Patsy was so very talented. Wonder where her career would have taken her had she not died in a plane crash at 30 years old.

You hit the nail on the head with Patsy. Such amazing control of her instrument. What might have been seen as imperfections she works them and makes them brilliant.

Patsy had what they called "the cry" in her voice. She was such a loss to music lovers everywhere, but I'm thankful we have as much of her work as we do, especially the live performances captured on early radio & tv. I'd love to see some of her lesser known songs get more exposure, like Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray or A Poor Man's Roses (or A Rich Man's Gold). Even her lighter songs were fun to listen to, but the really good ones are timeless and still moving.

You know Biz, you get it!! The vulnerability in her voice is the bet description of her voice I have come across. How she approaches a piece of music then conveys same. There are alot of female voices I like and constantly listen too and Patsy Cline's is one of those.

Give a listen to Leann Rimes, "Blue". This song was written for Patsy, just before the plane crash. The song writer sat on this song for over 30 years, until he heard 13 year old Leann. If you give a listen and close your eyes, you can hear Patsy.

Patsy Cline felt every song she sang. You can hear the cry in her voice. Many times she was really crying as she sang. You can hear it in, "She's got you." But the song that kills me the most is her cover of "Faded Love." By the end of the song Patsy is barely holding it together & she's breaking our hearts. I don't know how she can sing & cry at the same time! There is no live versions of her singing "Faded Love" cause soon after recording this song, she died in a plane crash.
How important is Patsy to Country Music???
Patsy broke down many door for female singers. Without Patsy female singers would still be called "the girl singer in the band." She was best friends with Loretta Lynn & helped her out in her singing career & life. Patsy didn't need a male singer to star & close the show. Patsy was the star & closed the show. She is considered one of the greatest female Country singers of all time. IMO one of the greatest singers period.
    There are 5 women in Country Music that opened/ broke the door down for other Country female singers;
    1. Kitty Wells
    2. Patsy Cline
    3. Loretta Lynn
    4. Dolly Parton
    5. Tammy
    Wynette
Many others may disagree with me. But like l said this is my opinion.
One fact remains, Patsy Cline is the standard that female Country singers have to measure up to. Too bad we didn't have her longer. Who knows what she could have accomplished!?!
There will never be another Patsy Cline!

Written and first recorded by the vastly underrated, Big Don Gibson, this song was Don's first single release and #3 Country hit. Patsy was the third recording. Patsy's phenomenal record producer, OWEN BRADLEY, applied a little pressure to Patsy to record the song and to accept his lush versio, with the Jordanairres providing background vocals and 12 violinists taking the music to an out-of-this-world level. Floyd Cramer was on piano, Grady Martin on guitar.
Patsy DIED ONE WEEK before the finished album and single were released.
The CRY clearly heard in Patsy's voice was real. She was a very emotional, dramatic woman, who had left her husband, was probably going to leave him again, and had survived and overcome a horribly disfiguring automobile accident.

Biz, did you know that Ray Charles released a Country Album during this time? His camp told him he would ruin his career but, Country was Ray’s favorite music so, he said “I don’t care”. In 1961 - his Album produced 4 #1 hits!
Ray Charles is in the Country Music Hall of Fame

I love Patsy Cline. This song is also recorded beautifully by Elvis Costello, in Nashville by original producers . Along with other country classics. It’s truly amazing because I hated country music until I heard his entire album, “Kind of Blue”. And the George Jones classics “Stranger in the House”, and “Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down” and other beautiful renditions.
