- An unboxing, first look and initial impressions of the Anglican Office Book, Second Edition. Available as of August, 2023, this is a gorgeous hand-sized (but thick!) prayer book, incorporating the daily office of the 1928 Book of Common Prayer along with many, many extras, including the entire King James Bible, WITH Apocrypha!

Definitely saving up for this!!
I look forward to seeing your review in that case, my friend.
Thank you for the lovely first look!
Thank you for such a lovely book!
Thanks for making the video. Even though my copy already arrived, I'm using the 1st Edition until my prayer book cover arrives tomorrow.
The only advantage the Anglican Breviary has over the Anglican Office book is that it has sermons by the Church Fathers, and hagiography. The Anglican Office Book is much easier to use. I still use the Anglican Breviary for the sermons and hagiography.
The AOB 2nd Edition is my favorite devotional book because it includes the entire Bible with Apocrypha, and because it a beautiful book.
I will definitely stay tuned for more videos from you on the AOB 2nd edition.
Thanks, Philip.
what beautiful wrapping.
That's what I thought.
Absolutely beautiful! Great first look!
Thanks!
My only quibble, and I own the book, is the paper liner. They are going to fail quickly most likely. I'm going to get mine rebound in leather with a leather liner. It's a shame they did not use the pvc liners some binders are now using. Other than this, I love the book.
I'm not a "premium" Bible consumer, at all, so that all seemed pretty standard to me.
Thanks for watching, Joseph.
Wow, quite the service book! I've never seen so many ribbons either. It's a beauty and I hope you enjoy it brother.
It is, as they say, a dandy.
I’ve been waiting for this!!
Arriving Wednesday (per USPS). Currently drooling as I stare at my mailbox. . . . As you are aware, great tutorials already online for its use.
Dropped this morning, it seems. Yes, I discovered them also.
Which tutorials are you referring to ?
@@chancha807 on the channel of Anglican Office Book, there's a series of tutorials recorded by the editor, exploring the book and its use. (If I put a link to it here, my comment is likely to get zapped.)

That is a beautiful office book. I wish LAP made a nice leather bound BCP for us Eastern Orthodox Christians.
Seems like markets are growing for such things; hope springs eternal.
I just ordered mine and should arrive next week.
Got mine a few days ago. Love it as a Catholic but I suspect many Protestants could also use it. While not laying out the lessons in order can seem annoying, I actually find myself using the 1962 lectionary, not the default, which I couldn’t do if it were like DW:DO, so I’m all for how they did it.
It does offer more flexibility that way. Excellent point, Cleveland Fan.
Hey do a comparison video between this prayerbook and the ordinariate one, sharing your thoughts and opinions. Not going to lie I'm going to slightly retract my words and say this could be the best Anglican office book out there. Will definitely be ordering this soon.
I'll do my best, not being anything close to a liturgical expert or an Anglo-Catholic.
The best is one could do :)@@ma-mo
This looks amazing. Wishing there would be a Roman Catholic version of something like this. I'll probably get it anyway. I will have to save up though as I live in Canada and this is going to cost around $200 Canadian with shipping.
Yikes!
There is a Roman Catholic version of this, it’s called divine worship:daily office (preferably the commonwealth edition). Similar office, not as well executed IMO but it is fully catholic.
Ah. The wax remains. Not even Apple have sealed packages.
It's getting pretty warm up in the loft where I film. I better go check on that.
Dale, will you still make a RUclips video on the AOB 2nd Ed? I will watch it if you make one.
@@AmericanShia786 If I do, it won't be before next month. My coffers need time to refill from my Ar/VR splurge in August.
I wish there was a Spanish-language equivalent to this.
I believe it's the Anglican publishing house I saw some options I believe for Spanish so get on the website and look
The lectionary readings could not be laid out according to the liturgical calendar as there are three different lectionary tables provided in the book so that one would mark the lections in the text according to the table of choice. Personally I use the Canadian 1962.
Good point!
Thanks!
This looks to be a nice book. In your best guess is the font size in the Bible portion. I heard the prayer book portion is 9 pt. Also, there is the first edition of the Anglican Office, is it the same as what’s in this book?
I've never owned a copy of the first edition, so I'm not a good source of info on that. My understanding is the 2nd Ed is expanded and, obviously, much bigger, as it contains the KJV Bible.
If I had to estimate, I would say the scripture portion is around a 6.5 or 7 point font. It's quite small.
Just curious, since the cover is made of faux leather, I shouldn't wrap it in plastic, right? Just thought of keeping the dust out. I read that faux leather can still breathe in a way
I am not sure. Perhaps some expert in bindings or materials can weigh in here.
🤦 "Promosm"
Can you elaborate?
