    Thx Mike. Just ordered one. Ohrex has reduced price to £75.05 and your discount code MIKE10 still works. So the total price is now only £67.55 with free shipping! Much appreciated. Peter

    We initially bought a Tom Tom costing £350 and trialed it on a 3 week trip around France, we were extremely dissapointed with its performance, so returned it . After a look online we came up with the Ohrex J901 it does have a few operating foibles but once you have grasped them its a good system, we followed the purchase up with a two month trip into Europe with only the odd issue having driven 3000 miles. its good vale for money and I recommend Ohrex

    Great videos and very helpful. I can see the description states motorhome satnav, I was wondering if you know whether the satnav is also suitable for when towing a caravan?

    Did i see a trailer setting, was wondering does it let you select a car and trailer and put in there size. Could be very handy for caravans

    • @ExploreVanUK
      @ExploreVanUK  10 месяцев назад +1

      It definitely allows you to enter the amount of axles so for Caravan it would be 3 or 4 and you’d just put the width and height of the caravan.
      I’ll check shortly if there is a specific trailer setting.

    • @ExploreVanUK
      @ExploreVanUK  10 месяцев назад +2

      @xglouldiex just checked and there is a tick box for “trailer” in the vehicle settings. Not sure what it does, possibly just avoids any restrictions on combination units. I would still enter the dimensions of the tallest and widest points of the Car/Caravan and the overall weight.

    Great review. We have been looking for a decent sat nav for our MH for a while and baulk at paying 350 for a Tom Tom. So we currently use Cygic and so far its pretty good. Have you reviewed this App?

      @ExploreVanUK  10 месяцев назад

      Hi, thanks. We've not tried Sygic, but we have been trying out Tomtom Go, Copilot and Magic Earth Apps. Watch out for the video which should be out in the next few weeks.

    Amazing product review and this seems very decent price as well. Are you aware of any mobile app that would do the same at this price point? Buying extra device just for this seems silly but might be the only option 🤔

      Funny you should ask, we’re just finishing a video comparing the campervan versions of TomTom Go, CoPilot and Magic Earth phone Apps. Watch out for it going out in the next 2 weeks.

    Upsizing to a crafter shortly and in need of a sat nav which has changed speed limits for vehicle weight and adjust routes for size and height. But why do I have to go back to 2005 and get an old school sat nav? So few CarPlay or android versions on the market and those that are seem to be really expensive.

      @ExploreVanUK  10 месяцев назад

      Not sure what your point is?
      I wouldn’t say it is rebranded, Ohrex don’t hide the fact they are a Chinese company it’s all in their About us on their website.

      Please share details of what you have and the problems you have faced, always good to know and good to understand if they actually are the same. Without more information we can’t confirm what you are claiming.
      We’ve found it really helpful and you can see the comment from another viewer who’s found the bigger screen version better than a £350 TomTom.

      We got given a satnav with this same software when we bought our motorhome we had no end of problems, the satnav it self seemed ok.
      Its cost from eBay and Amazon was less than £40

      If you are in the UK the Consumer Rights Act 2022 means you have the rights to repair or replacement for 12 months, it’s possible the manufacturer may extend this protection so worth asking them.

    You'd think it would update over WiFi.

    • @ExploreVanUK
      @ExploreVanUK  10 месяцев назад

      I imagine not including WiFi module is to keep the cost down.
      Yes a £350 Garmin or TomTom might have that facility, but saving £270 I’d be happy to plug it in when a map update is available.

    I don't think this is legal in France though even if you switch off the speed camera facility. I know it is a fixed data base but does it identify and state speed camera or Police ? Would it meet this criteria ;_. By law, the French government has restricted the speed camera notification 🙁
    Only "dangerous zones" can be notified 3km in advance.' ......... ' The law says :
    During 4 km long, there is an alert on freeways to say there is a danger inside
    During 2 km long, there is an alert on off-town roads to say there is a danger inside
    During 300 m long, there is an alert on city-roads to say there is a danger inside
    A danger could be a speedlimit change, a speedtrap, a big turn... But, the words "speedtrap" and "police" are now forbidden in a navigation system; and the position can't be mentionned, it should be an interval, a distance where the "danger" inside (4km, 2km or 300m in function of the road type). What do you think having used it in the EU ?

    • @ExploreVanUK
      @ExploreVanUK  3 месяца назад

      To be honest I don't remember seeing any camera warnings at all when were in France (though we may have had them switched off).
      I've never heard of anyone having their devices checked or any prosecutions in this area in all the time it's been in place in France so I wouldn't overthink it.
      Stand-alone Radar and Laser Detectors are another matter and are dealt with harshly
