- Are Christians facing massive persecution? Are the end times upon us? Or are we living in the most peaceful and free time in human history? Let's take a look at the claims of religious pastors and compare it to real-world data. We'll also be looking at the media's negativity bias.
Are Christians actually persecuted in America or is this persecution complex simply a delusional fantasy?

"No christian ever believes that the Bible means what it says: The christian is always convinced that it says what they mean."
~George Bernard Shaw
I had a vision about this when I was younger, long ago. I 'm not terrified because no one can stop it. If not in my life time but this will happen, the snatching away of the saints. The Bible says no one will know when Jesus will come to rapture or snatch away the saints. So any absolute date will always be a false prophecy. You can make mockery about it or not believe it but like in the days of Noah, they mocked him for a making a boat and rain was not experienced for a while. Rain finally came. I visited this ministry last year but this happened to clips came from another service of deliverance or exorcism. Either you are lying or God's Word is lying. I will stay with the Word of God and Jesus Christ! If I did not experienced this myself but I did....I still would not mock God with you. Holy Fire Holy Ghost but never Holy koolaid....Mock the Word Mock God, He still love you. But this day out of his love, God is sending you a warning. God has been giving visions to warn His creation of what is to come. You did clips on prophecy below are clips of someone God uses to real work of ministry long before you came on the scene.

@@bella6813 Well, that's the problem. "If not in my lifetime..." It's never in anybody's lifetime. There have been many widely-held beliefs in an end-times for 2000 years but it never happens. And that robs people, it distracts them from focusing and getting ahead in the real world. You stop studying and working to build up your fortunes, because you are up on a hilltop and looking up at the sky for Armageddon. It keeps failing and failing. Teens are the most fervent believers because they haven't gone through enough layers of these false predictions, the rationalization that it was fake in the specifics several times but it's still "generally true". Anybody born after 2000 will not have lived through the widespread millennialism that 2000 years after Christ's birth HAD to be the magic number. This was extensive! It was widespread, but it failed. Back in 2012, when the Myan end of the world myth was being talked about, my young daughter heard it from the other kids in school. She nervously asked me if it was true.
I told her not to worry, since the beginning of time people have predicted the end of the world and so far not one of them has been correct.
And the mayan didn't even predicted the 'end of world'. Merely the 'end of a calendar cycle'... that got blown up waaaay out of proportion. and it wasn't even a prediction, just a natural end to their calendar systems (The long calendar had like 5.125 years in it). What they could predict however was quite good: eclipses with accuracy that is only found nowadays, movement of stars and planets and things like that. They had their own mathematical system too, using base 20 and they also had the notion of Zero as a null number and they USED it too.

I was once a Christian musician. I went to a show to see D.C. Talk in Austin, during South By Southwest. The opening act was an all black blues band from New Orleans, and there was alcohol being served at bars around the venue. The Christians who were there to see DC Talk immediately complained, and eventually had the alcohol service shut down. I felt awful for the band that was there trying to play their skunky bar blues. They were wrongly booked, and at the wrong place that night. OMG. They nearly chased them out the door. Then DC Talk took the stage. Their album was hugely popular. They were jumping around and doing the whole "rock star" act. It was humiliating. I have seen some Christian rock groups who were sincere and did not get sucked into the culture. DC Talk was not one of them. As with so many young people in the Christian community, their faith was only skin deep, and mostly an act. I realized that the church I attended was so much the same. I left that church and that religion, though I had pursued it for many years. I abandoned my idea of being a contemporary Christian musician too. I began a twenty year long study of world religions and world history. I still love to play the guitar..

