This caique behaviour is called "surfing". They love to rub against soft things, including their humans. It is probably related to their bathing technique in the wild, where they rub against wet leaves near the top of tall trees in the Amazon Basin.
Most likely. I once watched a quick rain shower and some pigeons flew down and immediately started bathing in the grass. They even washed their wing pits. It was adorable.
If you think about doing this with your birb, consider a harness or stay vigilant because it would not be the first time someones parrot got snatched by a hawk... they are fast
I watched sparrows having a dust bath, they would sit in a small depression and flap the wings, I understand this is to handle mites, not sure it the dust provides relief from itchy mites or if the dust kills them. I mite be wrong.
@@g.v.m7935 that didn’t answer the question. Yes the birds wings are clipped sadly. yea they are short distance flyers that doesn’t give the excuse to clip as this can cause spinal issues. My best example is “dolphin tale” anyone remember when his spine was getting messed up because he was swimming the incorrect way. Same thing with birds and usual muscle atrophy as well since they fly less often knowing they can’t control their flight. I’ve also seen it in a few larger birds to break confidence and cause aggressive behavior or lack of playful behavior that owners usually buy birds for as they see videos like this and then don’t understand why that bird is “better”
@Hello I just told something about Caiques nothing about clipping. Mine arent clipped. I'm not the owner so you shouldnt ask me. And my point is Caiques dont always fly because its just the way they play and do. So the bird might or might not be clipped.
@@catpoke9557 I see, but that wasnt my point. My Caiques are not clipped and also have this behaviour, its pretty typical for the species. So to be clear, I dont support clipping. Mine have learned to fly in a controlled way indoors and outdoors, so they have a chance to save themselves in certain situations. Also I learned them outside, the floor is lava inside the house is fine.

@@dr.tamaraworley8451 Get a new bird! If you want suggestions, I have owned birds since I was 13 yrs old. I have had many breeds. I have 3 diffrent breeds now.
It probably can't fly because the owner clipped the wings. (No, clipping wings is not cruelty, they probably did that to make the bird easier to train and avoid any circumstances where it could fly and get hurt or lost. It's mostly for protection.)
With Caiques, it’s hard to tell if they actually have a problem or if they’re just being silly as usual. But even if the parrot got its wings clipped, it wouldn’t affect it too much as Caiques usually prefer walking, hopping and climbing over actual flying.
oh my god that short short wing clip breaks my heart 😥 Clipped birds can still fly away with a slight breeze, and worse they can't control their flight and don't know how to get back from wherever they land. Give your bird their wings and teach them to fly well indoors, in a safe learning environment. That way, when they do accidentally get out, they know how to come back. Clipped wings can lead to muscle atrophy and a broken keelbone (chest bone) because the same muscles that allow flight protect it. CLIPPING IS NEVER WORTH IT! Don't force your bird to use only two limbs because you don't know how to bird-proof your home and keep it safe. If you want to bring them outside, use a carrier or safe harness.
This is when we first got her. She was clipped from the breeder. She's not clipped anymore. We have lost a bird before that was not clipped ,but we are very careful now.

It was dry, but this behavior is how they bathe in the wild. They roll around on any wet surfaces.

Caiques walk pretty often especially in big open areas.
They are climbers and glide from tree to tree long flights is hard for them.
