The song of Achilles copies are so beautiful T^T I bet they are really expensive. Living in a third world, 'developing' country and being a reader who wants to collect favourite books and supports authors is such a difficult thing to do.
I love these book shopping vlogs + hauls sooooo much, they are kind of therapeutic for some reason, thank you Joel!!!
thank you so much!
The Jane Austen fan in me wants to go to bath so badly, thank you sm for letting us shop for books vicariously by vlog 🙏
Been to Bath recently, can confirm that the bookshops are incredible - especially Topping & Co and Mr B’s Emporium
As a Dutchie I had no idea that Bath is an actual place so I was so confused for like half the video hahaha. But the place looks beautiful, thank you for also filming the streets etc. to give people like me a better look!
Saving all these videos in case I get to travel to the UK one day and visit all the bookstores!
omg i need to make more just so you have more places to visit then!
I lived in Bath for 3 years, and it truly is wonderful place to call home. The days I spent browsing the bookshops and finding a beautiful spot to sit and read for the afternoon were so special, I miss it so much! Topping & Co was literally the place I fell back in love with reading! It’s MAGICAL at Christmas too! Can’t wait to go back and visit.
I lived there for 3 years too and this video made me so nostalgic - was also just thinking about how magical it is at Christmas time! Ah, miss it.
time management is watching joel’s video right before the livestream 😌
you know that’s right 😌
@olivia Sommers so truuuue
I live so close to Bath and my girlfriend and I always go bookshopping here when we want to get out of the city! We've been to all these bookshops countless times so it's so nice to see them in such a cosy vlog!
I’ll watch once I can submit my paper before 10pm est today. Rip to my brain😂
dslvjdlfijs rip bestie
@@fictionalfates thanks😂
what i would give to have this many bookstores in my country! you waving at the books you like is a mood. that's me at the stores haha
this is literally the best bookstore(s) vlog I've ever seen. If I could watch this on replay 24/7, i would! kudos!
I used to live in Bath for uni and haven't been back in years, so this vlog made me feel so nostalgic and almost homesick! It's made me decide to commit to making a trip there once a year if possible, to revisit some of my favourite haunts and also hopefully meet up with some of my best uni friends. You're right that Bath is great for interesting book shops (though somehow I still ended up spending most of my book-browsing time in Waterstones...oops) - I'd completely forgotten about the antique bookshop, and that Toppings location definitely wasn't around when I lived there, it used to be tiny!
Re maybe living there yourself, it's a lovely and beautiful city to live in, but some things you might want to consider are that there's not much of a queer scene there, it is quite small so might not be for you if bigger cities are more likely to cater to your needs, and it definitely feels like it's mostly students, families and older people living there, so I'm not sure what it'd be like as a 20/30-something professional, y'know? Also, lots of Tories there.... It does have a great atmosphere, though, I loved wandering around through the cobbled streets and gorgeous architecture every day. And if you're happy living in a smaller city but want access to a bigger one with an a+ queer scene, then Bristol (where I lived afterwards and also loved, though totally different vibe) is just a ten min train ride away! And London about 1 hour 45 mins away, so not too far.
It's amazing how just like casually looking at some of the books that you just did like a brief overview of when you were vlogging that I picked up so many good recommendations just doing a casual overview and already like 10 new books added to my TBR and I didn't even finish watching the whole video.
So happy for you Joel!!!
Great video. Made my day a wee bit cozier.♥️
i'm so glad that i helped make your day cozier!
Such a lovely video! ✨ Now I’m dying to visit Bath and all their stunning bookstores 🥺
Absolutely stunning. I'm living through you right now. I used to live there and am desperate to visit again!
Haha and yes, the UK Percy Jackson covers are definitely not the best!
eeee thank you so much! i'm desperate to visit again too! also yeah, the uk pjo covers are... yikes
I love Bath! This made me want to hop on a plane and go back 💛
eeee i'm glad!!
I love your volgs, help me with my depression and sad moments.
I have this massive dream of one day having a bookcase completely filled with penguin editions just like my 85 year old grandma has, especially the clothbound editions that are chefs kiss
Bath never been, but now on my bucket list looks so amazing..
These are the most relaxing videos🥰
I didn’t jive with the way Daisy Jones is written but the audiobook is amazing!!!
barnes & noble closes at 9pm but it could never compare to those shops 😍
Looks like I need to go bookshopping in Bath 🤣 some beautiful bookshops and honestly yes Song of Achilles is majestic
So glad you did this video! I loved my trip to Bath in 2017 and miss it (and it’s bookstores) so much.
Bath certainly has some clean looking bookstores
Hey, Joel!!! I hope you are doing well. The bookstores you visited look so beautiful and cozy. You picked some great books. Great video!!!😊😊😊
love how calming this video is!
eeee i'm so happy to hear that
yes the books were cool, but that architecture though! Bath looks beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen or heard of Bath before but now it's definitely on my list.
not me thinking 'what am I gonna do for the half hour before the livestream?' and then this coming out :))))
can't believe i ve been to bath and literally never noticed the amount of bookstores there were.
amazing vid!🤩
thank you!
I've lived in Bath my whole live and honestly we are so spoiled with bookshops. The new toppings book shop is incredible and I kind of wish I could work there oop
I live in Argentina and we barely get any international books now due to the pandemic this video is healing my book shopping crushed dreams thanks bestie!
that red velvet album on the back 🔥🔥🔥
I'm so excited to finally read Cytonic! My copy just came in!
Ah that's so exciting!!
This is my first time seeing one of your videos and I love love love your energy!!! Can't wait to watch more from you 😊
I'm so jealous you got a signed Iron Widow! Xiran Jay Zhao is so witty and wonderful with subversion, all five of my book club members loved Iron Widow (lowest rating was maybe 4.5/5 just because some of the battle scenes were sometimes difficult to picture, but that's honestly nitpicking).
Damn Joel, I wanted to go to Bath before, now I NEED to go to Bath!
Loved this vlog!! 😍😍
1. iconic music choices in this one bestie 2. edinburgh is beautiful but i actually preferred the book shopping in glasgow 👀 it has one of my all time favorite bookstores, called Voltaire & Rousseau!!!!
omg thank you so much bestie! and ooh, i could go to glasgow at some point too 👀
Loved this vlog so much!!!! I visited Bath whilst abroad a few years ago and miss it so much! I would highly recommend checking out some of the bookshops in St. Andrews. I think there are only two. But they are wonderful! One of them used to serve you tea and biscuits whilst you are reading, but not sure with covid if they stopped doing that.
Ngl the bookshops in bath was defo a factor when deciding to go to uni there
I work at Mr B’s and I’m so glad you took the time to tour our shop!!! I hope you had a lovely time in Bath and if you’re every in the area again and need a bookish tour guide hit me up ☺️
It was such a lovely experience there and I can't wait to return sometime, and I'll definitely hit you up the next time I come!
personally i dont watch this channel however I stumbled on this video, which I enjoyed, but honestly was so confused everytime Bath was mentioned. Then again I live in America and the existence of cities in another country goes over my head sometimes.
Bathtub of books in Bath... Now that's epic!
Literally!
Bath looks so beautiful!!!! And I loved this video so much, thank you!!
I'm so exited for you to read the Cosmere!! Mistborn was my introduciton to high adult fantasy, Stormlight Archive is my favourite series ever (tied with First Law), and all the other books are also exquisite.
Brandon Sanderson's Cytoverse is also great, though officially not a part of the Cosmere. Still, I highly recommend it as a YA sci fi series.
Anyways, I really hope you like it :)
I'm so excited too, I feel like this next year is going to be a big game of catch-up but will hopefully get really exciting too!
Aw I lived in Bath until last year and I only moved to Bristol but wow I miss Bath so much, the atmosphere is just different there
Not me wanting to move to Bristol next year sdfijlf tbf the commute to Bath isn't too bad! It's just finding the time
You definitely are me want to visit this city… time to plan my next trip!
This is the first video I’ve watched of yours and instantly subscribed! Love some good bookstore content.
Ahhh welcome bestie!
vibezzzzz Glad you had fun!
"Mr. B's Emporium of Reading Delights" looks like a fucking DREAM! Also, you look like a dream throughout this whole video too...who gave you the right?
The fact that you have so many copies of "The Song of Achilles" makes me wanna finally pick it up, so thanks for the motivation.
Wonderful video as always, King. You've filled me with happiness as much as you've filled your bookshelves with books (that's a lot tbh, they look like they're gonna give up any second). Love ya!
ahaha thank you so much! Mr B's Emporium was simply so epic and yep, you have no idea how much I need more bookshelves saiofjsfildjsh
im sobbing why didn't I go look at books when I went to bath TT

