    Nice walk through, glad I saw the bit about cutting the shifter to allow the Ktuned to fit. Props for the Automodelista music. Loved that game!

    To put those bushing in you can run a bolt thru with washers on both side. tighten nut on bolt in return sandwiching the bushing into the hole.

    Hey Michael, I am actually really impressed with your videos. I've watched a majority of them already, it's pretty cool how you know so much about cars at such a young age. I too am young, 17, and I've learned a lot from your videos. How did you gain all of this knowledge? Is your family really into cars, or is it just something you picked up? Also, I'm guessing you pay for all of your parts, do you do so by working or do your parents help you out? Glad to see someone with a young age sharing the same passion as me. :-)

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  10 лет назад +1

      I grew up as a child in a family that loved cars. My brother had a great passion with cars since I was a kid and I saw him and followed him everywhere when I was young. He then became a mechanic for Mercedes-Benz. He moved to Italy and I inherited all of his Mercedes-Benz qualified tools and he has taught me a lot throughout all the years.

      Michael Flare That's awesome man, and that's great for your brother! Italy is beautiful and so are Benz's. So what do you have under the hood so far? And how much power you pushing?

      ***** I got a huge kick start working on this project by getting paid for going to school. I've worked on the car like that for about 4 years during my college career. Later in recent years, I have an awesome job and I paid for the parts with my own money that I earned. My parent did not help me build this project at all; it was all my money. I don't spend or work on this car nearly as much as the first 4 years anymore because this project car has officially finished for about a year already. By the way, I NEVER tell anyone about my engine. I literally get asked this question almost every single day through RUclips and also in person. I do this because I want great security for my car from thieves. I don't want any word to spread about it's engine which would further encourage thieves.

    Hello Michael I just received my new shift linkage from majestic honda and I would like to cut the shifter to fit a k-tuned shifter in. What is the tool/grinder called that you use to cut the linkage? I would like to go pick one up from Harbor Freight thank you I appreciate it!

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  8 лет назад

      +Alonzo Cates You can get it at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's , etc. It's just a DREMEL tool. DREMEL is a popular name to call it because that's the original brand that made that tool but the real name of the tool is called a "rotary tool" I think. Good luck, man.

    • @puppetmasterblaster
      @puppetmasterblaster 5 лет назад

      The black and Decker version of the dremel is a ton cheaper and a ton better, and all the dremel attachments work with it.

    so without that, im getting the shifter, shifter bushings aaand stabilizer bar bushings? is that all i would need importantly?

    • @MichaelFlare

      To install this shifter, you don't need to buy anything else beside the shifter itself; buying new shifter bushings is optional but not required.

    Hey can you adjust the throw once it's installed and if so how do you adjust it. I'd hate to put it in and my hand is hitting the console for being too long.

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  9 лет назад

      +warnerg80 For these long racing shifters, I think it's best you put it on the shortest throw possible before hitting the exhaust underneath because the higher the shift knob, the longer the throw will be at the shift knob; it's physics. This might sound depressing but if I remember correctly about adjusting mine, I had to take the shifter out to adjust the pivot ball and then put it back in the car.

    • @warnerg80
      @warnerg80 9 лет назад

      Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. I'll be sure to have set the ball as high as possible but the bottom not tapping the exhaust. Thanks again.

    and also what tool did you use to remove the shift linkage pin? thank you

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  8 лет назад

      +Alonzo Cates There's a very good method I saw on the internet where you a screw or a punch on one side and you use a socket on the other side bigger than the pin. Then you compress the screw towards the socket by a C clamp tool. That is the best method. The cheap and bad method is hammering the pin out with a punch or a screw which is what I had to end up doing because my C clamp was too big to fit under the car with stuff in the way.

    • @alonzocates4742

    Hey Michael! I have a b18b with stock tranny and shift linkages. I am planning to get the same exact shifter as you, the ktuned pro circuit. Will I run into the same problem you did with the shift linkage weight cutting? Because if I will, I might not get it then. Thanks for your time.

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  9 лет назад

      Elijah Morin I have a good feeling you're going to have the same problem. I don't know why K-Tuned designed it like that but ever since I installed it, I've had absolutely no problems.

    • @elijahmorin2376
      @elijahmorin2376 9 лет назад

      +Michael Flare thanks for the reply! I have an integra and i was looking online and the stock integra shifter is much wider where it mounts to the linkage than a stock civic one (d series), and thats why you would need to cut the integra shifter to fit in a civic. Considering i have an integra, does that mean i have a wider linkage than the one you have on your car because you have a civic, therefore, no cutting is required? Also what would the spacers provided by k tuned do for me? Thanks!

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  9 лет назад

      You might be correct about the Integra's shifter being wider in the connecting part but that was not my issue. My width was perfectly matched with the shifter's base. The problem was the welded weight on the linkage from the factory. It got in the way VERTICALLY, not horizontally (width wise). The piece i was cutting in the video is the WEIGHTED piece that is part of the linkage, not the part that wraps the side of the shifter's base. By the way, the spacers are very important. You want no play at all where it connects because that will give you a sloppy shifter feel. The washer will make the whole connector more firm and direct leading to less play.

    • @elijahmorin2376
      @elijahmorin2376 9 лет назад

      +Michael Flare oh i see, thanks for the clarification. So do you think we both have the same size weights in the way considering that our shift linkages are different?

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  9 лет назад

      Don't jump to conclusions about my shift linkage. You assumed I have a D series but my engine was never revealed to anyone on here so it's still unclear to the public which lnikage I have. I have a feeling you'll have to cut your linkage like mine if you got the K-Tuned shifter too.

  • @dariusscotland163
    @dariusscotland163 8 лет назад

    I have a question Michael or anyone else who is able to answer. I got a d15 transmission from a civic from my integra it came with the shift linkage. Will I be able to use the shift linkage it came with or would I have to get one for the integra? not sure if they are different

    • @MichaelFlare
      @MichaelFlare  8 лет назад

      +Darius Scotland I am not 100% sure because I"m not an expert but I'll try to answer this as best of my knowledge. First off, why are you putting a Civic transmission in an Integra? That is so strange. Anyways. I know for a fact that B series and D series transmissions have different length/size shift linkages (Integra DC only came with B series engines). However, I am not sure if an Integra and Civic can share the exact same shift linkage even if the same exact motor was given to both cars because the chassis is different. I highly doubt it will match so I'm going to say that Civics and Integras itself have different size linkages already. Now for your scenario, you not only have a different chassis that the transmission is swapped with, but the Integra never came with with a D series motor (assuming you have a DC and not a DA). That means a D series shift linkage was never created to fit an Integra body unless someone has made one to fit out there.

    • @dariusscotland163
      @dariusscotland163 8 лет назад

      +Michael Flare Hi thanks for replying. Yes I do have a jdm dc1 which came with the sohc zc engine and from what I know this engine would be classified as a D series and most D series parts should be interchangeable. However the reason a civic transmission was chosen is because there are not many (if any) jdm dc1 where I'm from with manual transmission they are mostly automatic. I am actually changing my car from an automatic to manual. since there are mostly more manual d series civics where I'm from I was able to get a manual transmission much easier. Since it would also be difficult to find a linkage for an integra due to the availability of them with manual transmission I assume that there will be some fabrication that needs to be done then with the linkage which i would not mind as this set up will only be on until I'm able to afford a full b series swap.
