Unfortunately NRS and WB made sure that this was the last MK game I buy at full price. I completely agree with everything you said and it's sad because so many of us have such fond memories of MK and it's a franchise we were still willing to hold out hope for.
This game has never felt quite right to me. Didn’t feel like an MK game. Proves to me that fatalities aren’t the only thing that makes MK MK. It’s had a certain vibe for the past 30 years but that changed in this one. I still play for the weekly challenges but I find myself asking “Why am I playing? I’m not even having fun.” The guest character imo are the worst we’ve had since they started adding dlc characters. Horror characters really fit MK but I guess we ran out of good ones? All these caped guys was not the move. I personally hope they are done with this game and we can move on to the next project, whatever that may be. I agree MK as a fighting game needs a break, make us crave it. Give us that Shaolin Monks remake, a Deception remaster or Injustice 3. Something different.
I think you’re talking about that dungeon-esque aesthetic that felt brutal and dark. I think that’s why the game didn’t feel like Mortal Kombat to you; I’ve heard/read more comments similar to you that that game just didn’t feel right to them
I feel like it doesn't matter anymore because the game is 'dead' now. It's going to be better to appear for her in the next game (ifffff they learned there mistakes ofc)

I think you're completely right losty, Netherrealm needs a break from MK. I would loveeeee Injustice 3 but they know that mortal kombat is way more popular so im scared they will focus on another rushed mortal kombat and forget injustice.. Mortal Kombat was a big part of my childhood but its not the same anymore :(
I hope it isn't true it would suck if mk1 ended like how mk11 did like we could get another expansion with Jade,Skarlet,Kai and even Fujin with more game modes this has to be a troll

I wholeheartedly agree with you, I was so hyped for mk1 when it came out and I bought the 120 dollar premium version, such a waste I really play this game so much less than mk11. I miss the customization and krypt
I 100% agree with everything that you said. MK1 is unpolished and gets boring after a while. Although the gameplay is nice, the kameo system and the learning curve is just a hassle.
My thoughts on MK1 (story and character-wise) as someone who just watched it: It had some great concepts but also some weaker ones that fell flat. For example, Liu Kang’s timeline aimed to be ideal, giving us amazing things like Kitana and Mileena as sisters, Sindel alive and good-but where is Jerrod? He’s always talked up as great but never gets to appear alive, which is frustrating! As a Kitana fan, her role was such a disappointment. I love that Mileena finally gets good things and has a loyal bond with Kitana, but it feels like they sacrificed Kitana for that. She’s no longer a major character, just a background one always tied to Mileena. She lost her relationship with Liu Kang and now feels like a lackluster version of Jade+Old Mileena. Speaking of Jade-where is she? Once again, she’s missing! It feels like they replaced her with Tanya, who now fills the wise, loyal role Jade used to have, but as Mileena’s lover instead of Kitana’s best friend. It’s like they swapped roles: Mileena is in Kitana’s place, Kitana is in Mileena’s but “good,” and Tanya is standing in for Jade, who’s just gone. Honestly, i love to see Mileena winning, but not when that comes at the cost of Kitana becoming a minor character who can only talk about Mileena. Even Mileena in her place (of being less of a major character) had more personality and things going on! She didn't just talk about Kitana all the time, and when she did, it was interesting! Now it just feels like they swapped Kitana and Mileena but Kitana is lame and doesn't do anything. Like, ok girl, she's a commander or whatever, but then what? she's not interesting at all! we don't get to see her do much at all. This is the storyline that's most interesting to me in MK, it's the family of Jerrod, Sindel, Kitana and Mileena, and also Jade even if she's not part of the family, i LOVE anything related to them! Jade was finally becoming a better character in MK11, she wasn't just Kitana's loyal friend and bodyguard, she had her own personality and things going on finally! Aside from gameplay, story and design-wise Jade was so great, everyone loved her for that! Now she just disappears? That's so lame, too! I hope one day we get to finally see Jerrod and Sindel as emperor and empress and then both Kitana and Mileena becoming friends and sisters despite their differences, that'd be really cool! especially if they could both have their thrones?! that'd be so cool! neither of them would have to be thrown to the side, or maybe even one of them gets to go have their own thing, they don't need to both be empresses, they just have to both be interesting and do their thing, have their own lives, their own love stories! I was looking forward for Liu Kang's timeline but... well... it fell short, the writing isn't that good. I like what they did with Scorpion and Sub-Zero, though, it's fun! I'm not a fan of them, though, so idk what their fans think. But it's cool that we get to have each one be themselves and Scorpion be a good guy by being Sub-Zero's brother.
I wasn't impressed with the game from the start. I love MK too but they went backwards with MK1. It released with less features than previous games like it didn't have rooms, the ability to tag moves for practice, etc. and it was definitely released too early. It's infuriating because we all know that NRS is capable of making a better game than this.
My biggest issue and problem with this game a majority of the community problem too, is this the Prices, For the game I think the game is fantastic at high Level you can’t really mash in this game if you know what your doing. However the Kombat pass for 50$ is very selfish from NRS I think yes I understand that they need us as in content creators support but for 50 dollars for characters and story. What they’ve should of is Release the character every 2 -3 weeks like MK11.MK11 had a character reveal after KL was done or at least a tournament of some sort. My point is they’ve should’ve stuck too the MK11 style of releasing characters was way better than this. But however the Kameo system was a lot of fun
The kameo system is fun had it been balanced better i think it would of shined brighter. While it has improved mk1 still feels like an incomplete game compared to mk11 despite mk1 being more fun.
Yes! This can’t be said enough! It’s the critiques and critics. They bash and bash and set up their audience for their wild imaginations and when the game doesn’t meet their said expectations, they complain. So great job, the game is canceled, this is what they wanted
Damn man. I loved playing Mortal Kombat 1, but the content and updates are extremely slow. I agree that the game was typically unfinished and was getting better. Buying a fatality though is quite scummy and the Kameo characters were cool, but not really needed in my opinion. Whatever NRS next game is I do it’s like Injustice 3. I also do agree NRS needs to take a break from Mortal Kombat.
The gameplay is so good that I really hope they finish the game and, like you said, give us more things to use this awesome gameplay on. For the next game they really just need to focus on the modes, the menu, the customization etc. cause the gameplay is already in a great state, which shows the work they put in. Like you can’t be mad at the studio.
SF6 just released a new feature and event update for Battle Hub and dozens of servers were filled with players, meanwhile we don't even have rooms in MK1💀 NRS players have been eating shit since this game came out💩

