The gun in the start is the GAU-8 from the A-10 Thunderbolt, which is a jet which was designed for close air support and tank destruction, it's a 30mm cannon which fires rounds made with depleted uranium! The gun alone can destroy tanks, and it's badass, often recognised by the "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT" sounds :) Edit: The friendly fire and civilian casualty rates are due to it just being used that often, not due to it being inaccurate or anything, it's just because it was used very often, and usually very close to friendly troops, so the friendly fire rate is naturally higher
from what iv heard theyre switching from depleted uranium rounds to some kind of tungsten alloy mix, which is honestly understandable once you dig into it abit... tho it still sucks that they chose to ditch self sharpening rounds(its depleted uranium after all, doesnt stop it from uranium-ing)
Well yeah the A-10 is a designated as a close fire support, meant to help out troops close to enemy soldiers. Most other planes don't get as close and oftentimes are used for precision strikes as opposed to close fire support. 1 or 2 Missiles is a lot easier to aim accurately than 300 30mm Uranium/Tungsten AP rounds. As such the A-10 would stand out in highest friendly fire kills, since it is probably one of the only planes that is close fire support. (Granted the A-10 has missiles too, however it primarily uses it's Gau-8 Avenger for Human targets and lightly to heavily armored vehicles).
19:30. Correct, the Welrod is a pistol made to be silent, from the ammo it fires, to the way the barrel was built, to it being a bolt action, means that it's one of the few guns out there that can actually get close to being a "Hollywood quiet" gun, especially when you fire it while pressing it against a target's body.
Issue with the welrod is that with every shot the interior of the suppressor wears out. After about a dozen shots, it becomes about the same volume as a normal suppressor. To fix this, the Brits decided it'd be useful to make the wipes/interior structure in the suppressor replaceable. After a few shots you were supposed to screw off the front end piece (well, front cap, to be more accurate) of the barrel, replace the interior of the barrel, and then screw the end piece back on. The only game that depicts the Welrod accurately that way is H3VR iirc. The Welrod may or may not be used to this day despite being a WW2 gun-iirc the last known use was the Gulf War. There is a spiritual successor to the Welrod made by Brügger & Thomet in Switzerland called the VP9 (not to be confused with the HK pistol of the same name), but if I recall correctly the entire suppressor is detachable.
If I’m not mistaken after the welrod was confirmed to be a success the Brit’s then one upped themselves by making an extremely quiet smg using much of the same technology used to make the welrod.
The reason shotguns get more powerful as the number gets smaller is because the "gauge" is measuring how many balls of lead the same diameter as the barrel it takes to equal 1 pound. So, 12 balls of lead that fit down a 12-gauge barrel are 1 pound. Now think how big the barrel of a 4-gauge must be, and all the gunpowder needed to fill that size shell.
Well how many a 4 gauge has is literally just 4, the main difference is they are HUGE. The 12 gauge has 12 small pellets to fit it of course, those 4 big pellets are a lot more dangerous and lethal
@@sidrenth0512 The Pellet size varies based on the shell you load. Birdshot is a lot of small pellets, Buckshot is not as many pellets, but they're bigger, and Slugs are one piece of lead. Lower gauge means a larger barrel, therefore larger shell, and more gunpowder.
GarandThumb has a really neat video on the effectiveness of shotguns at range if you're at all curious. Also, A-10s were very outdated in terms of the computers they had onboard to simplify things. Where everything else had HUDs, targeting assists and digital displays, the Warthog was designed to have mechanical backups for everything, which meant they kept the avionics packages more simple. This led to pilots struggling to properly identify targets correctly for years until the A10 was updated with more modern equipment to aid the pilot.
Not to mention many of the ff incidents were due to either pilot error (namely misidentification of targets) or receiving incorrect air support coordinates (hard to say if this is due to miscommunication or troops panicking under fire and radioing in wrong coordinates as a result) all of this is then compounded by the vast majority of the a-10s at the time having very outdated systems reducing the pilots ability to accurately identify friend from foe.

13:50 To put it simply, a 12 gauge shell has 12 small metal pellets in each shell. Smaller gauges have less pellets per shell, but the pellets are bigger. So a 4 Gauge has 4 big pellets.
The Gauge is a measurement of how many leadballs of said size can be made with 1 pound of lead. A cannon ball is 1 gauge because 1 cannon ball weighs 1 pound. You can make 12 balls of size 12 gauge with 1 pound of lead. So on and so forth. So the higher the number the smaller the size of the barrel.

The A10 Warthog is the result of giving a lab coat and a bottomless defence budget to a Florida Man and asking him to create the scariest flying thing since the cretaceous period, and proceeds to make it shoot explosive redbull cans at 75 rounds a second.
The A-10 was literally constructed around the GAU-8 Avenger, which the Avenger was made by the washing machine company, General Electric. And yes, the A-10 can in fact slow down enough to fall out of the sky due to lack of lift if it fires the gun too long.
Ahhh the gau-8 avenger. That’s the gun you wanted to know what they were getting shot by. It is in the a-10 warthog and it fires a 30mm round at a crazy high rpm
scientists in russia once came close to completing a WMD known as the -24 gauge shotgun, but the russian goverment stepped in and stopped the project for fear that if the gun was ever fired it would end the world.
Seeing those ACU uniforms makes me glad they're gone. I honestly can't understand how they got made. Also the A-10 Warthog is actually so accurate it's terrifying. The friendly fire is mostly due to friendlies being too close and in the wrong place.
It really isn’t very accurate. Its much better against infantry and light vehicles than the tanks it was intended to destroy precisely because its CEP is too high to reliably land direct hits on a tank in a gun run.

