I actually went and hunted down that image from the 'Draw Me' ad. I love it. It took a stupid amount of time to get it cleaned up after upping the dpi. Well worth it though! Thank you!
I'd also point out that some web comics artists have created whole series from PD heroes from the Golden Age. One of my favorites is "Curse of the Black Terror" on The Duck webcomics.
Incredible resource! Could you show us (perhaps on your other channel) an example or two of how to use one of these images/pages for a t-shirt or mug? Removing the background on Photoshop, etc.
You're a cool dude for sharing this. I have my own original art designs but I need some supplementary designs to add more products to my store so this really helps with my particular niche. Also, I love the music 🎶.
If I remember correctly, the birth of the meme's was PD art with snarky comments added. Most renaissance era art and Roaring 20's artwork was used to present sarcasm hot takes and come backs.
Please help - I downloaded one and I have to ask you, what are you using to view them? Or how are you downloading into a pdf as I have windows 10 - and I need to know how you are viewing them? Thank You
Yes the images are in the public domain. The only exception would be an advertisement if the company is still around (like Tootsie Roll is still in business). But the actual images from the horror comics are great on shirts, mugs, prints, etc.
For sure - you can pretty much do anything you want with these books (use them as is, sell them, make clothing, etc). The only ones that would be a bit tricky would be anything currently trademarked (like Barbie comics). The comics are public domain, but only as comics (not as clothing).
@@craftystax Yeah,in addition to making comics using public domain characters,I even want to make toys based on those same characters if the comics are successful enough.
This morning I literally wrote "Public Domain Pulp Comics" on my to-do list.

I was hoping it wasn’t just the horror genre. Glad I clicked on the video. Cool content.

I think you are bang on! Taking old pictures and updating them with modern references can be really funny!
I Almost forgot about this page Thanks for this video I can read some classic horror comics this is great 👍
I remember Harvey comics.
Zen watercooler😊
“Women in trouble”. Hysterical
Coincidentally, hysteria was once considered a female disease.
This was very interesting, thank you. Is the text also free for the public to use?
Yes the comics themselves are in the public domain so that includes the words and art. There are thousands of awesome hidden gems!
@@craftystax Thank you for letting us know.

I just view the page with Mozilla Firefox (or any web browser - Google Chrome, etc.). And then just right-click and "Save Image As". Hope that helps!
@@craftystax I'm talking saving the whole comic book from the website - it downloads but does not allow you to open comic book.
So you can right click to copy image from any of these and use commercially?

@@craftystax thank you so much for the reply and for making the video, I am in the process of downloading and editing as we speak! 😊
So, can I use pictures and words from the story to make youtube videos?
Absolutely - you can do anything you like with the pictures. They are public domain, so there are no copyright restrictions on the comic book art.
I love you sooooo much!
So I can download these images from this web site and upload on RUclips without getting any copyright?
You certainly could - the contents of the comics are public domain so there are no known copyright restrictions.
@@craftystax thanks for answering
hey man, do you think its ok to sell these on POD sites?
Yes - I personally make a lot of comic-book related designs and use this all the time.
Used a couple images for RB and instantly got flagged for review. we'll see what they have to say about it.
Yes it might be because of the tags (this has happened to me - but at least for me they have always approved it a day or two later).
Can I sell it as an ebook?
And if so is it legal