You don't.
You ask them if they think that it’s wrong for an authority figure to commit rape against a child. Explain how a 12 year old can’t give consent to an authority figure for sex. Explain the story of the conception of Jesus through this lense. Tell them that if they accept this story as true, that makes thier god evil. If they feel that it is not evil, stop talking to them as they feel it’s cool for an adult to force themselves on a child.
Very slowly, and only if you think they're worth your time. Most are not. If you think they're at least willing engage with you a little I recommend the socratic method, especially Street Epistemology.
As a Christian my advice is let them believe what they want. You won't convince them they are wrong because they don't see it.They see the world completely different than you.
You don't "argue for atheism", at not at first. If they bring up religion or try to force it on you just go with the flow, whatever your response it will change nothing in the same moment or hour. Many moments in many voices in many styles and moods will be required over time for deeply indoctrinated to relearn to think and to see reality around them. Street epistemology is a good start; sometimes mockery or Aran Ra shock can startle them into thinking. But a white evangelical that sees themselves as "persecuted" in the USA (perhaps because they are limited in how much they can persecute others? or by your daring to not accept their version of Christianity?) is likely years from any possibility of seeing/hearing reality.

Probably because in a lot of cases, they have been indoctrinated into thinking that they are sinners who will burn, no matter how good a life they have lived. So are afraid to meet their creator.
Or also as likely, they are listening to that tiny rational part of their brain right at the back, that part that knows how absurd all the stories about God and the afterlife are, and knows this life is all there is.
They aren’t scared of end times, they look forward to it
@Tim C so where's the incentive to live a good life or be a good person if the only criteria for salvation is belief? You are espousing the idea that you can be a horrible person but so long as you convert on your deathbed and believe, you'll get that free pass. If that's the 'divine justice' on offer, where the person who was kind and helped others but didn't believe burns while the psycho who killed people but who says "I accept Jesus Christ as my lord and saviour" right before the end gets to go to heaven all crimes forgiven, then I want no part of that system. And if that means I'm to be damned, then sign me up for Hell.
Setting aside apocalyptic thinking has allowed me to feel good about the future. If that’s wrong...well, I just don’t really want to be right.
I think mankind is ignorant and greedy enough to bring about the destruction of the planet. Science provides the evidence almost daily, that people deny, or ignore, so I don't view the future in a very positive way.
However that's an entirely different world view to the xtian "end of times" view of the future. If mankind dies out, it will probably be due to our own stupidity or an asteroid, or something similar, I don't believe it will have anything to do with a supernatural being.

They are so afraid of the "all seeing eye" and yet these grifter keeps on demanding money donations on their followers, while that symbol is on every US dollar.....
It is only on the One Dollar bill. Just refuse all of the ones.
Bingo.
The really neat thing is that it's a Christian symbol that predates the US - and the Columbian "discovery" of the Americas, for that matter. It also predates Freemasonry and the actual Illuminati. The "eye in a triangle" version represents the trinity.

This video is really great. I mean, they are usually very good, but this one is probably thé best.
This is *exactly* how I grew up, in a constant state of apocalyptic expectation, even a morbid kind of apocalyptic craving.
I was promised the apocalypse so many times, from the '70s until about 2010 or '12. And it never happened.
I am in my late '50s now and still very healthy.
I am afraid I will simply die at a very high age and probably of an age-related cancer or heart failure, while the world just goes on.
So unheroic, sigh...

The Nordic regions teach Christianity in schools to promote morals and ethics. As atheists have complained and forced them to teach less and less, well, the stats are getting worse and worse. That's why no one mentions them anymore; even Christian hater, Bernie Sanders. The Nordic regions are the empirical proof that Christianity works the best for what everyone truly wants...
@@deductivereasoning4257 ehm. No? We learn about all main religions equally. Christianity is not thought in schools any more than judaism or islam, except some of the christian holidays we still celebrate (however in a very secular way). And certainly NOT for moral reasons!! Its for understanding different cultures and our own history. Please dont spread misinformation about my country. The following is from the Swedish primary school corriculum:
"The teaching in the subject of religious studies shall aim at the students developing knowledge about religions and other views of life in their own society and elsewhere in the world. Through the teaching, students will become aware of how people in different religious traditions live with, and express, their religion and beliefs in different ways. The teaching must comprehensively shed light on the role that religions can play in society, both in peace efforts and conflicts, in order to promote social cohesion and as a reason for segregation."

