii for the first time and having a lot of FUN. There are lots of cheap games to look for. Switch can wait. Sometimes to be patient is better for your pocket ;)
John, I love your show! As a early 90s kid, I really enjoy learning more about the systems from before my time. I get excited for each new video, as there's something new I can learn from you. Also, keep smiling! :)
I love that your main goal is the preservation of gaming historia. I love that its never been about the money or about the fame or whatever, its simply your genuine love for the culture and history and thats what draws us all to you.
I enjoyed this video John. I originally came here for the games probably like everyone else but have come to learn you're a deep and genuine old soul. Even if you got out of games (lol yeah right) and wanted to talk about random things like your favorite flavors of tea, I'm a subscriber for life. I just like listening to you talk! Keep up the great work!
Johns top 10 tea flavors.
This should be the next video.
Mostly a green tea fan, but Coffee drinker in the AM.
Thank you, John! Greetings from Russian fans, big spasibo!
Love the comments from around the world. I would love to visit Russia someday.
Love what you're doing man. You inspired me to relive my gaming past and I just recently bought and added a complete Atari 2600 from Ebay to my collection. I can relate to you as I am a dad, employed full time, still love to game and do YT streaming part time when I can. But keep it up man!
Thanks, John, for all the great videos. They're always genuine and informative. Keep it up, please!
Nice, good luck with your museum project John!
Your channel is unique and awesome. Your personality reflects on your game collecting in a positive and educated way. Its brilliant bro.
When you see a RUclipsr who makes a video about something you want to do a video on as well, remember that not everyone is gonna see the other person's video and may also be interested in watching multiple videos about the same subject anyways to see what certain RUclipsrs think of it. I say make those videos anyways, who cares what others are doing or how well they're doing it. Your channel is yours. It just makes me sad you hold back on stuff like that, I'd like to watch your version :/
You're rich man. Just look at your family. You got all you'll ever need there (So send me your collection.)
I JK of course but man, you got it all going right now it seems. It's nice to see and inspirational. I feel I got lucky with my collection (Over 900 not above 1000 games yet, conservative comparatively) and with being able to have all this with a fiance who's also interested in what we have created.
I will watch multiple youtubers talk about the same subject because they all put there own unique spin on the subject. You can do the same, John. I would definitely watch your video on a subject even if others have talked about it, because I would really enjoy your style of video on the subject. Your honest view on the subjects is what makes you unique, and I really love that. Thanks John for making my evenings after my stressful job more enjoyable.
Excited you have plans to keep your channel going... You're a good man, John Hancock.
John I always look forward to your videos.
and I feel like I always learn something.
I think you give game collecting a good rap.
you keep making them all keep watching them. thanks.
Thank you! You and Mr. Jesus have inspired me to hunt for games and it's very rewarding.
Authenticity is more impressive than pyrotechnics and fancy editing any day. If I win the lottery you'll have your museum my friend.
Keep slaying dragons!
Another Aussie retro games enthusiast here who enjoys your videos, man. The Sega Master System was quite popular down here in the 80s and early 90s
Thanks for the great Video. Sadly there are not too many collectors out there who share their passion in the personal and down-to-earth style like you! Keep the good work going! Greetings from Germany :)
I think most collectors get to a point where they have more games than time to play them. I'm facing that, and my collection in tiny by comparison. Australia seems nice, but I fear giant spiders. I also emphasise on the camera issues. Cameras are expensive, especially when you want to get games. And again, I feel your pain on space, I may need to be creative on storage. Wouldn't worry about how other videos display, we love you for your personal insight and colourful character.
great video again. Never a waste of time watching your videos! keep it up. BIG fan from the UK
Thank you. I wish the US had some of the rad SMS games your folks got!
Keep on going John, we love your passion and your collections. But I really think most importantly we do love the way your are as a person, the little we know when seeing you on camera though. But thats what makes your channel, at least for me. :)
I love his genuine passion for collecting games. It's really inspiring.
John I too work in the social work field. I worked for child protective services for a very short period of time and now I work for health and family services dealing with Medicaid. Awesome to see a fellow social worker loving games!
I'm glad I got to finally hear you answer some of the questions people have asked you. Great video as always!
John, you are an inspiration to all of us. I would like to thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I am just starting out collecting and believe me... it is tough. I am in the Boston area and their is not many retro stores so I am subjected to the beating of craigslist and facebook yardsale sites. The main issue being with people basing their prices off ebay. My goal is to purchase all the consoles I want first and then work on the games. Only reason I am doing it that way is because I have very limited space so when I go to set up my game area I have all the dimensions I need. As far as games I will only buy what I plan on playing. I think eventually I might go for a complete collection, but for now I think that is good enough. Thanks again.
Yes. 16 bit for life!
I don't think you should worry what anyone else is doing. I started watching your channel because you're a likeable guy, if you don't do a video because you think some one else did a better job, what makes you think I would ever even find that channel?
So from the south east of England, keep up the great work. Atari is my favorite computer the 8 bit especially!!!
One last think, video quality is great, I have no intention of getting a 4K telly.
You are awesome John
Love your channel and your collection dude! So refreshing to see someone being themselves. Keep up the amazing work!
My favorite gaming era has to be the 32-bit era of Sega Saturn and Playstation back in the mid 90's to late 90's
I hope your retro museum dream comes true! Awesome video John.
I 100% feel you on limited space, which is why I've slowed down on collecting on some things.
I know I could use a plug. Love your channel man.
Thank you, for the kind words. I would love to have 1/10th of your editing skills :)
You made my day John thank you!
Passion and sincerity! keep it up john !
Just thought I'd say I find your videos very interesting and informative keep up the good work John! :)
Great video! I Watch your videos every time they pop up, keep up the good work😊
Thanks for making such great videos! Always a treat to get a new one.
you are awesome. love your videos. very informative without feeling drawn out. I'm also a game collector, however very small time. it's guys like you, metal Jesus, radical Reggie, etc that make me wish I didn't live on the opposite side of the country. keep up the good work.
Hello John love your videos love your content and love your collection can't wait to visit your museum one day and just showing some support keep it up man
I've been watching you for years, and I just noticed I'm not a sub! Jeeze. And I fully agree, the 90's era was the renaissance of gaming.
John, Great video by a great guy. Down to earth dude doin what he loves! No hate! Much love for the immortal!
Why couldn't I have had an awesome teacher like you when I was in school? It would have made it so much better! Awesome collection by the way!
I'm almost your age and I like your style. We need videos like this.
Just discovered your channel, you have an amazing collection. Please do reviews of Neo Geo games!
Yes, I need to do this :)
Love the videos John! I wouldn't stress much about the camera, personally I like to listen to your videos while making dinner or during some down time. Also, Regardless of whether another RUclipsr has covered a particular video or topic, Id like to hear your take or viewpoint,
There's a million "Top Ten games" or "Hidden gem" videos but I still make sure to catch MJRs videos on that topic because I enjoy his content.
Same for you. Keep it up! Love the videos.
I liked. My name is George. I'm from Brazil and... What can I say: keep going. You channel is really good. By the way, your channel help me a lot to improve my English - you know. So I just wanna say Thanks.
I hear Brazil is a beautiful country. Thank you for your kind words.
Just want to say I enjoy following your videos! Best of luck with everything.
You are Awesome bro! Love your channel and watch all of your videos! Thank you John
You're the greatest! Love your stories! :)
Cheers!
Another great video John, I've never seen you without your hat on before lol.
You've got me back into gaming. Please continue to share your passion
my game room change from a museum to a mausoleum where I remembered my childhood and everything I had and I hardly ever visited and I felt more like visiting a grave then anything and I sold it all and paid for quite a few vacations with my three year old I don't regret it but I do miss it
Great work John! Keep on rolling!
Keep rockin it John. First saw u on Metal Jesus but I love your channel as well. Thanks for making these vids and yes it does kinda feel like a conversation when I watch which is really cool in my opinion.
You are not a hoarder you are legend.
I am right there with ya, early 90's were the best!
Love the style of videos. Genuine is hard to find generous nevertheless online these days.
Here's a question I've had since I started watching your and metal jesus' channel, if enough people ask maybe it could be in the next FAQ video; is your video game collection insured?
Mashugina yes
+John Hancock idk why but that makes me feel better somehow, when most of the top video game channels seem to be bawling obscenities into the microphone, acting zany, or talking about tmz style RUclips drama while someone plays a fps in the background, I really appreciate how real, down to earth, and honest your videos are)( and I say go for the click bait topics, if you keep it as real and honest as your other videos, I'd actually really like to hear your opinions on these topics, I sure trust your opinion over the juggernaut channels, that are highly sponsored with full blown commercials in the videos
Thank you for saying this. Exactly what I am going for. I hate the shouting obscene channels. Just not my thing nor great for anything.
Thanks for the book tip. Enjoying your vids, keep up doing what you´re doing!
Hey John! Have you considered crowd funding a new camera? I would love the opportunity to donate a few bucks to help you get some new equipment and I'm sure a lot of others would too.
I love your videos and look forward to them every week. Keep up the good work!
Really love these videos! Keep them coming mate and I'll happily spend the time to watch them all. Love the passion and attitude that you bring to your videos and love that you do them in such a personal and conversationalist way. It's something that I've come to expect and really enjoy from your content.
I don't know if anyone has ever asked you this but I will, and that's what is your favourite sega mega-drive game? Would really love to know =)
Thanks and keep up the good work!
A fan and subscriber from Australia.
Your channel is, by far, one of the best gaming channels on RUclips.
Great video John keep up the good work.
