Thank you so much for this video! My daughter screwed up her keyboard (but fortunately, it was water she spilled) and while I’m no stranger to replacing Lenovo keyboards, Lenovo has excellent documentation on replacing components, while HP is a hot mess.
So yeah, next laptop I get will probably not be an HP, but your video definitely made my life a lot easier for the one that I’m stuck with for now!
I think I did mess up the instructions and was left with a metal bracket of some sort, but I suspect it was the support bracket for the Kensington lock slot, so I’m not too worried about that.

      It's my pleasure my friend.
I do hope you get the keyboard replaced and that laptop working again. Regarding the HP laptop, Lenovo is taking the same approach with the keyboard. But still, try to stay away from HP laptops; they break down very often. We get them all the time in the store.
Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me.
      cheers🍻

@@uFixTek Thanks, buddy, I did get everything working thanks to your excellent video. Sad to hear that Lenovo is taking the same approach, though it could be the consumer level laptops that are like this? Lenovo laptops like the T480 or the T440 were fine for replacing keyboards.

The low to mid-class models are like this, but the Lenovo T series and C series are exceptional. That is why I always recommend checking the upgradability and part replacement options for the laptop you have in mind.
      cheers🍻

Thanks for the great video. I managed to replace my keyboard as well. One nice thing is that there was an eBay seller who had the keyboard/palmrest assembly L24752-001 for about $30 delivered in the U.S. so I avoided the entire issue of cutting the plastic bits to remove the keyboard. My laptop has an AMD processor but the new cover has Intel stickers so I got a processor upgrade in the process! 🙂I also got keyboard lighting for "free" as well. Obviously, check that this part is compatible with your particular laptop.

@@uFixTek Thank you very much for your answer. I was a fool and was connecting the DC cable upside down. But I only noticed that it wasn't charging after it run out battery (it was showing that it's charging but wasn't charging) and now it doesn't start charging, because I'm assuming the li-lion battery went to sleep and so the computer can't even start - no led no nothing. Is there anything to do to recover the battery?

Do you happen to know if this model has magnets or an actuator or something that detects if the screen is closed? I changed the display on mine and now the screen is not locking when I close the lid I already check all the configuration and is still the same. is just not working anymore and is driving me crazy another note is that I did changed the little arms that have the screen hinge since the ones I had were bent.

sorry that i was away for few days, regarding your question: yes they have a tiny magnets on the plastic in the corners that activated the magnetic switch, to double check that grab a small magnet and power on the laptop and run the magnet gently around the edges of the palm rest and at one point the screen should turn off, and then you know at that point on the screen side should be a magnet.

Hey! I have a quick question regarding this exact laptop model and its keyboard. I want to deep clean the keyboard since I've had it for about 2 years now and I feel stuff stuck under the keycaps, but I am unsure if It is safe for me to remove every single one of the keycaps and clean under them? What would u recommend I do in order to clean the keyboard? I don't want to mess anything up I've been binge watching your videos to make sure all these repairs I am doing are correct!

regarding your question: PLEASE DO NOT attempt to remove the keys or anything alike you will end up damaging the keys.
i would recommend you to use a compressed air and a painters brush, and at the end use a keyboard cleaner get to pull the small stuff: amzn.to/3m3Ci6h
good compressor air to have at home to cleaning use this:
