What a season Ake is having
AKE was patient to accept to play very few matches last season! He also had a good world cup! The ONLY problem is that he is not enough told for a central defender! However he is by far much trustable than LAPORT (is slow and commit a lot of mistakes) and DIAS (is slow). STONES (it is sad to see him more out than available, due to injuries). AKE and the young LOUIS, are the ONLY to trust at the back!

He likes to mess about too much when the ball is played back to him, then waits until he is closed down and makes a poor pass, putting the receiver under pressure. However second half interventions and a couple of decent saves first half show his abilities. But Ederson is is better … atm

this is the real issue...I think most of big teams already learned how to marked Haaland, I think it became easier and apparent when City vs United last time and vs Arsenal in this match. Liverpool also beat us in the ealier this season. I'm a bit worried, if our opponent secured Haaland and de Bruyne, City's system practically dead, and it shows lately

@@Vsgaisgsf3720 that's my point, big teams tend to have good defense line up, we beaten by United and Liverpool, and our defense tends to shaking when faces quick counter attack team, like Southampton for example. Of course Haaland is exceptional, he's amazing, but what I really pointed out is many of city's players currently underperform, that's the thing with won the epl 4 times in the last 5 years. City lacks hunger, and other teams take the advantage of that

I think it's pretty obvious that Haaland is not in the same kind of form he was before the world cup break. He looks heavier now, less sparkling and his movements are not as well timed as they were before the break. Of course he still scores some goals, but we haven't really seen the magic we saw in the first part of the season. He'll be back though!

What City did wrong in this match was how they used Haaland. Instead of making a pass to Haaland behind the defenders so he could run past them, they sent a high ball towards him when he had the back against the goal with a defender on his back. It is so much more easy to be a defender in that situation and to get the ball out when you are pushing the attacking player at the same time. Especially in the first half they missed this opportunity several times when Holding played. Had Haaland gotten the ball in front of him he would have ran past Holding easily. A few times they played the ball past defenders, but usually then the ball was too hard so the goal keeper reached the ball first.
They have to be more precise and smarter with that play.
That needs to be addressed when they meet Arsenal in the league.
Can someone confirm if Haaland is all good after taking an elbow to the back of his head? Such injuries can take time to develop...

Pep needs to start Alvarez. He's too good to be a impact sub. Guy brings flair and energy and he can shoot from distance as well quite accurately. And Haaland would be better served with Alvarez behind him or along side him with the movement and pressing he brings to the table.
what you just said is why I would bring him on as a sub. That flair which he brings while defenders are tired and not focused is when u see the Julian affect. Starting him against a low block side would not be a good decision as I feel he won’t be able to get behind or be involved asm
That was the ugliest and most chaotic game of football i have seen from Man city last 5-6 years! No idea at all!Ortega best player and the one with the most touches on the ball!He kick it ahead Arsenal mostly wins the first ball and if we win it we start passing it slowly backwards to Ortega and start again! WE won this game ,but we where not the better team and that worries me deeply!

Haaland wil get the praise for his goals but ake has been the player of the season for me so far 8/10 at least every game .
I think...all of our defenders is good enough to support the transition to attacking phase, but they do lacking the defensive ability. I'd not rate Ake is great as defender when defending, Lewis too, Akanji too especially, Gomez is also so so. We really need prime Dias, Walker, Laporte/Stones, and Cancelo, this is I say our biggest defensive line up, strong in defense but has good vision to support attacking phase. I'd say our defense now is so fragile. But kudos to Ake today, he's our hero in this match, we should absolutely praised him for this

This game show how important Partey to Arsenal, the goal comes from the attack from middle (Alvarez long shoot). Lokonga position is all wrong.
I never like to criticise the City fans, but come on, 7000 gooners being heard throughout the game when there are 44000 City fans there, I simply cannot believe that we would allow that to happen, this is something we need to improve on, we cannot let the opposition come to our stadium and out sing us, and whoever it is that instigates the City fans to sing should be sacked. We follow one of the best teams in the world, yet our fans ability to quieten down the travelling supporters is woeful, please, let's get this sorted out, it is embarrassing to those of us that cannot make the game to hear us being so quiet, saying that, I am happy for the win and pleased that Pep didn't put out the B Team, although our B team is pretty awesome. Looking forward to our 2 PL games against Arsenal, we have to win these to close that gap because if not the title will go to Arsenal, they are playing some very nice football this season.BMR.

If this was a league match then yes, but it felt like a friendly match to get a feel for each other and because Arsenal matched City with a rotated team, to the surprise of many, it’s actually helped give us more confidence going into the league now more than anything else.

I think they should start to play together, de Bruyne lately often looks so deadlocked and City needs faster player in transition phase, Grealish is great with dribble and hold the ball but he's kinda slow, Mahrez is slow too, we need more like Alvarez and Foden to accompany Haaland who is the fastest in the front line, look at CIty transition, it's bad, they're super slow while Haaland already waiting at the front...and btw Ake's goal can be an assist to Haaland honestly if you pay attention to the goa process, Ake's kick is more like a slow curve pass and it goes straight to the nett, Halaand was so close to receive Ake's pass (which became a goal score)
And Pep already said many times, "play more direct...play more direct, pass to ball to Haaland, find him, move faster" Pep still hardly managed to convince the players to do so. escpecially nowadays where City like to play short passess from the winger side, it's super slow, many times Haaland already blocked by so many opponents while Mahrez or Grealish (and de Bruyne lately) just doing moves around short pass here, short pass there, they did short passes everywhere while Haaland just be ready to receive the ball but it's too late
Because of Halaand others have the chance to shot. His presence with or without ball is vital.
