    Sir why consider depth only along x axis? I'm not a civil engineer please explain in english sir.

      Answer to your question : when we see the section of installed batten from top ( Plan view) then X- asis becomes major axis & Y- axis minor .
      As we are looking for maximum load resisting capacity of Shuttering structure while doing concrete work , so we need to look for how we can get more stiffness .
      This shall be ensured when we calculate moment of inertia along X- asis as depth is more in this case
