Wow. Thanks so much for this. Billy Burks is my dad. So cool to see him so young and doing what he loved.
Wow Is Billy your dad ? What year is he born? What a player and fantastic musicians. Is he still playin ?
@@standelman95 Hey. Thanks so much. He is my dad. He was born in 1929. Passed away in 2013. He played on the Grand Ole Opry. He later became a dentist and had a recording studio. Johnny Cash was a patient of his. Those were some great memories. This video in particular is amazing for me to watch :)
@@dnrdni1466 wow That is soo cool, is there any recordings of him playin avaliable? I have around 200 radioshows on tape from around 1953, Billy plays on many of the songs, fantastic player. Thats from the year before this was filmed I believe. Are you on Facebook ? I have some great songs with Billy on accordion I can send over Messenger if you like. 👍
@@standelman95 Wow Thanks for the kind words. I dont have any videos of him. He played accordion and vibes. There are some RUclips videos of him playing later on 3 Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN). I am on Facebook. Jon Burks. In Old Hickory, TN. I may have some CDs. Ill check.
I'm Reds grandson, Pat. My mother was Betty Foley, Reds eldest daughter. Great to see your comment here!
Grady Martin--the best electric guitarist of them all...a pioneer, innovator, a giant. When he toured England in the band with Roy Orbison in '65, the Beatles were in awe of Martin and his playing--rightfully. Oh, and that Bigsby guitar would be just about priceless today at auction; there were only a couple of dozen made--masterpieces all.
+kentown101 He really had a powerful influence on country and rockabilly music in the 50s and early 60s. Definitely a hero of mine.
Wow... what a lineup of musicians!
That put a smile on my face. Nice to see the musicians getting some respect. Imagine seeing this on American Idol...
wonderful, we have forgotten all the real musicians. thank you

Thanks for posting this. It's musical history.
This is outstanding!! Great upload!!
Great,regards from Catalonia.
Oh theres that guitar Grady Martin used On all Johnny Horton songs, wow what à great clip, thanks Deke :-)
Check Grady on early Brenda Lee cuts-try 'Bigelow 6200'. Bob Moore- one of the most in-tune and accurate acoustic Bassists around- on thousands of recording sessions, numerous hits, a Nashville 'A-Team' member along with Grady Floyd Cramer. Bob was on dozens of Elvis tunes-check out 'That's someone you'll never forget', with Hank Garland on 'Echo-Fonic' guitar..Bob's PERFECT intonation-I could go on for days. You had to be a stellar musician back in those days..nowadays, all rank 'musicians' (?)
Red Foley's band includes: Bud Isaacs, ( Steel Guitar), Billy Burk (Accordian), Tommy Jackson (Fiddle), Grady Martin (double neck guitar), Paul Mitchell (Piano), Jimmy Selph (Rhythm Guitar), Bobby Moore (Contra 'doghouse' Bass) Mel Bli (Drums)
@KittraKittra
awesome band, too. you can tell that just from the line-up!
what year is this from? So he says he saw a UFO eh? Grady was one of the first to use the FUzz tone! It says on the first ad for the Maestro Fuzz tone . So is the UFO connection part of the Fuzz tone history?? ;0) g reat clip thanks for sharing.

@Leedysgladstones
"Grady Martin"
Tommy played with Johnny Horton didn't he
What does it say on Grady's pick guard?
grady martin
R. Stevie Moore’s father!!!
It's interesting that he refers to the band members as 'boys'. If they were black this would be seen today as racist but wouldn't be.
say that again?
Iinteresting ? Give me a break !!!!!!
Shut the hell up with the politically correct, race baiting bullshit. Folks are fed up to their fucking necks with that same old bullshit.