I don’t know, you just made me realize that I haven’t felt as excited about MK since the release of MK9. That game was something else, even though my main sucked - Sindel - I loved the story and played it like insane. I really enjoyed MK11 too. Maybe I’m getting old and grumpy? Haha. This game didn’t feel like MK at all to me, feels more like a slightly brutal Capcom game. Also, you are not wrong at all Losty, thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thanks for this video. Please do more like this! Nobody cares but here's my ratings : Mk11, 8 over 10. Mk1, a ten. I think this game is so good-looking and fun to play, there are so many free skins and colors, it's the goat to me. It would be even more amazing I admit with the mk11 customization system. And sorry I can't play anymore mk9 or 10, they're so ugly compared to mk1. I personally play and love a fifhting game because of its graphics, animations and sounds first of all. The gameplay comes after. I really hope they'll add more characters to MK1 and I would be very happy also to see a new mk game.

I have to say MK 1 to me I was enjoying it for the most part. I thought the Kameo system was a really cool add to the game. I like how Reptile, Mileena and Baraka was treated with respect. The story for the game was really good until the revealed of Damashi is really Titan Shang Tsung is where the story fell for me. As I wish we had gotten Dragon King Onaga instead. And the ending all you have to do is defeat Titan Shang Tsung once instead of a 2 out 3 was disappointing. I feel Netherrealm studio needs to end the multi timeline stuff. I wasn't a fan of Scorpion Kuai Liang being wed to Harumi.I felt Hanzo got done so dirty.I hate like he already lost his mantle. He also loses his wife. I hate how Bi Han run as Sub-Zero was cut short. Noob Sailbot being introduce to the story is to early. As well leaving a void in who will be the next Sub-Zero. I just wish this timeline Noob Saibot identity should had been the dad of Kuai Liang and Bi Han. That would've been so much better. Changing Cyrax and Sektor gender wasn't needed. I feel if they wanted female cyborgs. They should had waited until Frost was introduce in the story. And have her form her own female cyborg clan would had been much better. I just feel Netherrealm Studios dropped the ball. Like don't get me wrong I still find the MK1 story good. I just feel Netherrealm studios biggest flaws is their execution when it comes to certain characters and certain moments in the story. I hope you have a wonderful day Losty. They need to rethink everything and in my opinion go back to the roots. I think they should return to the fast-paced gameplay of MK9 and MKX, use those games as a foundation and perfect it with all that they've learned so far. They need to bring back the essence and quickness of MKX. That game was too good and was the perfect Mortal Kombat game. If they tweak and improve what it had it would be amazing.
Everything bad was when Kuai Liang broke my heart with Harumi... She should be with Hanzo and NRS forgets the real Scorpio who always wanted to see his Wife come back to life and now she is in the arms of the man I love. .. 😢 And that's why I stopped playing MK1, the rest didn't matter to me... I will be disappointed if MK1 is done because I wanted to see Kung Jin playable again... and Jade 😢 I don't care for the 2 year cycle I would love a NRS game to have years of content support like Street Fighter and Tekken but it will never happen. WB wants $$$ so naturally they will jump ship and move on to injustice because it'll make them money. And injustice will be expensive make no mistake.
I found myself pretty disappointed with this game overall. I think there is a huge lack of customization and variety of game modes and it makes the game bland. The krypt and towers of time were extremely fun game modes that added extra content other than just online matches. I appreciate that they went for something new with Kamoes but I don’t think it worked. I hope they revert back to some of the things that made MK11 fun. What I do think they improved on were the general in-game mechanics.
Love a "My thoughts" video style! Losty i see you're kind of fed up and tired with how MK currently is, but i wonder if you'd have fun maybe focusing on something else Mortal Kombat related?? Like, instead of just playing every latest MK game, you could try playing older MK games in chronological order! or maybe in order of release, so you can do a Mor)tal Kombat marathon! You could get help to find the most accessible early MK games, emulate the ones that can't be found anymore (in secret, no one needs to know its emu 😂), and that way you could experience all of Mortal Kombat, all the good old games all over again! from 2D pixel era, to the 3D MK4 era (can't you see, Liu Kang?! THIS IS A TRAP!), to the 3D ps2 era, to MK 2011! I think that would be a lot of fun!
Here in the US, depending on your region, the DLC was anywhere from 80-100 usd. And with that price no one that I knew, including myself were not going to buy it. Especially because the launch of the game didn’t impress me
Mortal Kombat under Midway lasted for 16 years and they gave us a lot of MK games. Mortal Kombat under WB lasted for 12 years , we only got the MK fighting games and those games went down hill really fast.
I bought the game when it released because Mileena was included in the base roster and looked amazing (it was a dealbreaker if they tried to release her last again). But the only DLC I actually wanted was the John Claude Van Damme skin and they wouldn't sell it separately so I didn't buy anything else.
Well explained. I literally feel disappointed after buying the Ultimate Edition of MK1 bcs like it's just feel weird. Also I don't really like the kameo system, like just gimme the "real" 1V1 IMO. This makes me go back to playing MKX and planning to buy Tekken 8 LMAO.
It actually hurts also to me to said it, but MK1 was a huuuuuuge disappointment for me. I was really hype when it was announced that insane trailer, but after day 1 launch, everything was going doomed. I always tried to be positive but in time I was realizing the game is unfinished. not a fan of the Kameo system (I tried to get used to but too many combos to learn lol. and also tooked some spot of other characters that should it be there.) lack of communication, they go in silence with no explanations, they don't interact with the community like what's going? not even with artists? and they said they listen and see, but it doesn't feel like that. the nasty microtransactions, every progress or cosmetics you have it has to be always online and not offline. lack of customization and creativity for some designs in costumes they only used re-colors in the same costume over and over and also lack of single player mode for people that are not into competitive, like me lol. Invasions was okey, but a huge disappointment to, I really wish to see Konquest in next gen :( That's why I don't play it anymore and I don't have hopes for a KP3 as the insider said. I tried to be positive besides all those issues, but honestly, I can't trust them anymore. it's all about the greedy money that WB are doing to this franchise and destroying it the lore and characters, and I feel bad for NRS, not having the freedom to do what they want for this franchise. but I think MK needs a break or at least doing a remaster/remake of old games or go to another project, but I do wish to see the 3d era being a remaster or remake arriving to the next gen to revive those moments how MK was. (I think I talked too much lmao. sorry. much love Losty! ❤)
I'm 100% with you like I wait until something is confirm from the game or company itself until they say something, so I'll have my eye on it. And another thing i agree is the game feeling unfinished becuase Mk11 gave us a lot and we loved it then Mk1 comes and we can't do much at all. It was pretty much wait you said "copy/paste" since they just transferred some parts of mk11 to mk1, and it feels lask lustered.
A while back ed was talking about a new ninja being put into the game as a hidden fight pink floyd it never happend all we got was some weird message that says will you merry me on one of the stages with fireworks
There was a time where there was no content for mk11 and netherrealm didn't give an answer for like 8 months if the game was done so it's probably the same situation with this game
They need to take the storytelling part a bit seriously, they've been doing the same goofy stuff since MK0 a lot of MK players aren't mostly interested in the gameplay they want to experience a very good story too.

When i saw the first Trailer for MK1 i was so accited. Then i bought it and was like. "Okay, as a non online player the new story is cool, Sindel kitana and mileena are together again. Yay. But then i play all the chars towers and then thats it.
What i'd do for a new timeline MK game (cause honestly? this one's kinda ruined already 😂not fully but kinda): -Make Geras the keeper of time, titan and guide (basically a god). -Liu Kang becomes human again. -Raiden becomes Liu Kang's and Kung Lao's master/sensei but human (with powers of course). -Kung Lao and Liu Kang as BFFs again. -Keep tarkat as a disease. -Keep Kitana and Mileena as sisters. -Jade is Kitana's loyal friend but also a champion of Edenia. -Finally make Jerrod's debut as a character in MK instead of just a background story and make him be with Sindel, a good Sindel like in this game. -Bring back ONAGA, the dragon king! -Make Onaga have his champions, just like Edenia has it's champions and Earthrealm has it's champions, then make Shao Kahn one of his champions! -Make a storyline around Shao Kahn inevitably being a traitor that eventually gets together with others to scheme and overthrow Onaga. -Then after that happens in some way, show us the rivalry between Jerrod and Shao Kahn. I have a few ideas of who should be the champions of each realm: Earthrealm: of course, the classics +1, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sonya Blade, Jax Briggs, Johnny Cage and Kenshi (would be cool if they're always six i guess) Edenia: Jade, Li Mei, Tanya, Rain, Taven and Daegon (Taven and Daegon are edenians, if i remember correctly) Outworld: Shao Kahn, Goro, Kintaro, Skarlet, Sheeva, Kano. Of course these are only the ones i could think of quickly but they can be changed to what makes more sense, but it would be cool to see each realm have it's own champions, except for some realms that might not participate for other reasons, like Netherrealm because it serves the function of being hell, the heaven realm is just where the gods or elder-gods live, and then i don't know what's the deal with the order and chaos realms :' ) Maybe like, earthrealm is called that by the gods because it's a more natural, down to earth place, where there's not much magic, then Edenia is called that because it's a wonderful place like an eden where people live happy long lives with magic and stuff, then Outworld is maybe a place with a lot of outcasts? or something like that, and then the other realms you can guess why they'd be called their names by the gods haha EDIT: I just had a GREAT idea!!!!!!!! What if Kitana and Mileena were secret champions?!!! and that would be the reason they wear masks and stuff!! Like, they're princesses, so their parents won't let them fight for Edenia because they think it's dangerous, but then they decide to just do it! Maybe that's how Mileena gets bitten or infected by Baraka and contracted tarkat! I think that'd be a fun storyline!
I wish there were more online options, kameo-less games, more customization for the characters. What I love is the Mileena treatment, she’s a central piece here and she has amazing skins and a lot of them.
Probably get more support and updates but no more dlc but until nrs confirms it which Probably wont be until this dlc is over. Its probably a wb decision since the game has been kinda a mixed bag.
Honestly I liked mortal kombat 1 but I stopped after the constant micro transactions for skins And the customization just bored me and plus the titan towers where kinda little bit boring And I really wasn’t a fan of the kameo system but I did like playing Omni man and homelander and peacemaker The story changing iconic character was a nice touch but I just lost interest in mk1 as soon as kombat pack 2 released
Wanted to see Jade and Kano definitely. But didn’t want to see Jade with the gameplay she had in MK11. So if they were planning to release her like that again or something similar….maybe the cancel is for the better.
I don't really pay attention to leaks but after I got the cosmetics for ghostface I don't have any reason to play, I've been playing since day one and there's nothing in shrine Soo 🤷🏽 its an uninstall for me
i hope they do end support for the game and start making a new one asap. MK1 gameplay was fun but there’s so little to do outside of multiplayer. invasions was such a flop, there was no reason to get rid of the Krypt too
AI matches is something I really don't miss from MK11. If you have to use AI for progression in the game, what you're really telling me is that your game is not fun enough for me to play and your progression sucks ass.
The rumors made me unmotivated to play the game, does losty or anyone have any advice for motivation? From my perspective i was excited to buy ghostface since i didnt purchase khaos reigns and as soon as i heard no more content would be released it detoured me from wanting to learn more characters and lab, what is the point? This game is already dead. I might as well save my skills for the next NRS game
blame whoever decided $50 dlc with a few characters and a 3 hour story was a good idea. Elden Ring dlc was $40 and had tenfold the content that mk 1 has in general, it’s ridiculous
The game is trash. Mk9 and MkX were the best. Deception was great konquest wise with chess Kombat and Tetris. But it's lackluster now. - from a guy playing Mortal Kombat before you were born.
i will not be surprised if this is true. Warner Bros has destroyed the franchise and NRS has contributed heavily since they don’t listen to their community and don’t take into account our thoughts and suggestions. Delivering the game unfinished was a total chaos.. I have officially lost hope

I hope one day we get to finally see Jerrod and Sindel as emperor and empress and then both Kitana and Mileena becoming friends and sisters despite their differences, that'd be really cool! especially if they could both have their thrones?! that'd be so cool! neither of them would have to be thrown to the side, or maybe even one of them gets to go have their own thing, they don't need to both be empresses, they just have to both be interesting and do their thing, have their own lives, their own love stories! I was looking forward for Liu Kang's timeline but... well... it fell short, the writing isn't that good.
I like what they did with Scorpion and Sub-Zero, though, it's fun! I'm not a fan of them, though, so idk what their fans think. But it's cool that we get to have each one be themselves and Scorpion be a good guy by being Sub-Zero's brother.
The Scorpion one is literally kinda disappointing for me with the fact that Hanzo Hasashi is just gone hahaha.
I wasn't impressed with the game from the start. I love MK too but they went backwards with MK1. It released with less features than previous games like it didn't have rooms, the ability to tag moves for practice, etc. and it was definitely released too early. It's infuriating because we all know that NRS is capable of making a better game than this.
My biggest issue and problem with this game a majority of the community problem too, is this the Prices, For the game I think the game is fantastic at high Level you can’t really mash in this game if you know what your doing. However the Kombat pass for 50$ is very selfish from NRS I think yes I understand that they need us as in content creators support but for 50 dollars for characters and story. What they’ve should of is Release the character every 2 -3 weeks like MK11.MK11 had a character reveal after KL was done or at least a tournament of some sort. My point is they’ve should’ve stuck too the MK11 style of releasing characters was way better than this. But however the Kameo system was a lot of fun
The kameo system is fun had it been balanced better i think it would of shined brighter. While it has improved mk1 still feels like an incomplete game compared to mk11 despite mk1 being more fun.

Damn man. I loved playing Mortal Kombat 1, but the content and updates are extremely slow. I agree that the game was typically unfinished and was getting better. Buying a fatality though is quite scummy and the Kameo characters were cool, but not really needed in my opinion. Whatever NRS next game is I do it’s like Injustice 3. I also do agree NRS needs to take a break from Mortal Kombat.
The gameplay is so good that I really hope they finish the game and, like you said, give us more things to use this awesome gameplay on. For the next game they really just need to focus on the modes, the menu, the customization etc. cause the gameplay is already in a great state, which shows the work they put in. Like you can’t be mad at the studio.
SF6 just released a new feature and event update for Battle Hub and dozens of servers were filled with players, meanwhile we don't even have rooms in MK1💀 NRS players have been eating shit since this game came out💩

I don’t know, you just made me realize that I haven’t felt as excited about MK since the release of MK9. That game was something else, even though my main sucked - Sindel - I loved the story and played it like insane. I really enjoyed MK11 too. Maybe I’m getting old and grumpy? Haha. This game didn’t feel like MK at all to me, feels more like a slightly brutal Capcom game. Also, you are not wrong at all Losty, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Nobody cares but here's my ratings : Mk11, 8 over 10. Mk1, a ten. I think this game is so good-looking and fun to play, there are so many free skins and colors, it's the goat to me. It would be even more amazing I admit with the mk11 customization system.
And sorry I can't play anymore mk9 or 10, they're so ugly compared to mk1. I personally play and love a fifhting game because of its graphics, animations and sounds first of all. The gameplay comes after.
I really hope they'll add more characters to MK1 and I would be very happy also to see a new mk game.

I have to say MK 1 to me I was enjoying it for the most part. I thought the Kameo system was a really cool add to the game. I like how Reptile, Mileena and Baraka was treated with respect. The story for the game was really good until the revealed of Damashi is really Titan Shang Tsung is where the story fell for me. As I wish we had gotten Dragon King Onaga instead. And the ending all you have to do is defeat Titan Shang Tsung once instead of a 2 out 3 was disappointing. I feel Netherrealm studio needs to end the multi timeline stuff.
I wasn't a fan of Scorpion Kuai Liang being wed to Harumi.I felt Hanzo got done so dirty.I hate like he already lost his mantle. He also loses his wife. I hate how Bi Han run as Sub-Zero was cut short. Noob Sailbot being introduce to the story is to early. As well leaving a void in who will be the next Sub-Zero. I just wish this timeline Noob Saibot identity should had been the dad of Kuai Liang and Bi Han. That would've been so much better.
Changing Cyrax and Sektor gender wasn't needed. I feel if they wanted female cyborgs. They should had waited until Frost was introduce in the story. And have her form her own female cyborg clan would had been much better. I just feel Netherrealm Studios dropped the ball. Like don't get me wrong I still find the MK1 story good. They need to bring back the essence and quickness of MKX. That game was too good and was the perfect Mortal Kombat game. If they tweak and improve what it had it would be amazing.

I will be disappointed if MK1 is done because I wanted to see Kung Jin playable again... and Jade 😢 I don't care for the 2 year cycle I would love a NRS game to have years of content support like Street Fighter and Tekken but it will never happen. WB wants $$$ so naturally they will jump ship and move on to injustice because it'll make them money. And injustice will be expensive make no mistake.
I found myself pretty disappointed with this game overall. I think there is a huge lack of customization and variety of game modes and it makes the game bland. The krypt and towers of time were extremely fun game modes that added extra content other than just online matches. I appreciate that they went for something new with Kamoes but I don’t think it worked. I hope they revert back to some of the things that made MK11 fun. What I do think they improved on were the general in-game mechanics.

Losty i see you're kind of fed up and tired with how MK currently is, but i wonder if you'd have fun maybe focusing on something else Mortal Kombat related??
Like, instead of just playing every latest MK game, you could try playing older MK games in chronological order! or maybe in order of release, so you can do a Mor)tal Kombat marathon! You could get help to find the most accessible early MK games, emulate the ones that can't be found anymore (in secret, no one needs to know its emu 😂), and that way you could experience all of Mortal Kombat, all the good old games all over again! from 2D pixel era, to the 3D MK4 era (can't you see, Liu Kang?! THIS IS A TRAP!), to the 3D ps2 era, to MK 2011!
I think that would be a lot of fun!
Here in the US, depending on your region, the DLC was anywhere from 80-100 usd. And with that price no one that I knew, including myself were not going to buy it. Especially because the launch of the game didn’t impress me
Mortal Kombat under Midway lasted for 16 years and they gave us a lot of MK games. Mortal Kombat under WB lasted for 12 years , we only got the MK fighting games and those games went down hill really fast.
I bought the game when it released because Mileena was included in the base roster and looked amazing (it was a dealbreaker if they tried to release her last again). But the only DLC I actually wanted was the John Claude Van Damme skin and they wouldn't sell it separately so I didn't buy anything else.
I really hope kombat pack 3 doesn’t get cancelled because I want jade and Sonya to be in front for once in a story. Also, they need to redeem kung Jin
Well explained. I literally feel disappointed after buying the Ultimate Edition of MK1 bcs like it's just feel weird. Also I don't really like the kameo system, like just gimme the "real" 1V1 IMO. This makes me go back to playing MKX and planning to buy Tekken 8 LMAO.
It actually hurts also to me to said it, but MK1 was a huuuuuuge disappointment for me. I was really hype when it was announced that insane trailer, but after day 1 launch, everything was going doomed. I always tried to be positive but in time I was realizing the game is unfinished. not a fan of the Kameo system (I tried to get used to but too many combos to learn lol. and also tooked some spot of other characters that should it be there.) lack of communication, they go in silence with no explanations, they don't interact with the community like what's going? not even with artists? and they said they listen and see, but it doesn't feel like that. the nasty microtransactions, every progress or cosmetics you have it has to be always online and not offline. lack of customization and creativity for some designs in costumes they only used re-colors in the same costume over and over and also lack of single player mode for people that are not into competitive, like me lol. Invasions was okey, but a huge disappointment to, I really wish to see Konquest in next gen :(
That's why I don't play it anymore and I don't have hopes for a KP3 as the insider said. I tried to be positive besides all those issues, but honestly, I can't trust them anymore. it's all about the greedy money that WB are doing to this franchise and destroying it the lore and characters, and I feel bad for NRS, not having the freedom to do what they want for this franchise. but I think MK needs a break or at least doing a remaster/remake of old games or go to another project, but I do wish to see the 3d era being a remaster or remake arriving to the next gen to revive those moments how MK was. I'm 100% with you like I wait until something is confirm from the game or company itself until they say something, so I'll have my eye on it. And another thing i agree is the game feeling unfinished becuase Mk11 gave us a lot and we loved it then Mk1 comes and we can't do much at all. It was pretty much wait you said "copy/paste" since they just transferred some parts of mk11 to mk1, and it feels lask lustered.
A while back ed was talking about a new ninja being put into the game as a hidden fight pink floyd it never happend all we got was some weird message that says will you merry me on one of the stages with fireworks
There was a time where there was no content for mk11 and netherrealm didn't give an answer for like 8 months if the game was done so it's probably the same situation with this game
They need to take the storytelling part a bit seriously, they've been doing the same goofy stuff since MK0 a lot of MK players aren't mostly interested in the gameplay they want to experience a very good story too.

