literal lifesavers TO THIS DAY the mechanic i was gonna use to fix my tie rods and control arms tried to charge me over 4k!! thank yall for these diys i saved over 3k🙏🏽
This is a nice video. I just finished doing this this afternoon. Wasn't all that hard and I saved who knows how much. I also changed my tension struts a few weeks back.

Thanks for the video. Would it be helpful to include the grease gun in your upfront list of tools? Also discuss a little more the need to add grease to the assembly and how. Thanks again
You should post a video of how to replace those troublesome rear axle seals for the 2006-2010 Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300. A local shop wanted $600 to do the job.
It means to attach a grease gun to the shiny silver 'zerk' fitting on the bottom of the outer tie rod end and push grease into the fitting. As you add grease it will cause the rubber boot to 'inflate' with grease. If it pops, you added too much. A grease gun and cartridges of grease are available at your local auto parts store. I use a Valvoline multipurpose grease in a red cartridge, but that's because it's what my dad used not because of any specific qualities.
GAH I’m about to change my inner tie rods because of a loud clunking noise coming from turning left or right. Just take a look under the car while someone turns the wheel and pinpoint that noise.
I dont like it when they skip the work parts. When he started hitting the joint to separate it. I wanna see how hard this is gonna be 😂 sure its easy with a nice car lift
I replaced the inner and outer tie rods on my 05 magnum. I noticed that my new inner tie rods were about 1/16" shorter that the original ones and my outer tie rods were the same length. I put everything back together using the same turns on the nut and outer tie rod that I counted when I removed the original tie rods. My steering is now very tight and when I turn to the left or right it doesn't return easily, should I have compensated the turns for the difference in length with the new outer tie rods?
My inner tie rod boots have been ripped for a good part of 2 years now. I’ve noticed black liquid around the exit point, does that mean the steering rack is bad? If not can I just remove the inner tie rod, clean the socket area that’s probably all sorts of dirty with brake clean, re lube, and then replace it with a new inner tie rod part?
+Taj Laugan If it has been torn for two years there is a good chance the rack and pinion is failing. It could also just be grease and grime due to the grease being exposed to the elements.
+Elemeno Thanks for watching! They could cause some squeaking if they are on their way out, but you will likely have bad tire wear and clunky, uneven steering. 1aauto.com
+adam burns Thank you for checking us out. It is highly recommended to ensure that the inner tie rod end doesn't become loosened while driving. 1aauto.com
Not necessarily, the inner tired end can loosen or rotate independently of the rod and outer end...the jam nut on the outer tired adjust can be snug and yet the inner tired End thats secured to rack can loosen..
+TheIncredible Tank We currently do not have an auto repair video that covers this particular repair. We will keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future. 1aauto.com
+SilentzTheWicked There could be many reasons why you are experiencing this. We would first want to confirm that you had an alignment done after replacing these parts, if so then we would suggest consulting with a local mechanic to determine what else is going on with your vehicle.

Wish you did the lower ball joint video also would have been great to complete the entire suspension videos
A very useful video to see the details of what needs to be done BEFORE picking up my tools to do the job. Thank You
+David Robins Thanks for the feedback!
Very good video! I always enjoy watching these to better my understanding about moving from a lube/tire tech to a actual mechanic. :)

+Joze Har Thank you!
this guy and his video's are the best, great job very helpful
Thanks for making all these great videos
Well made step by step video.

At the end, what did you mean by grease the fitting until the boot swells? What kind of grease are you using?

is there a wheel alignment after changing the outer tire rod?
What a great video!!!! Helped out a bunch!!!!
Do you recommend an alignment after replacing both inner tie rods and tie rod ends?
An alignment isn't necessary after this repair. +Big Sir
do you have video with rear spring link replacing
Question: Should you get your tires aligned after completing this replacement?
+Steve G Yes
Question, travel limiter on my 05 Pacifica has a split to it. Is that normal?
Would a grinding sound when turning the steering wheel be an indicator of a bad tier rod?
GAH I’m about to change my inner tie rods because of a loud clunking noise coming from turning left or right. Just take a look under the car while someone turns the wheel and pinpoint that noise.
Clunk or pop, maybe. Grinding, probably not.
some parts are supposed to be torqued with the weight of the vehicle on them, how do you know when thats necessary
I dont like it when they skip the work parts. When he started hitting the joint to separate it. I wanna see how hard this is gonna be 😂 sure its easy with a nice car lift
Shit hard af i cant get it off

Hi , That thin vertical bar in the middle of the video behind the tie rod What is that part called? Mine snapped and need to replace it. Thanks !
Sway bar
You all make this seem so overly easy. My outer tie rod nut is completely seezed.
Is this the same on a Chrysler 300c
Can you please upload video of how to replace the side vents to a 2006 Chrysler 300C

Could these cause a car to squeak when turning?
+Elemeno Thanks for watching! They could cause some squeaking if they are on their way out, but you will likely have bad tire wear and clunky, uneven steering. 1aauto.com
Is it important to add blue thread lock to the inner tie rod threads? Or is it not exactly necessary.
+adam burns Thank you for checking us out. It is highly recommended to ensure that the inner tie rod end doesn't become loosened while driving. 1aauto.com
For that to happen, the outer-end (jam nut and rod end) would have to come loose first.
Not necessarily, the inner tired end can loosen or rotate independently of the rod and outer end...the jam nut on the outer tired adjust can be snug and yet the inner tired End thats secured to rack can loosen..
Do yoy have a link that shows both the inner and outer tie rod? Can only find the inner
+Raul Jaimes What year, make and model did you need the tie rods for? We can check for you. 1aauto.com
Why no grease on the inner tie rod joint?
Why does it matter how many turns for the jam nut? You are going to be tightening against the out tie rod anyway.
Can you guys show a thermostat change?
+TheIncredible Tank We currently do not have an auto repair video that covers this particular repair. We will keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future. 1aauto.com
grease the fitting at the end?
Thanks
What are those white insolators called or what is their part no.??
Mine broke but can't find them anywhere!
panzerpat I think travel limiter
Or try steering rack limiter
My limiter didn't look like it was limiting much. It had a split in it and what ammount looked like the gap as probably only a 1/32 or less thick.
It works for charger 2006 rt ???
After replacing I’m getting a bad drift in my steering any idea why?
+SilentzTheWicked There could be many reasons why you are experiencing this. We would first want to confirm that you had an alignment done after replacing these parts, if so then we would suggest consulting with a local mechanic to determine what else is going on with your vehicle.
lmaoooo you need a alignment!!!!
Like you videos
+fbbc Thanks for the feedback!
Does this work for a 05
+Kevis Harper This should be a similar installation for this year vehicle.
I wonder why that one person didn't like the video
Jorge O because they didn't benefit from the knowledge this guy is dropping. His videos have helped me fix MAD stuff. Thanks 1a auto guy!
