  • Join us as we embark on a three-day road trip adventure in one of the most stunning locations in the UK - Isle of Skye and the Scottish Highlands! We're convinced you'll want to add this magnificent place to your travel list too. Our adventure begins with a delightful pit stop at Manuela's Wee Bakery during our 5-hour drive from Glasgow to the Isle of Skye, Scotland. On our first full day in Isle of Skye, we found dinosaur footprints on An Corran Beach and marveled at the enchanting Fairy Pools. We faced a bit of a challenge finding lunch in Portree, but we lucked out with some amazing fish and chips from The Hungry Gull in Staffin, near our lodging. The next day saw us further exploring the picturesque capital town of Portree, complete with a 2-hour sightseeing boat tour, the Sound of Raasay Wildlife Cruise with Stardust Boat Trips. On our final day, we gave a tour of our glamping pod at the fantastic Flodigarry Pods, a unique glamping experience in the more remote, northern part of Skye. The tranquility and luxury of our stay was invigorating and we would definitely recommend them as a great option for accommodations on Isle of Skye. After leaving Skye, we made our way over to another part of the Highlands we highly anticipated visiting: Loch Ness and Nessieland. We kept travelling through Inverness, ultimately ending our travels at Doune Castle, the iconic filming location from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a visit we were particularly excited about.

I am English and saw quite a few places in Scotland when I went on a cruise of the British Isles. One of the favourite places I went to apart from Edinburgh was the beautiful town of Tobermory. The town had colourful painted houses like you have shown here in this video. Another very nice town is Oban which is a fishing town, there are some amazing shops there should you want to buy tartan goods. Scotland is amazing for the beautiful scenery. In the 1960's I was a trawlerman on trawlers from Fleetwood in Lancashire England and we passed by Tobermory on the way out to Iceland and on the return journey to England. Great memories of my time at sea. I can recommend visiting Dunoon also and you can get a ferry from Glasgow to there. Thanks for your review of Skye.

i motorhomed around Scotland for 10 days, just planning to spend 1 day in Skye , ended up loving it so much i stayed 2.
Could just park up anywhere, make dinner, go to sleep, wake up to see the boats coming into Talamh Ur.
Apparently part of my family comes from Skye and is part of the Macleod clan , my grandad always said if you go to Dunvegan on skye , say your name you can get in for free.
I have to admit i was 2 embarrassed to try it so spent the tenner instead , took a rowboat and met all the seals.

That scenery is why so many people will tell you to really experience Scotland, get away north and away from the cities. Scotland has so much to offer. The Cuillins are the main mountain range on Skye and the weather forecast for the island famously has two lines. If you can see the Cuillins it’s going to rain, if you can’t see the Cuillins, it’s raining!

I was in Skye in May and had beautiful weather. The drive through Glencoe was magical and awe inspiring it takes your breath away. The views from the Old man of Stor are amazing. I stayed in Portree and that was booking a year in advance. Queued for an hour at the harbour chippy for fish and chips but was worth it 😋 on our last day we did the fairy pools...omg that nearly killed me lol. Im in my 60's and the trek was something else, also it was a monsoon that day but ong seeing those waterfalls in spate rushing down the mountain was glorious. Skye has always been on my bucket list and it was something ill never forget ❤

The nice weather ended this weekend, it's still not bad compared to the previous 18 months, but it's Skye, if you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes and you'll get something different, I'm writing this in portree where I work, it's warm and dry,=midgy, but at home 13 miles away it's raining heavily, always something different, so for anyone visiting, don't go by what the weather apps say 👍👍👍

2:55 Most of the footprints are in the really lurid green stretch of seaweed - which is scarily slick.
Walk carefully, and take little steps...
7:44 The cruise ships are too large for the harbor so the visitors come ashore in the lifeboats. That way they all know where the lifeboats are, they know they work and they can visit smaller, more attractive, ports.
8:14 The pronunciation is spot on - although both 'a's used to be sounded in the old days.

How lovely to see you both on the beautiful Isle of Skye ❤ . I usually take the train from Glasgow to Mallaig for the ferry , on the West highland line , one of the great railway journeys of the world , ask any train enthusiast . I take my tent and I think it's not what I do on Skye but what I don't , I leave the rat race of the city and the rush , and re-connect with nature and enjoy the peace and tempo and scenery and detox my head and soul and take in the surroundings and wldlife . I visit the distilleries and try find special editions of whisky , whisky is a very wise and good investment for the future . I work as a roadie with bands and artists , so I visit for the Skye music festival which is great , real musicians and real people and atmosphere , unlike some.of the huge commercial ones I work sometimes . The band Runrig were formed on Skye , the great original line up , ..not the awful latter version of the band .There are a few songs written about the island . You are both so mannerly , I noticed you never repeated the line " I fart in your general direction " at the castle " 😄 . Best regards and I hope to see you both back in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 .

Nice video of Skye. I've been there twice. Last time was last year with my brother. That time we walked further up the hill to go past the pinnacle of the old man of Storr something we should have did the first time. It allowed us to get the classic view and photos of the Storr which was truly spectacular. We stayed in a nice self catering chalet called the Hide in Drumfearn on Skye. The lady had installed multiple double d sockets in all the rooms with USB sockets too. On arrival she'd left tea bags coffee and hot chocolate sachets. And even packs of chocolate biscuits. I can recommend if you go back going down to Elgol bottom of the island and taking the little boat trip to Loch Coruisk. Boats are off if the weather too bad. We saw seals that day. In Portree there's a nice little place called Cafe Arriba they do nice cake and coffee. I've been told their hot chocolate and food is also good.

It seems you missed the most beautiful Fairy Pools. I'm not sure if it's Portreath where the 'Local Hero' movie was made with Burt Lancaster. Shame you never went around The Old Man of Storr as that has been in many fantasy movies. The UK has thousands of roadside attractions, so whoever told you we don't is wrong. 😊

So glad you like sheep. You are aware that in medieval times our economy was based on it. We have a good few varieties. The Speaker in the House of Lords, sits on a woolsack as a reminder of our past (wool bale). England had many long wool sheep, for weaving, unfortunately many breeds no longer exists. Long wool sheep are so pretty, Google Leicestershire or Lincolnshire long wool to see them, now rare breeds.
