Hey Viperian, i had like the same troubles like you did but when i watched your guide i needed like one hour and a half to beat William P. on this track. But fun fact: on the day when i beaten William P. (29th May, 2020), i literally had to do more times than it should have been, because i got the EXACT SAME TIME (1:19:74), but it didnt count as a victory (it was so painfull, because it happened three more times), a few minutes later i managed to beat it legit for 0.07s.
Watching this to be able to beat Oxide... Edit: after two weeks I managed to beat Oxide on all tracks and now I've beaten the dev time on crash cove thanks alot for the tutorial
I found a trick : jumping over the arrow has that weird hitbox thing happening and it kinda propels you forward and you get a boost upon landing. Dunno if it saves time but I did it in my successful attempt.
Using the environment like this is really helpful! Like jumping onto the lip of the conveyor belt for a jump and drop boost in Assembly Lane. Jumping on the lip of the broken concrete in Dingo Canyon. Drifting over corners helps too. The spiral in Android Alley before the shortcut I drift right and drift boost over the corner isntead of jumping it and you get a jump with a drop boost then continue. Also jumping onto the fence for the Gingerbread Joyride shortcut to give you an extra bit of time to adjust your direction. Took me SO long to realise how William P. was getting his drop boost into I realised it was the arrow haha
I really like how in depth you go with these. For this one I especially like how you explained the shortcut jump boost after jumping from the water. I would sometimes get a boost after landing it and sometimes I wouldn’t, but I’ll try this trick out to get better consistency with it! I’m still on the Velo time for this track though LOL
This guide helped me beat the developer time. At first, I tied the developer time which was accepted as a win for oxide or velo time trials, but not for this one, OOOHH NOOO, I had to go back and get a slightly better time for it which I did, 80 attempts later, and it was 1'19.61 about 0.13 seconds faster than William P's time. Thanks TheViperian, without you I wouldn't have beaten the dev time trial.
I cut my time by 3 seconds today, am down to 1:20. Lost fire else I would've gotten it. Boost on left at bridge is easier if you look at the ridges the bridge has, jump slightly before a ridge near the poles and you'll have enough height.
@@hippopolove ... try to limit your jumping only to when you have to and do tighter U-turns around corners. If you jump too much you won't get your 3 boosts and will lose reserves. That should help in tiny arena. But I agree, it's not the easiest
Waaaaaiiiitwaitwait... You're telling me I'm only 2.4 seconds off of the WR?! I mean, obviously I'm not going to go that extra distance but... jeez William, you're really making me work for those wheels aren't you?
Hello, Viperian, I just wanted to thank you for helping the community with this guide. Thanks to this guide, I was finally able to Finish Crash Cove. Thank you.
Makes me feel a lot better knowing the person who basically teaches me every track took 8 hours to beat this. I finished by 0.2s today after about 3 hours 😁 only my second dev time, got a long way to go My tips would be: make damn sure every boost is as full as possible, or you'll lose sacred flame. It's easy to slack off the perfect boosts when you've been grinding this for ages. Secondly, take the first shortcut jump as far left as possible - that's how I got ahead of the ghost. It's surprising how far left you can go and still jump up actually. If you can get a good lap 1, William P gets a bit sloppy on laps 2 & 3 so if you're ahead, you'll probably stay ahead!
Did crash cove the same day the dev times came out but only beat it with 3 milliseconds. I still try to beat Turbo Track. Crash cove took me around 40 attempts but I'm at my 300th attempt on Turbo Track at minimum and still have not completed it.
I am in the opposite boat. Beat turbo track first try, cannot for the life of me beat crash cove. Can't keep my flames up on crash cove very consistently
So, after coming close to a 37 second lap on Clockwork Wumpa several times yesterday (after a long break from the game), I decided that particular course would be an easy one to knock out today. TWO AND A HALF HOURS of constant resets and a blistered thumb later, and I finally did it, giving me my fifth win out of 40! Proper approaches for the first and last turn of the track were absolutely crucial, and the gear hazards effectively left just one acceptable driving line for that entire section! The pendulum actually wasn't a problem, as at that speed it would always be on the right side of the track.
Does the 37 seconds lap refer to a current pro challenge? I accidentally found out a relic race made this challenge extremely easy. The lap time was not based on real time. Probably unintended... Nevertheless, doing this pro challenge the proper way actually helps training for developer times :)
@@D.Fortesque Yep, that's what started this! I was working on other challenges at the time though, things like "win 10 races with Nitro Sleigh" and "win races with characters to unlock skins". Relic Races help with neither. Actually do need to double check which courses I have left for Platinum Relics at some point... not that I'd get anything but satisfaction from it, but if I'm going this far anyway... Obviously the original CTR tracks have been finished, but I'm certain there's several CNK tracks left unconquered. And I know at least ONE Bonus Track (Nina's) that hasn't been mastered in that way.
