    Yeah, how did they get the copper and insulation to separate? The narrator really doesn't talk about that. For some reason. Just repetitive music.

  • @DarkVoidIII
    @DarkVoidIII 3 года назад +1

    If a need arose could they separate brass and bronze into the copper, zinc, and tin, metals, respectively? I've always wondered if this is possible.

    • @Gaark
      @Gaark 3 года назад +2

      That would take some pretty involved chemistry to dissolve only copper and then precipitate it back out, and then do the same to the other metals. It would be expensive

    • @nikolajwinther5955
      @nikolajwinther5955 Год назад

      Electrolysis will isolate the copper in a pure form leaving zinc or tin in the electrolyte which could then be recovered. It's sort of how they make pure copper from ore, I think.
      I doubt it's economically viable unless you have som very cheap energy at your disposal.
      More economical to sort the various alloys and scrap together for specific alloy requirements.

    how did they seperate the rubber from the copper,,,??

    • @KippoHound
      @KippoHound 2 года назад +1

      They use a shaker table, it shakes the material at an angle so the light weight material (rubber) shifts its way down and the heavy material (copper) shifts its way up, it's seems backwards but that's truly how they do it

      This - ruclips.net/video/l-j1_1msyJo/видео.html - is David Fiuczynski. My interpretation of David's playing is that he seems to be more interested in texture and nuance vs. technical command (for a minor-diety of technical command, search RUclips for Feodor Dosümov, you won't believe what you're witnessing on the instrument!

    My local yard still only wants to give me 10 cents a pound for my mixed copper cable so I keep saving and saving more of it. I wish I could get rid of it at a fair price. Heck 50 cents a pound sounds good for mixed cable.

    • @nikolajwinther5955

      That's what I do instead of the time-consuming job of stripping the plastic insulation off copper wires. I toss miles of copper filled wires in a burning 55-gallon steel drum, and bingo, I have clean copper at #1 $crap price$. The scrap yard that I go to burns all its copper infused wires so the owner can sell it to China for #1 prices, too. Just like the company in this video shows. When money is to be made scrapping, air quality goes up in smoke.
