The main reason is that the UK has not been invaded for a 1000 years so all our old stuff is still intact and not been destroyed by invading forces. Any major destruction has been done by ourselves... i.e HenryVIII and destruction of Abbeys n' stuff. :)

This is so surreal to watch. I live near Winstone's Ice Cream, so I am so glad you listened to the people next to you!! You didn't miss out on anything with the dessert 2in1 pie. If you come back to the Cotswolds, go to Stroud Farmer's market on a Saturday morning. Enjoy your journeys. If you are in a beach mood, try to go to Cornwall, Padstow, Rock...etc. or to Wales and the Gower Peninsula. Snowdonia is also very beautiful in Wales and worth the visit.

Thank you for this great informative video of The beautiful Cotswolds, i enjoyed it!. Some people say the villages are a tourist attraction and can get busy, well most of the lovely towns, villages and cities in England are tourist attractions now a days, inc the Lake District, the coast of Cornwall, Clovelly in Devon and a lot of coastal areas in Devon, Cheddar Gorge, some Dorset villages and the Jurassic coast, The Norfolk Broads, Bath, Liverpool, London etc and the Cotswold villages are no exception. I would move to the Cotswolds in a heartbeat! and be proud to live there, they are such beautifully maintained villages. Glad you both enjoyed your stay there.

Nice video! I am glad I live in the southern region of the Cotswolds, and now you know why you should move to England! You will never have enough time to see all the beauty in a lifetime, but we can still try, and it's safer and cheaper than America. Did you know that an American 'tried' to buy up the entire Arlington Row and ship it all back to America, but he failed, and was only allowed to buy just one cottage which was dismantled brick by brick, and then rebuilt in the US!

    • @AlexanderTheEvenGreater

I really enjoy visiting the Cotswolds and am glad you enjoyed it too. Bourton on the water is where I have been the most as I usually went by coach from where I live now in the West Midlands in Telford Shropshire. A lot of history here also in the surrounding areas including the nearby Roman City of Wroxeter between Telford and Shrewsbury just off the A5. Definitely worth a visit if in this area. Also near Telford is Ironbridge which also is very historic because of the industrial revolution. Ironbridge is a world heritage site popular with many Americans during the summer months because of the museums nearby. Much Wenlock is also a great town to visit not far from Telford and the pubs there provide excellent food and all are dog friendly.

You could've gone to the Diddly Squat farm shop when you were in Chipping Norton, it's Jeremey Clarksons farm shop.

Thanks for the video. I guess I'll be able to verify as I'm going to be walking the Cotswold Way from Chipping Campden to Bath, 101 miles in total, starting on October 2nd. I decided on this (hopefully!) less strenuous route after a coastal walk in Northern Ireland last May which nearly did me in.

Oh neat! I am always so curious about walking long distances on the footpaths we've come across, but I don't think either of us are adventurous enough to try something like 100 miles.

@@TheMagicGeekdom It is probably far easier than you think. I often hire the services of Mickledore to arrange my walks in England and Scotland. They arrange the lodging and luggage transport between stops and can provide other accommodations as requested. I'll be 76 years old (and certainly no athlete) when I start this walk and don't anticipate any serious problems -- the longest day's walk is fifteen miles and the Cotswold Way is pretty gentle as long-distance walks go. The day I can't manage fifteen miles over relatively easy paths I guess I'll need to find a different holiday option or quit entirely (but not before I do another long stretch in Scotland again and get off to Cornwall and back to Wales to finish the other half of the Anglesey Coast path.) Happy travels.

There are also the hidden cotswolds places with views and scenery that the tourist guides do not show, added to a great deal of history ,but you need a local to guide you around them,we ,eep lots of them secret to avoid them becoming tourist traps

Wow you were about 2 miles from where we live as you went down the main road after the cows in the road scene, you then went under the old bridge in badminton :)
