- JHS continues to keep making music fun! For $99 this is a ridiculous value. Having owned a real Klon Centaur I can tell you this thing is spot on and I am a little freaked out and 100% relieved I sold mine back in 2015 for a profit that helped me buy a dream guitar! I no longer have sellers remorse and will be sleeping like a baby tonight... a baby that could easily build this pedal.

This proves a HUGE point Josh is trying to make - a circuit is a circuit. There is no magic sauce. There are no secret angels making something sound more better. Specs is specs. $99 or $2000. It makes zero sonic difference.
People want to justify their purchases and don't want to be called a sucker when they really are

I saw a video of a dude A/B'ing this w/ his real centaur. You literally could not have a difference. Plus the whole assemble it concept is genius. I ordered one immediately.

We can but hope we get them over in Europe. Having had to recently pay 30% of the price again in custom fees, I am loathed to buy from the US again (though the lightspeed was worth it)

Fantastic video, Mark. Three great chapters. Superb fun idea by JHS, beautifully executed (interesting that IKEA lawyers didn’t get grumpy - I haven’t watched Josh’s video but perhaps he mentions it there). Pedal itself sounds average at best, but then I’m not a massive Klon fan to start with, despite owning one. Love your work mate.

And if you mean "some assembly required" then you obviously have zero real world experience because thousands upon thousands of companies sell stuff with assembly required. You can't sue someone because they copied your idea of requiring customers to put it together 🤣

There is NOTHING IKEA about that pedal and the only reason it's even talked about is because this entire community is nothing but an echo chamber or a cage full of parrots, all parroting the same thing they heard about the ikea reference over and over. I thought I got in fairly quickly to buy one, but my order is #13,946, so it won't ship until probably February lol

2 other channels compared this side by side.. and it is identical except for the mod switch. This is so good I want 2 or 3? at least 2 because I want to give this to a friend for a Christmas if I can get it by then.

Jhs is a perfect example of a company who builds medium quality products with super good marketing, there are tons of products that can do the same thing.
Also quality of parts does matter but at that point you are splitting hairs

Absolutely cracking overall sound...it would have been nice to hear through a completely clean amp though. That's how I want to hear effect pedals firstly always with nothing to hide behind, just the sound from the pedal before anyone begins demoing other effects etc...
Honestly for an extra $50 you can buy the Tumnus. It's not that great of a deal.
I ordered mine one hour after announcement. The first lot of 3,000 sold out instantly...I have no idea when they will ship mine.

@@markhopkinsmusic yes, amazing. I think the whole idea of the pedal where the end user assembles it is a fantastic idea. 1) people will enjoy it, 2) I suspect it cuts out the largest cost of producing a pedal.
Proves totally that guitarists (and I count myself in this too) are idiots, and that so much hearing is done with the eyes. Perfect tone, like Narnia, does not exist and yet so many people swear it does and spend dumb amounts of money trying to have it. "Tone is in your fingers, son", BB King once said. Amen to that. Well done JHS for holding a mirror up to idiots.
I really like the idea of this pedal and it sounds great, but people have to remember there f#$k all warranty with this compared to other pedals

Be sure your grounded (not shuffling any rugs.as it may screw up the circuit.
There is no magic $4000 circuit. Especially a Klon which can be mimicked by literally hundreds of other pedals.
Took 6 months but it arrived on my birthday. Glad to have a Klon circuit at 99 and laugh every time I think about what people pay for the ‘real’ thing. It stacks well with my tumnus deluxe.

If the klon thing is your thing then great get one! But the klon is not for everybody which is why so many dont use them because there are other things, dont get caught up in the hype because it's cheap does'nt make it worth having..

Isnt a Klon you have to build yourself, really just a Con? A fantastic marketing exercise though so top marks to Josh and JHS.