What i'd do for a new timeline MK game (cause honestly? this one's kinda ruined already 😂not fully but kinda):
-Make Geras the keeper of time, titan and guide (basically a god).
-Liu Kang becomes human again.
-Raiden becomes Liu Kang's and Kung Lao's master/sensei but human (with powers of course).
-Kung Lao and Liu Kang as BFFs again.
-Keep tarkat as a disease.
-Keep Kitana and Mileena as sisters.
-Jade is Kitana's loyal friend but also a champion of Edenia.
-Finally make Jerrod's debut as a character in MK instead of just a background story and make him be with Sindel, a good Sindel like in this game.
-Bring back ONAGA, the dragon king!
-Make Onaga have his champions, just like Edenia has it's champions and Earthrealm has it's champions, then make Shao Kahn one of his champions!
-Make a storyline around Shao Kahn inevitably being a traitor that eventually gets together with others to scheme and overthrow Onaga.
-Then after that happens in some way, show us the rivalry between Jerrod and Shao Kahn.
I have a few ideas of who should be the champions of each realm:
Earthrealm: of course, the classics +1, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sonya Blade, Jax Briggs, Johnny Cage and Kenshi (would be cool if they're always six i guess)
Edenia: Jade, Li Mei, Tanya, Rain, Taven and Daegon (Taven and Daegon are edenians, if i remember correctly)
Outworld: Shao Kahn, Goro, Kintaro, Skarlet, Sheeva, Kano.
Of course these are only the ones i could think of quickly but they can be changed to what makes more sense, but it would be cool to see each realm have it's own champions, except for some realms that might not participate for other reasons, like Netherrealm because it serves the function of being hell, the heaven realm is just where the gods or elder-gods live, and then i don't know what's the deal with the order and chaos realms :' )
Maybe like, earthrealm is called that by the gods because it's a more natural, down to earth place, where there's not much magic, then Edenia is called that because it's a wonderful place like an eden where people live happy long lives with magic and stuff, then Outworld is maybe a place with a lot of outcasts? or something like that, and then the other realms you can guess why they'd be called their names by the gods haha
EDIT: I just had a GREAT idea!!!!!!!! What if Kitana and Mileena were secret champions?!!! and that would be the reason they wear masks and stuff!! Like, they're princesses, so their parents won't let them fight for Edenia because they think it's dangerous, but then they decide to just do it! Maybe that's how Mileena gets bitten or infected by Baraka and contracted tarkat! I think that'd be a fun storyline!

I wish there were more online options, kameo-less games, more customization for the characters. What I love is the Mileena treatment, she’s a central piece here and she has amazing skins and a lot of them.
Probably get more support and updates but no more dlc but until nrs confirms it which Probably wont be until this dlc is over. Its probably a wb decision since the game has been kinda a mixed bag.

Honestly I liked mortal kombat 1 but I stopped after the constant micro transactions for skins
