It is distinct for only ever having one release, and that was its inclusion as the second track on the A&M three track Amy Grant * I Will Remember You promotional CD single which came out in March 1992. Only the original arrangement from the June 1991 Heart In Motion Album (which was the third track on that promo CD single is what has for many years up to the present been routinely aired. The designated track by A&M for air play off that promo CD single when it came out was the Rhythm Remix - the disc's first track, which was, and is the most refined, and finalized version of Amy's in studio performance of I Will Remember for which several months later a very unique, high dollar, high concept, for television broadcast only promotional music video was inspired by, and exclusively created for. It has the very rare distinction in that specific genre to be only one of two high caliber productions specifically themed as a Vietnam War casualties memorium, the other being the group Alice In Chains' uncut, full length promo music video for their big hit Rooster.
AT40 may have played the Album Remix, but as I stated, it was the Rhythm Remix that was specifically stipulated by A&M to be played. The Album Remix was only provided on the promo CD single for radio executives to hear as part of the promotional package. It was not intended for air play at the time of release..
It was NOT on the album because it is a REMIX of the original track NOT the original track, and it hadn’t been conceived of until December of 1991 unlike Michael Omartian’s Initial arrangement released prior to that on the album in June.
Every time i hear this song it REALLY chokes me up. As it brings back the wonderful memories i had with my 2 beloved parrots. There were my constant companions for MANY MANY years. RIP Keiko and Kiwi you both brought me SO MUCH unconditional love and joy. So i pray that your both flying high in God's garden now until the day we are reunited once again. You will NEVER be forgotten and there isn't a day that goes by that i don't shed a tear thinking about both of you....:(
It makes me VERY EMOTIONAL, too. That's when you know that you're a great artist if you can evoke that in your fans. We don't have music like that anymore. Today's mu-sickkk is pure garbage. Thank God that we access to the REAL, TIMELESS music of yesteryear. :-)
I agree with Chris that this is indeed the album remix version which the radio stations used to play. The guitar is less prominent in this version, and it is totally absent from 2:46 - 2:51 (which the album version has).