Reason being it gets more deadly as the gauge number goes down is the number of pellets in each slug. 6 gauge has nerf rival sized pellets in its slug 😂
The reason why the A-10 has as many friendly fire accounts as it does, is due to either coordinate input error, pilot error, or due to friendlies being in the radius of where the A-10 is attacking
Gauge (for shotgun shells) is how many lead balls in a shell that add up to a pound of lead. 12 gauge = 12 lead balls per shell. 8 gauge = 8 lead balls that are a little bigger per shell

The A-10 Warthpg is the single most loved aircraft in military history. It's the only thing that all 5 branches of the military agree on; replacing it is stupid. It was designed during the Cold War as a tankbuster, and the plane was quite literally designed around the gun, and the pilot isn't classified as a pilot. He's a "stick operator". Not to mention that the entire plane is protected by an inch of Titanium, protecting the pilot, engine and guns from surface and air threats. There's close air support, and then there's this flying demonspawn from the deepest pits of hell. Look up photos of damaged ones, there's one that took so many rounds that it shredded an engine, and the turbofan refused to die. The plane was swiss cheese and still landed back home safely. It's been in service for nearly half a century and the entire US military and her allies will actively throw hands at the US government if it's retired.
Very little of that is true. They have constantly tried to replace it because its shit and it refused to die because fighting guys in sandals with zero air defense made it useful. Against an enemy with actual air defense it was obsolete decades ago, and it couldn’t actually kill tanks with its gun like it was supposed to even when it was introduced. Without an upgrade package that costs more than a completely new F-16 the pilot has to use FUCKING BINOCULARS to identify targets. No wonder it killed so many friendlies.
You should definitely do reactions to gun channels, a lot of them use the ballistics gel torsos. And yea, people don't get thrown by bullets, but the force that a 50 bmg delivers, if distributed evenly across a person's body, would absolutely throw you across a room lmao
im very sensitive to taste so bang and any powder drinks is just not drinkable, im just 2 used 2 sugar and the sweeteners are worse than consuming normal sugar. i can always taste the bland after you get the flavour then you catch that hint that puts it off.

This game has dismemberment too, shame Badger turned it off due to Twitch being Twitch and fear of demonetisation on RUclips. So if dismemberment is turned on and some poor sod gets shot with a .50 cal or a shotgun, not only will he ragdoll, he will also lose his arm, leg or have his head popped off like a watermelon.
Shotguns have more range/accuracy than what most games show. They nerf shotguns in games for balancing purposes usually
I can confirm. I can regularly take deer at 150-200 with my 870 and slugs.

No wonder it killed so many friendlies.
the A-10 fires 30 mm bullets at around 2100 - 4200 rounds per min
You should definitely do reactions to gun channels, a lot of them use the ballistics gel torsos. And yea, people don't get thrown by bullets, but the force that a 50 bmg delivers, if distributed evenly across a person's body, would absolutely throw you across a room lmao
yeh man that A-10 Thunderbolt ll sounds amazing dude, especially for those naughty iran dudes that face the A-10 in the face xdd
3,000 rounds per minute on that BRRRRRT gun btw. Those rounds are about the size of Red Bull cans. Or small wine bottles.
The T-rex is actually the Tek Rex from ARK Survival Evolved
Badger mostly does war games, but he DID do a little something on Fallout New Vegas...

Hi welcome to insurgency kitchen and today we're going to be making a ceiling spaghetti with a 4 bore.
The funniest thing is that the same company that makes the Gatling gun on an A10 warthog is literally the same company that makes washing machines 😂
Gauge measures how many pellets it takes to make a pound, so twelve gauge twelve pellets weigh a pound, and six gauge six pellets weigh a pound.
Thank you for therussianbadger reaction video
Yes it is called the EV-8 AVENGER
observ is needed to radio in. so i often play observer as the BODYGUARD to commander. because without commander. no air strafe.
That sniper is meant for stopping cars, not people. Maybe you won’t flip but you’re never finding that piece of you again
14:39 your thinking of a Winchester model 1887 lever action shotgun
Yea that’s it! 🙏🏽
im very sensitive to taste so bang and any powder drinks is just not drinkable, im just 2 used 2 sugar and the sweeteners are worse than consuming normal sugar. i can always taste the bland after you get the flavour then you catch that hint that puts it off.

King Von - Took Her To The O
@brandon hererra is a good RUclipsr to get into to know more about guns
This game has dismemberment too, shame Badger turned it off due to Twitch being Twitch and fear of demonetisation on RUclips. So if dismemberment is turned on and some poor sod gets shot with a .50 cal or a shotgun, not only will he ragdoll, he will also lose his arm, leg or have his head popped off like a watermelon.
Kentucky Ballistics, he's the guy you're looking for for testing out guns on dummies and stuff, also check out TAOFLEDERMAUS for 12 gauge creativity
do you not have the shazam chrome extension?
I just rely on you guys, my community, to help me out haha.
Yeah the physics are a bit off but that’s probably more because if you got hit with a 50 BMG point blank in real life would vaporize your chest
You should see his Batman & Spider-Man videos
I hope you watch the L4D2 video of his next, its a great game and a great video as well
