- Hello All,
This was a video we had produced last year for USS The Sullivans that we were going to release later this year, while the work was continuing on her hull.
We're releasing it here, so we can spread the word.
We hope you enjoy the film!
Thank you again for all your support!

We need to keep there memory alive. Rip brave men always remember the fallen.
Always remember the fallen! Thank you!
the Granddaughter Kelly Sullivan Loughren has more than admirably picked up the torch
Absolutely!
They did not give up. We don't either.
For that one guy who commented on an earlier video that The Sullivans should just be scrapped, this is why people are working to save the ship. We need to remember those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice and preserve pieces of our history as a nation, not throw it in the trash.
Except these are enormous artifacts - with huge ongoing maintenance requirements. And the painful truth (when you look at museum ships around the country) is that Americans are not coming up with the money to do that. Look at how desperate things got for USS Texas. And the North Carolina wasn't far behind either. And sadly the condition of The Sullivans was known to be desperate. The only people surprised by the sinking are those who weren't paying attention (or funding).
Now? Not only does this ship have all the deferred maintenance problems it had before the recent sinking - it has additional damage associated with flooding.
It's one thing to say that these artifacts should be saved. And many of us think they should. But if the people aren't going to pay to maintain them in a respectful state of repair? Don't blame the guy who says maybe it's time to give up. Blame the people and layers of government who didn't come through with the money when it could have mattered.
Very poignant and true comment Robert Staples
@@jamesmason2228I agree with your points, but here’s the thing: the entire reason politicians don’t want to pay for this stuff is because some loud-mouthed constituents don’t believe it’s worth it. It’s a cycle.
May your seas be calm, and the wind always at your back. Godspeed Shipmates!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the boys and all those who served aboard USS Juneau!
My dad told me this story when I was 7 or 8. He was navy Korea. Crushing story. I hold this at heart a lot and I remember.
Stunning. Extremely moving recap of The Sullivans and her names sake. Well done sirs. Well done. Thank you and blessings from Kansas~
Glad you liked it. We are getting similar one's made for Little Rock and Croaker...thanks, Steve!

She must be saved, not only for their family, but all the Gold ⭐ families from WWII. My family was lucky and Blessed by God we had P.O.Ws but they came home safe. Some fought in the Pacific. Others fought in Europe and Africa. Some fought from D Day to V.E. Day. We were very fortunate and Blessed. That is the only way to put it...
Thanks for sharing, Kirk! We are working our best to keep her telling her story for another 80 years. Thank you!
@@BuffaloNavalPark I will buy a hat and a donation on Wednesday, as much as I can afford. The Sullivans is a living symbol of the sacrifices of many families, those who fought and especially those who died and even more so those that never came home
@@kirkmorrison6131 Thank you for your continued support! The Sullivan family is the first to say that this ship represents not only the five boys, but every family that is a Gold Star Family. We must continue to tell the story. Every donation, purchase helps, and your contribution will be a part of that story! Thank you!
@@BuffaloNavalPark thank you my Uncles saw real combat a lot of it. I didn't know one of my Uncles. Until he told me a year or two before he passed, that he had been in The Battle of The Bulge.
I have seen the movie about the Boys many times, I watch it and Tora Tora Tora every Memorial Day. DD 537 is a special vessel and near and dear to my heart, you are most welcome and I will try to send more next month.
@@kirkmorrison6131 We can't do it without people like you - passionate, interested, vested. Thank you!
I've mentioned this on Shane Stephenson's update videos: We lost 7 Sullivans that day. Tom and Alleta Sullivan were never the same after losing their sons and never "came home" either.
Thanks for stating, Ruby. There is an article by Alleta in "The American" Magazine published in March, 1944 where she gives a glimpse of the struggle that the family experienced! It should be required reading for anyone interested!
Ruby how could their parents be the same their kids were killed grief lasts forever
Beautifully done, majestically told hauntingly remembered, the story of the USS JUNEAU, and the five Sullivan Brothers. John Slaughter remembered correctly about George, as was told to me by Kelly Sullivan herself. I will continue to do my part and continue to contribute to the saving effort of the USS THE SULLIVANS, and hope our good people of Buffalo will help in the effort to save our treasure and part of history we are honored to have here.
Thanks for sharing and for your comments. George didn't want to survive without his brothers.
Thanks for making emotional.
Yes, I can't watch with getting misty-eyed! Thanks Geoff!!
As a videographer, this was great. Excellent work!
Thanks 30 and Hating It! Glad you enjoyed it from your professional perspective!
Very well presented.
Glad you enjoyed!

USS The Sullivans
Very stirring. If I remember correctly, George survived the sinking. He was on a raft, but giving in to his thirst, he began drinking sea water and became delusional. He then dived down saying there was fresh water just a few feet down. He didn't come back up.
We should also remember that 23 sets of brothers were lost on USS Arizona - www.nps.gov/perl/learn/historyculture/brothersassignedarizona.htm#:~:text=Brothers%20on%20the%20USS%20Arizona,Arizona%2C%2023%20sets%20were%20lost.
John, thanks for sharing. There were also the two Rogers brothers onboard Juneau - there were four, but on 8 Nov. (five days before she sank) the Navy went to both sets of brothers again asking them to split. Two Rogers brothers did, and survived the war. Two stayed and didn't. Also onboard were two sailors from Buffalo - Jerry Reilly and Edmund Mozgawa.
He was torn apart by three sharks