You are younger back in the seventies and eighties there was more fundamental strict Christianity. Abandoning your child for being pregnant or gay was not only socially acceptable it was encouraged.
You gotta love it when evangelicals (many times even moderate Christians) say “we are in the last days!” As they have said for the last 2000 years.
"Persecution Blue Balls" has to be the name of a band, right? 😂
Or a town in Pennsylvania (😜)😷🇺🇲
When all that stuff was written, they didn't even know this half of the word existed. It wasn't meant for us at all.
That Michael Jordan clip has me on the floor laughing
I asked my cat about this, (and of course he's a servant of satan, so he would know). And he did not have an answer.
I take that as an obvious sign that the end times are upon us.
Is it Fluffles? That cat is a really trustworthy character!
Cats know everything but they don’t share information. 🙀
Cats know all this and keep their silence
As a cat lover I laughed out loud when I read your comment.
But don't be mistaken, those furballs are probably brooding on our doom (personally though, I believe that the crows will take over; I keep seeing more and more crow gatherings lately, haven't you noticed? I mean, others must have noticed this as well).
Science's explanation for cats is purrr fantasy. House cats 1st appeared around 6,000 years ago and the people considered them gifts from God because of how well they deal with pests. That's why the 10+ billion dollar pest control industry spreads so many lies about them.
How could primitive man domesticate the biggest of cats without guns? That theory is a blatant lie to deter people from looking up the real history. In areas of Africa where they don't have guns, they still live in fear of big cats.
Da Vinci, the father of the autopsy, said, "The smallest feline is a masterpiece."
I feel sick when I hear the phrase, "what would Jesus do?"
He would find some sick person and spit in his eye, of course.
Reconsider hanging out in the Middle East?
Remember, when someone says, "What would Jesus do?" Flipping over money tables, cursing fig trees, and dying isn't out of the question.
Well in Luke 11:38 he didn't wash his hands before he ate, so maybe not a great role model for this moment in history. :P
I would follow up with: screw that! What would thor do? That's a gawd of action!
So glad I found your channel!
Thank you for providing such refreshing knowledge and clarity, it feels like disinfectant for the brain.

There was a pastor (I forgot his name, but telltale covered this story) who actually got persecuted.
By Christians, for saying that Christians are not persecuted.
Parents trying to kill their children because the end time prophecies of some weirdos... The next time someone is trying to tell me Religion does no harm I'm going to get pissed. Royally pissed.
Not to mention those poor souls who waste their final years anticipating an apocalypse, donating to greedy televangelists, and throwing the last of their time into the toilet instead of making the world a better place for those who will come after them. So selfish, so miserable of an existence it makes me weep.
I thought it said she successfully killed her daughter, not attempted?
We are living in the most peaceful time but our environment is dying.
I think what he meant by "peaceful time" he meant to say how we treat each others, sadly yes the Earth is dying.
Dude! The intercuts with random footage is just priceless (Michael Jordan LOL) I love thinking then laughing. Keep it up.
My experience of “God” is large enough to contain all religions, accepting the reality of what is.

Just don't ever depend on 'god' to do anything for you. Not sure if you believe in an interventionist deity or not, but as far as the data is concerned humans are the only thing keeping humans alive. We must look out for each other, save the planet, and try to form a cohesive society built on love and understanding, rather than on hatred and demonization.
yep. since i was four.

They're so far removed from any kind of real persecution they see any criticism or even teasing as persecution. How pathetic.
Turns out, Pat Robertson died before the world did.
"Persecution blue-balls" is a fantastic metaphor. I'm always tempted to say "climb down off your cross, you're note being persecuted" to such people. And follow it up with "let me know when you're being fed to lions."
All that whining and they're not even getting taxed.
The part where the guy talked about the eye on the dollar bill being the “All-seeing eye of Lucifer” at about 1:50 downright baffled me for several reasons. Or should I say I just found it ironic.
The eye he was referring to is commonly referred to as the Eye of Providence, or the Eye of God. I can’t say I understand all the symbolism behind it, but it is painfully ironic that he’s taking a symbol generally associated with God and saying it’s a symbol of the devil.
Does he believe that God and the Devil are the same person? Because that’s what it sounds like to me. Especially when he says that Lucifer is “All-seeing”
Isn’t god supposed to be the omniscient and all-powerful one?
I just find his whole spiel hilarious for some reason.
They're saying Lucifer cheated by using that newfangled technology of surveillance satellites and all that to spy on us when he shouldn't be allowed to because if God wanted Lucifer to see everything, He would have created Lucifer with omniscience.
ruclips.net/video/yMVV_HsHcX0/видео.html
@@js8270 But God didn't create Lucifer with omniscience, so people don't want Lucifer watching them eat, sleep, make love, etc., as if he were God or Odin.
He probably just confused Satan with Sauron. A common mistake.

"...and rumours of wars." I almost choked in my food when I heart that, *LOL!*

Believers simply can't face the fact that their "god" doesn't actually exists.
Whilst I don't see the need for any god, I don't believe in any god, and I see no evidence for any god, I don't have evidence to prove there is no god or gods, so I don't discount the possibility that there is a god or gods.
What evidence do you have to prove god doesn't exist?
Any claim requires the person making that claim to provide evidence in support of it, that evidence should be peer reviewed and if it is reliable and viable evidence it is accepted as proof.
That is true for the claim of the existence of gods, but just as true for the claim that gods do not exist. Without the evidence your claim is as meaningless as a religion claiming there is a god.
If you challenge a theist and ask for evidence that proves their god exists, they can't provide it. If they challenge you and ask for evidence that gods do not exist, what can you provide?
It's the same argument with the same flaws, the only difference is the claim. It is better to ask for evidence you know can't be provided from theists, to undermine their arguments, than allow theists to undermine your arguments by asking you for evidence.
Have fun.
@@jaidee9570 "If they challenge you and ask for evidence that gods do not exist, what can you provide?"
You can provide that there's never been any solid and verifiable proof any god ever existed.

The problem that I see with “religious freedom “ is that it’s actually an oxymoron, because most religions preach non tolerance since their beginning. Because religious ideas cannot accept competition and have historically always tried to eliminate it, because God requires you to do so. The fact that different religions can now more or less coexist is not thanks to their own free will and evolution but because humanistic ideals proposed by science have prevailed against the odds. You grant them a freedom they are not willing to grant you, they have privileges that you are not allowed to have (like tax exemptions), including the privilege of calling it a prosecution, another oxymoron.
You make better content than sooooo much of what's out there. Thanks!

The more I learn about this stuff the more I look back on the hysteria I had about this "new world order" thing and how silly it all is. People killing themselves and going into bankruptcy because some rich weirdo on TV told them that the world was gonna end with no proof yet people still get suckered into this stuff. Really sad stuff I say.
Exactly
They got rich spouting this stuff and then selling "end of the world preparation juice" or whatever. Such an easy scam. L. Ron Hubbard actually said he was gonna invent a religion and get rich, but when he finally did it, people, obviously, still believed it ! smh.
It’s sad when non religious friends get suckered into this stuff :/
Love your show! You are so divinely reasonable! Almost all religions have this masochistic ascetic streak, based on the very human notion that there's no free lunch, and that we must pay for our blessings with the coin of our suffering. But what do you do when suffering isn't that easy to come by? Outside of self-flagellation, self-denial, and hair shirts, you can convince people that the world is a terrible place and they're already suffering. Works like a charm!
Very well spoken and put together!
