I didn't know you could use high temperatures when ironing silk and it will no doubt be something useful in my future when having to iron kimonos :D Maybe the reason why in western irons they tell you to use low temperatures is that real 100%silk is very rare and most of the times it is just some silk poliester blend? Just a theory :/
Hi Billy, you are my only youtube subscription, I don't want to miss any of them. I have resisted making an account, but you have won me over with your most excellent videos. Thank you for all your carefulness and encouragement with such beautiful and challenging things.
When you pulled up the ruler, I first thought it was in inch scale! It didn't even occur to me that there would obviously be a unit of measure that predated metric!
Billy you are the best! I love the joy you bring to everything you do. And I hope we'll get more sewing tutorials from you, even if it's only your hobby. ❤
Rewatching so many of your videos as my passion for my kimono project has recently been really revitalised. I wish I could find somewhere to buy a hera dai that ships to Europe as they look so useful! (Also so much more convenient than having to get a whole ironing board out whenever anything needs pressing)
I know that there are sewing tables that a have a table top that’s like a hera dai. But yes, I can only recommend to have a hera dai or something similar. It’s too convenient!
Thank you so much for your video! Not even a sewing school where I live. I own a few bolts of fabric for yukata and kimono so I am looking forward to more videos! Stay safe!
Thank you for another great video! I always thought that silk breaks when you iron it too hot. It´s also pretty sad that a lot of traditional stuff just goes out of production but I think that happens in europe too. But it´s still super sad. I´m looking forward to your sewing tutorials. Especially in this time it´s nice to watch you friendly spirited videos.
I have a silk kimono that I was just steaming it because I was afraid of ruining it! It got really wrinkly after the last bon dance I went to, good to know I can use a really hot setting before I store it away 😁
Hi, just Discovered your channel and clearly it is all very interesting 🤗 Did you make a tutorial of your self made pin cushion? IT IS LOVELY! I saw some from cohana style but so expensive 😓 I also think maison sajou made some more affordable ones but would love to also make mine 😅. Thanks for your beautiful videos!
I would like to buy marumi, but I cannot find them even on amazon! Would you be interested in selling a few of these things to us Westerners? I am an art quilter, and love your channel (I'm also a fan of Bernadette Banner, etc.). Anyone who shows, through their actions, that tiny details are important, and makes the world a little more beautiful in any way is definitely worth listening to in my book! You definitely qualify!

Anna Meléndez you’re theory makes so much sense!!! That could be one possibility for sure 😊

We have thread that's sorta like that made out of cotton and polyester called embroidery floss that we use for cross stitch. It reminds me of that.
Oh wow, I'm Inuit and we do unshin too but we use a different name that's so cool.
We call it omaiyaq or okiyaq depending on the region
Also, I love sewing on my dining room table because people (husband included) are around 😉
Nariasan yeaaah, more things we have in common ❤️
I love your channel! I've been subscribed and watching for a while now. It's unique and so informative. Thank you :)
So cool! I think the ruler was the most interesting for me. I love the board, too!
