its amazing that one man is playing all these sonatas from memory and yet exponentially more impressive is that ALL this music came from one man...Beethoven Forever!!!
Truly one of the gems in the 32 sonatas. That's not surprising of course; every one of his sonatas are incredibly valuable. But Ive lost count of the number of times that the menuetto randomly popped into my head over the years. Beethoven is probably the master of the minuet/scherzo and this one is my favorite.
The second movement has the descending Arpeggio that you can hear in Mahler 5th symphony adagietto. The last chords are direct inspirations for Schubert with the dissonance you find in so many of his pieces. Such a perfect sonata
I'm quite a fan of the Baroque - but like the Romantic period too. I've just been getting deeply into Schubert's dissonance. Can you recommend a couple of your favorite dissonant Schubert pieces? It will help cut to the chase. P.S. I'm very surprised that Beethoven was a fan of Schubert but I'm glad he was and hope Schubert learned of it before his own, very early death.
It’s overshadowed by the Pathetique and other sonatas. Unfortunately, this is how the dynamic is for most classical music (obviously). Not every piece gets the recognition it deserves
Got tired of playing a Mozart Piano Sonata so I broke out my Beethoven Volume I and this no. 7 is difficult for me to play but it is beautiful! One of hardest ones to master of his piano sonatas in my opinion
With all respect for Barenboim, he plays the second movement at negative speed. My personal favorite interpretation of the second movement is by Friedrich Gulda.
I don’t mind the ads between each movements , but I hate it in the middle of the playing, it’s totally ruined the whole piece ! So shame that they force you to pay for it to get rid of the ads! I give up....
Yea but I suppose before yt it was a nightmare trying to find decent recordings and the wealth of relatively unknown pieces is staggering. We're lucky to be born in a time to listen to it all for free regardless of ads

Cesar Cardozo I agree!
Ver las distintas expresiones de su rostro y cómo y con qué "ternurs" sus dedos acarician las teclas producen emoción
Великий музыкант!спасибо за возможность слушать это замечательное исполнение Бетховена!

The second movement is one of the best things on planet earth
The emergence of the titanic Beethoven indeed!
Couldn’t agree more. Not exactly going to leave you with a spring in your step but incredibly powerful and moving.
"On planet earth" you mean alien have their music too? :V
@@ImaginysLight i mean probably
I'm agree. It's perfect!
10:38-11:01 heavenly part of the second movement
Then an outpouring of anger and grief at 15:26 to 17:09 utter bliss and the sigh at the end
That second movement is something else
Eddie Hutchence ikr I love it

Very nice! I can't understand why there aren't more videos of this piece. It's beautiful.
Becuase Daniel did it best as human can do :)
Tiff T ... There is one of Richter available...also excellent,as one would expect!😊

this is the greatest of all the Beethoven sonatas.
Such a cool sonata by Beethoven, very alien like and atmospheric, not from this world

I love this sonata😍
Amazing! I used to play that one too. You absolutely smashed it!
"Mastered," "smashed." What limited metaphors to think of interpretation?

I agree! It is to slow of my liking. But it is only my opinion!
Hardly much slower and just as good
The second movement was so slow I was almost glad of the publicity break (just joking!!). Any opinions about Richter's version in Moscow?
Exelente pianista.😁👌🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎼🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎶👑🇦🇷

that slow movement - just like that quartet number 1 slow movement, isn't it?

You are actually very good
Barenboim comienza con B de Beethoven. Casualidad o predestiinación??
Barenboims Lyrik in den langsamen Stellen ist wundervoii
9:31 - 9:41 sounds a bit like Mozart KV 540 Adagio in B minor

Роялей не было, а клавесин. Фу и точка на мой слух.
Чего-чего? Я, обожаю это произведение пищи - охота. Мой ребёнок это услышал и мелодия на телефон и даже ненавистный мужик рядом.
