I was testing my new Insta360 Go 2 mount (which STILL doesn't fix the jello!) and lost signal while flying near the canal. I fly through this spot low like that all the time and I've never lost signal before. Unnnghghghghhg. So when I pulled it out of the water it looked like either the FC or Vista was smoking. Something in there was sizzling good. I tossed it in some iso acohol 90% and am letting it soak for a minute. Hopefully it's not completely dead.
Smoking is not a good sign. Flooding with iso alcohol is a good idea but it's not to soak-- it's to push the water and grit out and dry faster. The Vista has a little bit of conformal protection, the FC also, but all the soldered connections around the ESC are a risky spot. It wasn't salt water, which is a plus.

You asked for that one. Lol. While back I hit mud, dunked and shook underwater, dried it in sun, that afternoon I was flying again, everything worked! Hope you were just as lucky
Craaaap! Welcome to the club! 😲 might just be Vista! Mine was in overnight, so mine is toast. (Although the rx, vtx and gps are still working) I lost the motors, cameras and esc on mine (maybe the flight controller too)
Waaaaoooowww!!! That suuucks man, just happened with my lumenier QAV-R. I basically took it apart and blew off all the water with compressed air. After that took a toothbrush with alcohol to clean it off and hopefully evaporate any water then let it sit for about 3 days. Only thing that fried on mine was the flight controller 😒. Yeap, ever since I desynced over an open field I stopped flying over water. Hope all is well 🙏🏾
Man I hate to hear this. What reciever were you using so I dont buy that one. Lol All jokes aside use conformal coating. It would have made a difference. Not sure how much , I've never submerged mine before.🤪 Keep Flying better
Ah man, what a bummer. That's going to need alot of rice. Hopefully you get it all sorted buddy. Merry Christmas! Edit: today I learned rice is not good when it comes to motors. Good to see there's a bunch of smart people over here helping you out.
Damn. When I submerge my quads I haul ass to unplug it and then set it in front of a fan for 24 hours. All the times I've done that and it bounced right back. I've also heard that unplugging it while it's still suberged may help avoid shorts especially in salt water. A good fan works great though. Just make sure it's out of any tight enclosed spaces and cavities like between and around the board(s) that make up your stack.
@@ridethesky3259 Man that really blows. I should add that every time one of my quads has taken a plunge I was nearby and was able to get to it quickly for an unplug. I never experienced any bubbling from the electronics while it was submerged.
Use a smoke stopper when you try plugging it back in, I would recommend disconnecting the vtx and checking the positive and negative on the fc for continuity. If you need help with it hit me up.
With the nazgul 5 v2 they didn’t do a great job conformal coating the internals geprc and hobby wing do a great job IMHO with protecting there electronics and piliots! Also I’ve gotten by with just using silicon spray from the harwmdwear store I spray everything mucho and let it dry and wala waterproof ish electrionics on the low low but all of this Has to be done prior to the water experience! I completely ruined my nazgul5 v2 the first day I got it crashing into a puddle :( devastating to say the least! I’m having a hard time going from micro 3 inch to full-size 5 inch!!!
Thinking about buying this drone, Curious...do you use the dji controller for it and what's your thoughts on range? Debating if the dji controller will be okay range wise or to get the Nazgul with crossfire and buy a different controller for better range.
Sometimes the range will go way out there.... I've had it 4.5km away before and it was awesome. This time it lost signal less than 100m away. Weird because it was much farther away and behind more in the same flight.
Lots of pure alcohol is always a good start to remove any water aiding the pcb from being rusted up then conformal coating the next time if the alcohol don't do the trick , good look, ? Cjthedj

@Hakerz A I wish people would stop suggesting rice or dessicant anywhere near motors. It's not helpful.
@@ed_halley what would be a better solution ?

Sorry for your loss my friend. If its any consolation I’ve been there.

😱 I didn’t read the title and was abruptly surprised by the ending!! Hope it’s salvageable!
Thought you were gonna skip right off the embankment. Sick run though.

Yeah I put it in some iso alcohol and it's urgently drying for the next few days... fingers crossed I didn't lose all the components haha

I wondered about unplugging it while still submerged... if I get in this situation again I'll try it. As for the dry out... it was a no go :(

Bummer. Keep us posted as to how it turns out.
Leave in dry spot and do not turn on for 2-3 days

Thats Life Bro, sorry
Any updates on the quad?
Oh it was totally fried. I could probably Salvage the motors, but I think that's about it.