Well, I did beat Velo (obviously not first try), because of rewatching this one. Sure, not the best time I did, but since I beaten Velo, idc. Very useful guide
Viperian i am still confused in dragon mines short cut, after we ho hop 3 or 4 times we iminietly click Uturn? did i need to be in specific spot to use u turn because i keep failing?
Thank you so much for this Video at this moment I didn't beat the Dev yet but my PB at the moment was 13 Milliseconds away I'll make a comment after this when I beat this dev but again Thanks for this Video.
I'm back 1 Day later to say I beat It by 5 Milliseconds Idk If I would beat It without this guide so That's why I really appreciate the video. Good Luck with This TT everyone :)
After several hours of tears, rage, and broken hands, I finally beat William P. Only 36 tracks left 😕 Here are some personal tips 1. Don’t jump over the grass at all. 2. First lap at the start do not to a jump boost, just do a set of drift boosts, only jump boost on laps 2 and 3. 3. Try racing against your OWN ghost as well as the dev. What I mean by this try beating someone who’s as good as you. YOU! And eventually you’ll get better and better enough to beat yourself and the dev. 4. Most obvious, do not lose your boost at any point during the race otherwise you automatically lose
I do get why people would find this the hardest as it's the closest to WR however honestly if you get the 1st lap down the rest should be pretty ez (dev time ez) while other tracks like turbo track and out of time, it's a struggle for the entire 3 laps. I honestly wouldn't put crash cove in my top 5 hard Dev times.
I might go and try these developer times later on.. ....in the future. I have had enough with this game for now. Going for the plat was tedious as it is.
I wish i could say that I'm having success but I am struggling to replicate the lines that I see you take. Im using Speed but I dont know what I'm doing wrong. It's frustrating that I'm struggling with even N. Tropy.
I just beat this last night!! I beat it was like 1.19.72 so I barely beat it but I'm so glad I'm done with it but I still have to do all the other things like Turbo Track and all that but I finished N sanity beach area so that's good..
Prettt new to crash racing as a whole but I just beat adventure mode on medium and wanted to start on the N Trophy times. I’m struggling a lot on the shortcut for this track and wether or not I get it seems almost up to chance. Going to keep trying till something sticks
Definitely in my Top 5. However, like 1-1 in Super Mario Bros, Crash Cove is so optimized in speedrunning that with enough practice ANYONE can achieve a 1:18.
how do you keep the boost after you jump to the shortcut, I've tried jumping in the water and to the shortcut but it doesn't work for me, do i need to hold the joystick
I think the problem is Crash Cove is so simple that beating the time trials here are a matter of pure skill, no shortcuts, no blue fire, no cutting curves with U-Turn/Airbrake. Just speed up and keep speeding.
I have an issue for when doing a jump boost sometimes when I try it it just doesn’t work. What is this? You hold the button before falling and then the boost happens. Why isn’t it working?
Well, this may enough to beat Velo, as I think I should pass the dev times. Guide or not, I feel like never be able to beat a single one (followed by many oc)
I was actually a bit ahead and right at the end i thought i had enough reserves to take a straight line to the finish. I didnt, lost my fire and now im 0.1 off :/
Over 400 attempts!!! 😲 Man, no wonder why this dev ghost is so close to the World Record. For me though, it only took me like 10 attempts to beat the dev ghost.
So it literally took you hours to get crash cove? It only took me less than 2 hours to get crash cove when I learnt to adapt so quickly. Its how I managed to improve my skills tremendously this way and overall in online I managed to get way ahead at most players. Besides a point of being with other master CTR Racers cause of the wheels. And we were all green with green hat penta, green mob pinstripe, and myself as Biker Crunch to make it a green podium combo

Sme here, got to 1:20:14, but i had to give up again, crash cove is extremely hard to do fast.
1:19:71 and dev beaten on my 20th try today, took atleast 200 tries before that.
Im glad crash cove was the first one i beat. Bc it made a lot of the rest feel easy

Start with tiny arena, coco park, Android alley. They’re the easiest for sure. It’s way too frustrating to try to beat crash cove first.
Inferno island is also easy... well easier than crash cove
... Roo's Tubes was easiest for me
I find Tiny Arena a bit difficult :/
@@hippopolove ... try to limit your jumping only to when you have to and do tighter U-turns around corners. If you jump too much you won't get your 3 boosts and will lose reserves.
That should help in tiny arena. But I agree, it's not the easiest
I was like .20 seconds from beating this ghost by following your advice. I'm making progress!
Ur the reason I beat the dev,THX Tip:Do 3 drift boosts at the beginning it does not matter if perfect or not
I used drift.
