It's always had the 80 mm shoulders and paper thin lower plate, and it's impossible to hide all of those in a fight, so penetrating the Ferdinand from the front has never been a serious problem. I think the Jagdpanther II has suffered more over the years, since its superstructure was actually nerfed when it got its HD model, and it's not even in the tech tree anymore, which means Wargaming will probably never buff it.
@@DovahFett That's the thing. Back then people actually had grow a brain for aiming at weakspots and positioning. Nowadays it's mostly num 2 key spamming. Doesn't help that WG keeps churning out corridor maps.

Yes, back when the game first came out, the tiers only went up to tier 8 and the Ferdinand was one of the scariest vehicles in the game. It was one of the first really powerful vehicles that everyone wanted. Sadly, not any more. I still have mine on my account though.
Ferdi used to be 1 of those TDs that you had to respect even at tier 9. I played it (stock) a few months ago and ended up selling the tank after 1 match. Now I'll research the modules on the JP2 and free XP JT to buy the JPz when it goes on discount next month
Imo gun and gun arc saves this tank, it can brawl and outrade equal and lower tier tanks quite well, and snipe when bottom tier. It also has surprisingly decent traverse and high HP. Still just average at best because of the poor armor and mobility, for sure, but not unplayable. Gun is one of the best at t8 I'd say, even nowadays.

I kind of agree, gun is still very good and it has 1,5k hp, so you can brawl when you are top tier with that alpha and dpm, and still snipe when bottom tier with it. The thing is, Ferdi's armor is very poor, and that paired with bad mobility too is painfull. T28 also has good gun, with lower alpha but great dpm too, and also 1,5k hp with actual armor(just talking about tech tree tanks here). I wouldn't say Ferdi is among the best, just playable and mosty because of the gun. Nothing else.
I stoped playng this game for about 6 years. Now i opend the game and plaing only germans. This was very unpleasant surprise how they nefed all my good tanks.

Lorraines going with fullgold even if they have like 230-ish pen...Could even pen next to the gun with such values from that range... AND wtf remains if u take away armour from such vehicles??? Some slow, clunky, paper freefrags with okay-ish guns...Which everyone wants to duel since most likely he gonna beat it 1 vs 1...

I got up to ferdi, played a couple of games, unlocked the 320 gun, played 2 more games and sold it. This POS feels horrible in 2022, really needs a small mobility buff.

Your recognition and backing for Claus' work would help rid the game of this blight. Conversely by not highlighting this problem you may be seen as effectively supporting these cheaters. I bypassed this tank back in the day when the jagdpanther 2 was an alternative option in the tech tree, never had to suffer the Ferdi.

In the current meta this is an ultimate bush wanker with a reliable gun, but that's all about this tank gun and nothing else.
Ferdi platform is quite pice of shit today but still it has very good gun. I think one of best on tier 8 TDs.
