James Brown was born in 1933. He was 31 when the T.A.M.I. show was filmed in 1964. One of the snippets showing him doing the splits is from the concert he performed in 1974 in Kinshasa, DRC as part of the promotion for the George Foreman vs. Muhammad Ali boxing match known as The Rumble in the Jungle. That's when he was 41. I don't know for certain, but as a guess, I'd say he kept doing that splits move into his fifties, but fewer times each show.

This is the kind of music I grew up with. It is nice to see a young person reacting to not only James Brown, but this particular song. Not very many reactors react to James Brown even though he was the Godfather of soul.

70's James Brown is ridiculously funky. This was also Prince's favorite James Brown era. When you listen to some of Prince's funk joints or his live jams he bringing that HEAVY mustache era of JB.....The Godfather of Soul!

I have creepy crawls in my drawers (Can't find anything to rhyme with that) This was the cut back in the day! Thanks for getting back to some good old soul music.

He was about 54 or 56 years old still going down for the splits. Full Force said he did splits for them during the "I'm Real" project

The “consummate performer.” Every time that I see him perform I can see influence on MJ(also Prince & others).. here we go vibing. This song like so many JB songs have been sampled so much in hip-hop. Just off of the sampling of his music alone, JB should have been rich and still making $$ for his estate.🔥🔥🔥

Yeah to know that he lost 5 fortunes and then when sampling came about he didn’t eat off his work like he should

I saw this title and I had to laugh because back in day our families would get together and the biggest show of the night was what kid could improve the song. Back then they waited with excitement because I used to kill it with James Brown 😂. Can you see the Prince & Michael Jackson influence.

***JAMES BROWN "GODFADDA" TRIVIA TIME!!** ....ants, bugs...whatever, it's FUNKAY...(2:08) .. ...I really don't want to give trivia on JB much, because he has 16,982,507 hits...but, this One is a VERY important One... (cont.)
    - ... this was a 'single only' release at the time, because James was knocking out SO much material ...he 'rush released' this, because his VERY FIRST 'duet' w/ Lyn Collins "What My Baby Needs Now Is A Little Lovin'", bombed at #17 R&B, breaking a streak of FIFTEEN Top Ten R&B hits (March 1970- December 1972)....
    - ...and, a new sound called *DISCO* , was becoming popular, and JB wanted to give a 'dance' track, instead of the 'Urban' material he was producing...It got him another hit, peaking at #4 R&B (Feb., 1973) ...
    - ...THEN, he entered his "Blaxploitation" era, making Music for (Black) Movies; then; He was VERY jealous of the success Isaac Hayes & Curtis Mayfield were having with THEIR Soundtrack Music, but JB's went on to more 'Cult' status, except 1974's "the Payback", his biggest selling album, EVER.....
    - ...BUT! ....As expected, this tune was sampled MANY a time, notably by Brian McKnight ("You Should Be Mine"), EnVouge, and Public Enemy...... (5:14)...