it shall happen at some point!!
When your chai latte is so big, it needs two handles 🤣
such nice bookstores!
That was an amazing tour!! Thank you 💕💕
Thank you so much!
Loving this video sooo much. Topping is in Edinburgh too

sldjfsdkfjdf i'm glad i could have this effect on you!
Awesome video! Bath looks amazing
Why I thought it was bath as your shower
At 2:45 one time found one in 60 shekels and it's Edgar Allan Poe poetry and I bought it later discovered it's form the 19th century
At 6:55 oh cool
Found the vanshing half in my second hand bookstore
At 11:56 want to go store, or buy more books by this company
At 22:42 it's sold out =(
Now I need to go to Bath too.
i think this video kept me from plummeting into an anxiety attack, thank you
i`m a fairly new watcher and this was recommended to me just now, but damn i love your vibes and the calm energy your videos radiate i`ll definitely stick around from now on
i hope things get better ! sending the best to you, friend!! 🤍

red velvet albummmmm :0
Uhm hello, obsessed with the Hannah necklace 👀
me too 👀
Amazing video. 😍😍
I'm ashamed to say that despite having lived in Bath for over 3 years, the only one of these shops I have visited is Waterstones. I'm saving this video so that I can do a book tour before I move out of Bath this summer!
Oop, you should totally do that!!
Oxford!!!!
oh yes!!! definitely need to go to oxford at some point 😌
I saw 280 and I was like it's not much. Than I realized it's not rupees.
doisucfsoifjofi not that
بختك انا لي قريب السنة ما اشتريت لي كتاب فلس شديد مطلع عيني
Such gorgeous bookstores. This makes me want to go book-shopping but I’m broke af. 🥲
