    Very informative about the synergy between B vitamins and omega 3 oils. I think this talk is a must for anyone serious about their health.

    Should we not consider the prevalence of proton pump inhibitor prescriptions and the use of over-the-counter antacids in malabsorption of B vitamins? Binding of vitamin B12 by human gastric juice increases with higher PH levels. We should also be concentrating on fasting insulin levels and NOT HBA1C, by the time HBA1C is out of whack decades of vascular damage has already occurred.

      Definitely, they are prescribed widely now and people are not aware (and not told) of the risks to bone density and essential nutrient absorption.

      I concur about PPI's. Acid reflux resolves for 99% of patients by eliminating seed oils and highly processed foods, including sugar. It is far easier to treat the cause of GERD or acid reflux than to take an OTC drug which will lower the acidity of the stomach, impair nutrient uptake, and encourage the overgrowth of microbes like H Pylori.
      HBA1C is an indicator of the number of red blood cells that have been impacted by exposure to sugar in the blood. The average red blood cell has a "lifespan" of 120 days. So, HBA1C is a measure of the last 120 days only, and it is an average mean number. It gives zero insight into how frequent, how high, or how prolonged any of these particular blood sugar spikes might have been.
      A fasting insulin level alone can give a false indication to a pre-diabetic and even a diabetic. This is not a definitive indicator by itself.
      If one has a family history of T2D, then they may want to consider a Craft test (you can get a home test kit), or trying out a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) for 2 weeks, to gather difinitive information about how their body responds to exercise, sleep, and diet in detail. This kind of information can certainly be gathered by using an old fashioned glucometer with a notebook and discipline.
      Public and MD awareness of the obvious symptoms of T2D are very powerful in diagnosis. It just takes some time and care to ask the right questions. Unfortunately, many MD's still engage in derrogation of obese patients, and they just won't be bothered to take this level of care with them.
      The red flag symptoms are an insatiable thirst, wounds that are slow to heal, frequent urination (having to get up to go to the bathroom at night in particular), a "sweet tooth", and episodes of hypoglycemia (getting hangry with brain fog and emotional volatility), sweat or breath that smells fruity or sweet. Fat around the middle section is an indication of metabolic disorder, hormonal dysruption or both. Most people will live an optimal lifespan if their girth is no more than1/2 of their height. This is a far more important ratio than weight, and more indicative than bmi.

      I take Lanzoprozole and had a massive decline in cognitive function. But if I don’t take it I suffer !! It’s hard to know what to do. 😢

      @@stevenhurrell907 Depends if you've got hiatal hernia or not. Try apple cider vinegar 2tbl spoons in a glass of water. Or try Betaine HCL tablets in high strength (google this as you need to know what youre doing). Increasing stomach acidity forces the LES to close. PPI's adversely mask the problem.

    Outstanding work! As a geriatric psychiatrist and neuroscience researcher, I can strongly endorse everything Dr. Holford said. Dementia is preventable and even partially reversible, but conventional medicine has it all wrong.

      Does conventional medicine know the truth?
      But yet, allows the wrong diagnosis to be proplonged!!!
      Sickness is a Busine$$.
      I live in Australia...we are told within 30/40 years...50% of the population will have cancer.
      Also regarding, Dementia...nursing homes and dementia seem to be the norm as many get older.
      Something is terribly wrong.
      I come from listening and reading that "Carbohydrates/seed oils" are detrimental to ongoing good health, also animal fats and beef are very good for us.
      But yet we are told differently!
      Kindness.

    The big thing that has increased is ultra processed food and glucose fructose in everything. This is toxic to the brain and also causing non alcoholic fatty liver.
    disease.
    Research in Europe is emerging that is pointing in this direction.
    It is not all about Vit B… but taking that helps.
    All of this ‘non food’ in our food chain is taking its toll.

      100%. Avoid seed oils. Stick to avo, coconut, butter. Eat your saturated fat. Keep your cholesterol up. Eat real food.

      And be prepared to fight with your doctor. I'm preparing a list of links to studies I will give my cardiologist. He and my primary think statins are the greatest thing since penicillin.

    Thank you for your valuable work. I have worked with a number of people who suffered with various types of cognitive impairments. It’s so distressing to witness the cognitive decline of so many people.

      @@barbm7825 , one of the top drugs prescribed to people over 50 and dementia/alzheimers is one of the most common diseases in seniors.

      Statins are a known risk factor for cognitive impairment. Esp Atorvastatin, which more readily crosses the blood brain barrier. In any case, industry studies show you only live about 4 days longer if you take a statin for 10 years. Why doctors prescribe them is baffling (but we know why, don't we?)

      The brain contains the highest level of cholesterol in the body; it contains approximately 20% of whole body cholesterol [34].
      If you take statins, it has to have an effect on the brain.

    How did tribes living in deserts, far away from any sources of sea food survive? Always wondered... Sea food and fish are now loaded with mercury and plastics, is it still ok to consume big quantities as you seem to advise?

    So for a reasonable dosage, do I understand that for B complex, it's the following?
    Folate 800μg
    B12 500μg
    B6 20 mg
    B2 10 mg
    By the way, intake of omega 3 with high quantities of omega 6 (typically with vegetable oil consumption) will be poor because any omega 3 intake will be swamped by all the omega 6 since the body does not distinguish between the two when it comes to absorption.

    I have been on a PPI for 20 years and have low b12 despite taking a supplement but its at the bottom of the recommended range. My intrinsic factor test was less than 1. GP will not do any further investigations. My MCV & MCH have always been out of range above the top limit for the last 15 years but again GP said its fine, not sure where to go from here. Also which is a more important test B12 or B12 Active?

    Wouldn't it be better to eat Algal oil rather than fish oil? Then you can skip the accumulated mercury, it is where fish get it from after all.

    Everytime I hear about Alzheimer I get very mad. They talk about Omega 3, but they never think about the people who have sea food intolerance. Now what can we do or take to mitigate the loss of Omega 3 and so on. Nowbody ever talks about it 😢
