We have lived here for 13 years and love it. Our neighbors are family, everyone is friendly, would not want to live anywhere else.

I'm pretty sure it was at Steamorama that I introduced my grandkids to the joy and ecstasy of funnel cake. I told them it's called funnel cake because it's funnel to eatel. And I also miss Pumpkin Daze...a lot! As well as the park. My wife's parents are both buried in that cemetery off 174 (They're dead). Do I sound like I'm homesick?

Yes! You do. I (Faith) have not yet had a chance to go to Pumpkin Daze myself, and I would love to go. It always sounds like some of these small town traditions end up being so special. Why did you all end up moving away?

Re the man holding the hamburger in front of Flat Creek: that was the logo of the Bob's Big Boy restaurant chain that used to be quite extensive in California. There are only 4 left. That's where the double cheeseburger was invented. That same statue is also at a local place in (I think) Muncie, IN, where I've eaten with my family. I have many fond memories of Bob's Big Boy from when I lived in California. But of all the places I've lived, I regret moving from Republic the most. Btw, Changsha and Rocco's were among my customers before retiring in 2016.
Bob's Big Boy is a restaurant chain founded by Bob Wian in Southern California in 1936, originally named Bob's Pantry.[1][2] It is now part of Big Boy Restaurant Group, the current primary trademark owner and franchisor of the Big Boy system.[3] At its peak in 1989, there were over 240 Bob's locations throughout the United States, most belonging to Marriott. By 2022, only four Bob's Big Boy Restaurants remain in operation, all in Southern California.[4][5][note 1] Those four locations are in Burbank (Toluca Lake), Downey, Norco, and Northridge

@@wiserlivingrealty - we went last year, a good friend - Doc Comstock - is a very active Ozark Steam Engine Association member. Only attended one day last year - plan to attend all 3 days this year so we can watch the cane picking, thrashing and finally the stir!! Lots to do from a guy’s-guy swap meet (think lots of engine parts), to kids activities to the molasses making to an antique tractor pull!! Loads of fun!!
