my coach has been trying to get me to do this so much, i never thought watching 5 minutes of Josh Donaldson would get me doing what he has tried to teach me for the last 3 months
Born in 1990 i didnt learn how to really hit until i was a senior playing summer ball. Everyone told me i always got under the ball and they always wanted me to go straight down i had a swing hitters use today that was looked down upon back in the early 2000s. It was always load the hips then hands and swing down . Which is terrible way to swing if you dont have speed. My last year i started a mini leg kick just like josh and would rock my hips in a rythm before the pitch and moved my hand back as the pitch came. That summer i felt like a could hit any pitch and hit it hard. Went to juco but had looks from Toledo, Xavier, Dayton.
I love josh donaldson. I don't have anybody in my family that plays baseball so im kind of on my own to practice. Im learning everything i can about the swing. When you have a leg kick you want to stay in the back of your leg while you reach with your front foot... Relaxed upper body when hitting Dont use your hands to hit, let them do their own thing and get into a good position Back elbow goes when the back knee goes Bunting Technique You want your front foot closed so you don't leak power Your hips don't go until your front foot is down Put your weight into the ball... Etc I have a question though. Does hip to shoulder separation help in the swing? If so, should the upperbody be working backwards (towards the catcher) while the hips turn.
Always knew little Josh was a good player (I mean from as young as Little League.) But, what happened to that Cumberland kid from Pace? I thought FER SURE he'd be playing with the big boys! Do you know, Josh? I don't remember Cumberland's first name, just that there were a bunch of them and all the boys were good in high school.
His name is Drew and he didnt make it. He is a travel coach and owns Panhandle athletics and runs the Clubhouse in Pace. So many great ballplayers come from Pace but Josh to me was the best but a lot of people think Addison Russell is.
Drew didn’t make it, but not because of lack of talent. He was well on his way to making the bigs but an inner ear condition caused him to become dizzy and have terrible migraines that would blur his vision they were so bad. The doctors told him he would have serious health issues later in life if he continued playing.
I played against Drew, mostly remember his dad being crazy intense (back in travel ball). Caleb Gindl was a beast too. That 2006 Pace HS team was stacked.
He moves his hands too much and strikes out a lot. He has some very good ideas but I believe his hands move too much and he misses pitches he would've otherwise if his hands were more steady. His power though is very good for his small size. He's not a big man. His defense impressed me. Good luck to him. He had been successful and makes more money in a year than I will in a 100 years.
Interview looks like a scene from the bachelor.
He's going to be a hitting coach someday.
Kyle Johansen I definitely see that happening.
Defiantly..He's knows the game so well, he could be a manager.
Kyle Johansen
He's going to make someone a superstar
Kyle Johansen He sounds like the Captin.I wonder if he is.
@@JackCallSports , he has a Nephew in Pace Fl named Tanner that is a superstar.
I love to hear him talk about hitting. You can tell he has put so much time into really dissecting his swing.

Song is called, “Truly Phenomeno”
This reminds me of the way the new golfers are generating power with a driver. Trackman technology has helped with feedback.
Exactly my thought
This is exactly how i teach it. Josh just gets it. Im just blessed to work with a pro Eric Munson that passes it down to me.
This guy knows hitting

All of this was talked about by Ted Williams. Neat. "Hit with your hips" "Lag the bat through the zone in a slight upward arc" etc
I absolutely love his attitude.
This guy has bigger calves than my quads.
xXEKIMXx seriously
I like him because he competitive
Donaldson you are my hero and you are so right and I try to model my swing after yours
My fav player right now
Hi. My name is Ether. I am addicted to swinging down on the ball. I have been sober for 3 at-bats.

Derrick Arnold was to me one of the best also. He played for the Braves.

Auburn needs more men like him. Less Columbia shorts,
Costas, and Sperrys.
Roll Tide
incredible guy. not a fan of the ear ring

Gary Sheffield moved his hands more than anybody. His stats aren’t too bad. Donaldson’s rhythm and timing is almost identical to Miggy.
Yea now he's completely lost at the plate with the YANKEES🙄
First
George Carr nice last name
I love this man but hate his style
dude looks like he’s going through a midlife crisis.
